It honestly took me a bit to even find the right words to describe my experience with Jimmy and Tessa. Saying they're amazing seriously doesn't even do them justice. From the very first time I met Jimmy for the evaluation, he worked his magic with my 3-year-old pitbull in like two minutes. I was literally shocked--I have no idea how he got my dog's attention that fast. Every week was exciting because I couldn't wait to see what my pup was going to learn next with Jimmy and Tessa. I also loved that Jimmy made everything easy to understand and actually fun, especially when explaining why we do certain things to help our dogs learn what we expect from them. They helped me get my dog trained for off leash walking and hiking with total voice recall. He has separation anxiety but is also high energy and drive and highly intelligent. This helped him have more confidence that we could be apart and it will be okay! He can hang out alone at home now without barking or trying to tear the door down! We were having huge issues with our golden-doodle's (Terra) reactivity, especially during walks. Our Scottie (Skye) would only make things worse and they would feed off each other and go berserk whenever we had people over. Sit Means Sit was recommended by a friend of mine so I took both my dogs in for a free consultation with Tessa. Tessa explained that both my dogs were dealing with a very bad case of litter mate syndrome and promised that she and the other trainers could help. We signed Terra up for the first flight program which consists of three all day sessions followed by three one hour one-on-one sessions and lifetime maintenance. The training is expensive but it is well worth the investment. I was initially wary of the training collar they use but they tested it on me and I realized it wasn't going to be painful to Terra so I gave in. After three sessions with Donovan, Terra is a changed dog. Her leash skills are great and her recall is so much better than it was. She is far less reactive in the house and in the car. My husband is feeling more confident working with her as well which is great. We are hoping to save up and have Skye go for a different/shorter program at some point as well. It's important to note that your results will depend on how you (the owner) follow up each week at home. If you're willing to be consistent the results will come. Sit Means Sit and Donovan our trainer has given us our life back. They are truly amazing people and our experience has been top notch! We have 2 very large male dogs who used to be best buds but when Durango my 200lb Great Dane hit puberty is when the trouble began. It started with a few spats and then one evening they were in the backyard and we heard them viciously fighting. There was nothing we could do. They were too strong. We tried everything. We had to let them go until they were both too exhausted to fight anymore. I thought for sure we were going to lose one or both. Thankfully although they were both injured neither one had life threatening injuries. Neither lost an ear or an eye. For almost 5 months we had to keep them separated which meant my spouse and I were separated constantly. We shared time with both dogs at different times in different places. It was miserable. We didn't have the heart to give one up. I reached out to a few trainers but once we had a conversation with Sit Means Sit, we were sold. I thought for sure I needed a Board and Train program and it was going to cost a fortune. They told me we could do that but they honestly thought we could pay half the money and have them train once per week for a few short weeks and receive the same results. It was less stressful all the way around. Both of my dogs are new boys. They are confident, obedient and so happy. Although this is a process, we have seen so much progress in such a short amount of time. Our dogs can now be PLACED in the same room so we can all be together. I am hopeful that someday soon they might be able to be friends again. We see glimpses that they want to play again. They wag their tails when they see each other. We will live in muzzles when together until were comfortable that there will not be any issues but they don't mind them at all. If your trying to decide on a training program, give them a shot. If you are looking for a dog trainer this is the one DO NOT look any further!!! Jimmy is amazing, he knows exactly how to handle any situation with a dog you could ever think of. Our American Bulldog Zero HAD SEVERE trust and confidence issues. He would shake and not even move if anyone but myself approached him. He would bolt past anyone that would try and walk past him and ended up hurting himself bolting through the sliding glass door and cutting his cheek open. He was a rescue who had a rough start to his life and Jimmy helped us learn how to build his confidence and trust us. He is a great trainer, knows what he's talking about. We learned a lot in the lesson we got from him. However, we had to cancel our last one on one day because of a medical emergency. Every time we tried to call back to make a different appointment we would get no answer and the voicemail was full. We gave up after calling for a week. For the amount of money we paid (a lot), it would have been nice to be able to reschedule without having to go into the area and interrupt another person's session. Put a bad taste in my mouth and didn't want me to continue going back if they are unable to communicate with you. read more

