Very unsettling to see a reply to my initial comment with accusations insulting my character and falsehoods about how this was handled, but my goal in this post is to make sure other animals are not getting hurt here. The company attempted to get me to sign a settlement document stating if I wanted a refund I could not speak about what happened to my dog. I eventually got a refund without signing any additional documents, but by emailing higher management. Attached are the photos from their shock collar and training. Burn marks, missing hair, open wound on elbow and visible distress on my dog's face, as well as her crying and dehydration at pick up. Their reply here has very intentional wording and threats. We are so proud of how far our 2 yr old Heeler has come in the month or two since we started training. When we first met with his trainer, Taylor, she was great at explaining everything to us and how the e-collar really works. We were given a short demo by Wes the trainer, very impressive, but hard to ascertain whether the dog was acting in response to the e-collar or anticipating the "buzz." The dog was barking repeatedly and extremely loud while the trainer was giving commands. It was a bit distracting and I had to cover my ears. Was a bit skeptical of the e-collar, but the trainer assured me that it wasn't painful and he even let me experience the shock it gives by placing the collar in the palm of my hand. Their puppy class is without shock collars. I decided to check it out since I really needed to socialize my dog, and it's the only place in the area is this one. There were only three puppies in the class including mine, so she didn't get a ton of socializing in. I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know, and the environment was stressful for my puppy. There was a puppy there that was way too young (6 weeks, dogs need to stay with their litter til at least 8). This dog was terrified and the trainer was using all these crazy dominance techniques. Let me point out that dominance theory has been largely disproven. There's only one erroneous study that backs it up (and Caesar Milan). They were rolling this puppy over and over and he was SCREAMING so loud and scared that both other puppies were getting upset. This dog was shaking, screaming, absolutely terrified. The dog owner looked at me like "I can't do this". I stuck it out and finished the class. Overall, the only real skill that my puppy got any better at was place. I used completely positive reinforcement and was able to train my puppy incredibly well. I know a hundred ways to help that owner with the screaming puppy but I didn't want to say anything and offend the trainers. The staff was friendly and the facility was great, but their entire franchise is based on outdated techniques and can absolutely make your dog more fearful and do real damage, even if the shock collar doesn't "Hurt". They are still making the relation that things around them are to be feared instead of understood, and they completely demolish the trust and understanding between owner and dog unless you know exactly what you're doing and refuse to participate in the steps that are damaging. Even then, the terror and reactivity of the other dogs can cause your dog more issues rather than less. read more

I paid for the Platinum package. The staff are polite and courteous but I found out the ugly truth of their "training". My dog stayed with her trainer for one week. Here are the positive things I identified: Basti, my GSD, was somewhat more responsive to training than when I dropped her off. She responded well to the trainer (I can't remember her name but she was an older lady). While having the training collar on she responded well. The staff are courteous and attentive. Here's the not so good: They lied to me. I was told no shock collar would be used but the trainer told me herself that she used a no bark collar on my dog and admitted it was a shock collar. I was told she would be trained to use the restroom when told. That did not happen. I was told she would be socialized to the point where she would not bark at strangers but would allow people to pet her. The trainer brought Basti to my office and failed to give me all of her belongings. I had to wait a week and I had to go to the Belton office to meet with the owner, Robin Wheeler. I was promised things by Robin and she failed to follow through. She scheduled a meeting with me the same week and never showed up. The only positive thing I can say is she gave me a partial refund after I basically told her I was done. Lastly when I got Basti back she had irregular breathing. I took her to my veterinarian and found out that she had an inflammation in her lungs. She has been on antibiotics now for two weeks and after taking her back today I found out she actually has pneumonia. I'm not going to blame them for this but all I can say is the only dogs that she had interaction with were through this company. It would be pointless for me to address this with the owner as I don't believe that they would except responsibility regardless. On the closing note my dog did get a check up a few days prior to going in training so I know she was in excellent health. Overall I would say if you have the time use YouTube. After 3-4 months in I actually believe it brings out more of your dogs character. This has been the best investment i have ever made. I have been training with Sit Means Sit since January 2016. I brought my 3 dogs in for an initial demo in November of 2015 but started training in January 2016. I had been told of Sit Means Sit from a co-worker years before contacting them. What brought me to them was that I was adding a puppy to my pack and wanted my 8 yr old and 2 yr old bulldogs to properly accept the American bully puppy and work on some of their bad habits to have more rounded family dogs. I started my 2 yr old Bulldog with their 15-day boarding package with Robin. Robin was wonderful with his training and communication of his progress in messages, calls, pictures, and videos. He was a completely different dog when he came back. My puppy started with their 6-week puppy class with trainer Kabri. This class was wonderful as a good foundation to start her off on a good obedient foot. I was suppose to do private lesson with my older Bulldog but her health