Tessa was our dog trainer and she was amazing! I will be honest, I did not enjoy our dog. She was aggressive towards other dogs when we went on walks, was a constant barker, and very territorial when we would have visitors. She stressed me out. After one visit from Tessa - I saw a completely different dog. After 3 sessions, Bella now has self-control. She can sit and watch another dog walk by and doesn't try to attack or bark at them. She doesn't pull on the leash. She sits in her "place" when visitors come. She has become a joy instead of a burden for our family. I would give them ten stars if I could. read more

I paid more than $1000.00 for 5 private lessons and one year of group lessons. I am a woman and my dog is a big German Boxer, he was 2 1/2 years old when we started the lessons. Luke Kendall was the trainer. From the first interview I felt that he did not have faith in his ability to help me to train my dog. He was not encouraging but more often very critical of my efforts. He accused me of not doing what he told me to do because we weren't getting the results he wanted. He refused to give my dog and me the last private lesson we had paid for because, as he said, there is nothing more I can do with you. He further said from then on I should come to the group lessons. At the first group lesson he ignored me and my dog while having the others in the room go through some exercises. I finally told him that my dog could and we should be taking a turn at the exercises. After that he grudgingly let us do them at the end of the others and with no attention to us or comments as with the others. At one point he told me my dog was 'aggressive'. There is nothing further from the truth. Later, he did apologize for that comment and recognized that my dog is nothing if not gentle and loving. I think he was intimidated by his size. All the other dogs in the group were small to medium in size. I felt that Luke was not up to the task of handling me and my dog in a professional manner. He was not kind in his 'advice' and clearly had written us off as not 'good' clients. Additionally, he was not timely in notifying me of the group lesson schedule. I had to call and remind him more than once. All in all, it was not a total waste of money because I did pick up some things but it was not even close to being worth $1,000.00. read more

One of the worst experiences we have ever had with any business, did not meet any expectations. Their sales pitch did not in any way reflect what we saw. The prices are high for what you get, one 1 hour lesson = ~$300 and we saw our dog completely regress and forget any prior training, have spent months getting back to where we were after "training" here. Co owner Jimmy became irate and cussed and berated at us for 20+min when we decided this company and training was a bad fit for what we were looking for and did not want to continue. He held our partial refund over our head attempting to scare us into not reviewing their company and sharing our experience, telling us "he doesn't owe us sh*t" in order to, in his own words, "teach us a life lesson". Cherry on top is they attempt to use non disclosure agreements to silence anyone who asks for a refund. We were told they could not process any refund until it was signed, we obviously refused and I can only imagine how many reviews aren't on this page due to people being intimidated into signing NDAs with a dog trainer. Absolutely speechless still at the absolute unhinged and beligerante behavior from a franchise co owner. I'm sure they will comment on this review and push back as they seem to on most of the negative reviews on this page but at least someone else might be able to see an authentic review from someone who wasn't tricked into an NDA. We have found other trainers and dog owners who have had similar experiences with this location of sit means sit so doesn't seem like an isolated incident unfortunately. read more

When our dog suddenly started getting grumpy with our older dog & guests in our house, we needed help bringing her back to her old self. After a 2 week boarding/training session and retraining her parents (my husband & I), she is a completely different dog. If I could give this a 0 I would. The owner enjoys hearing himself talk and showing how great his dog is, not necessarily training other dogs. My dogs HATED his training and I now get to spend MORE money trying to undo the fear they have from the shock collar. The goal is to get your dog to comply through fear, the fear that they will be shocked if they don't. He tells you it is how you "communicate" with the dog, but in reality it is just making them afraid of you. I just wanted dogs I could take to the mountains and let them run around, instead I have dogs that are afraid of all people and other dogs. I am so disappointed in myself that I gave him as much money as I did and now I have a bigger problem on my hands. read more

Luke trained my German Shepherd, Sasha after she pulled me so hard, I lost my balance and fell hard on my driveway. As a ragingly angry wife because I sustained injuries, I called my husband and said "either she gets trained or she gets GONE!" My husband found Luke and Sasha did a Board & Train program with him. This was five years ago. When we went to pick her up she looked like Sasha, she responded to her name but this Sasha was improved one thousand percent! I can now walk her for miles where we see rabbits, dogs, horses, bicyclists, joggers, etc., and she remains on my side and oblivious to all those distractions. Luke did such a good job that I became his Office Manager for the facility 2 years ago. I tell any person who calls my story because I am a walking testimony for Luke. I've put my dog through multiple different training classes before trying these guys. My dog has always been well behaved, but there were a few things I struggled with teaching her. The biggest one being that she was really bad about pulling on the leash when we were out for walks, and as soon as we left the house it was like she just forgot all her training. I decided to try sit means sit, and now she walks right by my side on the leash with no pulling. A lot of times I don't even use a lease when we go on walks. She could be a football fields lefty away, and she is still focused on me. I'm always teaching her new tricks and improving on old tricks, but if it weren't for sit means sit I wouldn't be where I am with my dog today. read more

Waste of money - $1000 upfront for the collar and remote and 3 home visits. We didn't get nearly as far in the home visits as promised and it's not because my dog had issues causing us to be behind. You could by a similar collar on your own and practice the commands and save yourself. read more

We recently welcomed an American Bulldog puppy into our family. We were looking for a loyal and devoted dog who could also provide an additional element of protection for our family and home. That said, in his first six months this bully breed served as a constant reminder that all of that brawn and energy needs to be appropriately channeled. Seabass began to show signs of aggression toward other dogs despite being frequently socialized, constantly barked at passers by, destroyed multiple house hold items, would knock down any child in his path with his boisterous greetings, so on and so forth. While Seabass has been an amazing addition in many ways, we were ill equipped to handle his questionable manners. In short, we needed help. I was fortunate enough to have seen both trainers and trainees from Sit Means Sit in the past and jumped at the chance to converse with trainer Luke after one particularly adventurous morning with the pup. Luke spent quite some time explaining the methodology used by the Sit Means Sit program and some of the successes stories that had come out of the program. I was thrilled to schedule a free consultation. A few short days later Luke arrived with one of his amazing dogs and took both myself and my children through the nuts and bolts of the program. I was informed of several different options ranging from private lessons to boarding (or in Bass' case boot camp) for dogs. All of the pricing was amazingly easy to understand and all inclusive. No nickel and diming your way to a better dog. Most importantly, we were able to see how amazing the training techniques were with our very own eyes. This dog, Axel I believe, is awe inspiring. The kids were mesmerized and I was dumbfounded. We opted to train Seabass with a series of private lessons and then follow up with group lessons throughout the year. Today we finished our final private lesson and I am so pleased and still impressed. The trainer is able to communicate in a way that both myself and the dog understand. I feel lucky that I now understand the dog's language. Bass has gone from juvenile delinquent to productive pooch in the blink of an eye. Both he and I have learned how to control his behavior, how to introduce new environments, and how to enjoy his dog's life. We can take him almost anywhere without concern at this point. I can sit him down, walk away, and he will not budge. I am not in a state of constant heightened alert, leery of the next distraction that will knock me or one of the kids to the ground. The best part, this is only the beginning! The difference with three classes has been fantastic and we have a whole years worth of adventures ahead of us. The kids and I are thrilled to be on this journey together. Training isn't a chore, it's an experience that we get to share. They really love it. I can't say enough about the expertise that Luke brings to the table. I felt completely comfortable welcoming him into my home with my kids and he was careful to include them in the process whenever he could. Additionally, when one training approach didn't seem to click with Bass, Luke was able to change gears on the fly. Not every dog responds to every technique and thank goodness we found a trainer who could recognize this. In summary, this wasn't only an investment in the dog. It was an investment in our future. We would not have had the same happy home if we had not found a way to intervene and change Seabass' behavior.