declined too rapidly that between discussions of my concerns for her health with Robin, we decided to transfer those lesson to the puppy. That was one of the best choices I have made! We have continued our training and was able to get our puppy to become a certified Therapy dog a month after she turned 1! The strides my dogs have made and heads they turn with their obedience is beyond my belief! Since my initial training I have added a 2 yr old American Bully who after a few short months of training was also able to success become a therapy dog. I will be getting a Rottweiler puppy in the near future who will become another Sit Means Sit alumni. Sit Means Sit has been a life changer for not just my dogs but myself as well! Dash will be a work in progress her whole life. However, working with Sarah for in home boarding and training has helped put in place a foundation for Dash to move past being afraid of new people and new situations. We've just improved to doing some walking off leash with the ecollar which is amazing. Dash will still get spooked or afraid of new situations, but now we are able to work with her to control her versus having her run away and hide. We look forward to seeing continued improvements. This program is wayyy too expensive. I called in to get some information, and it took a while to get a call back. When I did get the call, she was polite, which is the ONLY reason for 2 stars. After that, it all went downhill. I'm a disabled veteran that is prescribed a service dog for mobility and PTSD reasons, I have already had a service dog through a different program, but unfortunately that dog has been rehomed to a different family for the rest of her lovely dog years. When she started breaking prices down to me, I couldn't BELIEVE how overpriced they are, even for veterans that are prescribed a dog. We are talking $1,500 for BASICS. basics. TADSAW does more than that for FREE. Then she told me the trainer for service dog public access is only here TWICE A YEAR. What is that mess? So you're telling me, I have a dog now that's getting into training soon, then I'll pay you $1000 to get it puppy obedience trained, then I'll have to WAIT MONTHS until your public access trainer comes around, THEN I'll have to pay for that test, THEN I'll have to pay for the service dog qualification test. That's ridiculous. A service dog is medical equipment that I'm prescribed AS A VETERAN. You guys are just using the vulnerable PTSD-diagnosed vets around here, telling them they're getting a good deal by telling us that we are getting a great military discount (which of course is what she did to me to sell the program), and then charging us mass amounts of money of over $1500 to do the very basics that I got with my last dog for $260. Then after the basics is my dog even a medical alert dog? Other programs around here charge you for the basics if you've got a puppy ($260) then if you're a veteran with a disability that requires you to have a medical alert or mobility aid dog THEY GIVE IT TO YOU FOR FREE AND CHARGE THE VA. I can't believe the difference professional training makes. With a previous dog I thought $125 at the local pet store was too much. We kept saying we'd make the commitment and never did, until one day he ran into the street. Training had sounded like such an investment, but vet bills and putting him down were far worse and more expensive. Sit Means Sit starts around $1000 and goes up from there, for very good reasons. We found the group class especially effective. Robin and the trainers know their stuff, and it's worth an initial meeting to find out why. Asked to make an appointment for anytime after work 530pm being the latest they would do it on a week day. I told the lady on the phone that would be great if she could allow us another few minutes so I could wait for my wife to get home from work. She said not an issue. Wife gets home, rushes to change out of her work clothes and we grab the dog and rush straigjt over there arriving at 541pm. As we are walking up to the entrance the last trainer there is locking up the building. She gets aggravated when she sees me and then tells us we need to make an appointment more suitable for us. I told her we did and this was the time we were suppoosed to be there. No phone call no anything to make sure we were coming just closed up shop wasting my time and gas. After reading some of the other reviews im glad that this didnt work out. Not recommended. Would give 0 stars if possible. read more

When I took Princess to Sit Means SIt, she was like every other dog who chased cars, knocked people over at the door and ate furnature and remote controls. She was very naughty and i got an ultimatum to train her or get rid of her... so I took her to Sit Means Sit. it was expensive but they worked with me. It was worth every single solitary dime! I went from a dog so naughty everyone got annoyed with her to a dog I now take with me everywhere and I mean everywhere. She is so well behaved my Doctor made her my service dog. It is like night and day with her,. Better still, when the time comes for me to get another dog, I can train them the way I learned to train Princess. I LOVE SIT MEANS SIT. If you are looking for someone else to train your dog you already failed. But if you are looking to work with your dog as a team and be its pack leader there are no better trainers. and as for the complaints about those collars, Think of it this way, a tap on the shoulder to train your dog or a car to crush your dog. When you consider this, I would say the collar is a no brainier. I spent 2 months in the hospital in Dallas with my dog, and not only do we not need that collar anymore we do not need a leash either. I first met with Taylor and she was very knowledgeable about the program. We had used a "blaster" on a previous dog and their collar is much different. It is similar to a tens machine. You can adjust it very low just to get your dog's attention. I have had three private lessons with Taylor and I was able to reproduce her techniques right away with my dog. You can attend as many lessons a week as you are available for. I hope my dog will be able to pass the good citizens and therapy dog test one day. The program is not cheap, but it is proven and national. I have friends who recommended it from another state. read more
