Trying to register a pet for boarding is a nightmare! They won't take reservations over the phone and the website registration process is buggy as hell. A very nice person tried to help me over the phone but in the end I COULD NOT BECOME A CUSTOMER. read more

I worked here for any amazing 3 years before having to leave due to having a baby and Pershing my own path . I loved this job so much. This facility takes pride in making sure it is cleaned spotless every morning . Babies are fed to the schedules the parents feed at home! Toys and bedding are allowed to ensure pets are nice and comfy during their stay and don't get bored . They offer all sorts of fun services like play times and long treats ! You can also set up bath times so your pet is so nice and smells so good when going home! We make sure that any pets on medications had everything counted upon arrival and signed upon administration in order to ensure everybody was taken care of and never left out! This place will make sure your pets are happy and healthy. Daycare , boarding , even training , they got you covered . I'll always love this place and will even bring my own baby here when we go on vacation ! read more

I keep my dog here when I have to travel for work or visit my family. It is the best. The people who work here seem to love their jobs and love animals. My dog is high maintenance (anxiety with new people) and they work with him really well. He actually likes coming here now, which says a lot! The dogs have time to play together. The space each dog gets is generous and comfortable, nothing like boarding at a vet or a Pet store. They charge a fair price. Almost Home is a wonderful place to take your pet. After I adopted my dog, Oscar, I wanted to help him overcome his severe separation anxiety and decided to board him at Almost Home for a night. After a very successful experience we have returned many times! I really feel that boarding Oscar here has helped bring him out of his shell and make him less nervous to be away from me and my husband. We even boarded him for two weeks during our wedding and honeymoon and I had great peace of mind that he was being well taken care of. I couldn't recommend this place enough! read more

We boarded our cat here when we went out of town for a week. The multi-level cat kennels look decently spacious, and they let the cats out for playtime on their big cat tree. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we'd definitely leave our cat there again. read more

I just recently started taking my puppy sig here and let me just say I love this place!!! The staff is so professional and super nice I know when I leave my baby there they will take amazing care of him! I love that staff is so willing to work with us as well, with my boyfriend being military it can sometimes lead to a crazy schedule and they completely understand that and do every they can to work with us on our schedule. read more

My dog and I LOVE Almost Home Pet Resort! The owner and Nancy are awesome, friendly, professional, helpful, and the from the first day my pup was there, he was crazy about it! Now he gets really excited when I invite him to the car before work, and VERY disappointed on the days he doesn't go. The people make the difference, they are great. The kennels are maintained well, cleaned routinely, and they monitor the dogs at all times. My pup was neutered and still had a cone on, Nancy monitored him closely when it was time to remove it. They send messages during the day to let you know how your canine family members are doing. I won't take my dogs anywhere else again! Love this place! read more

Haven't used them for awhile since my friend left this world a couple of years ago, BUT, when he was alive, I couldn't have had a better place for him. Dave and Jay had just gotten the place and were into renovation. They are knowledgeable about the dogs, treated mine like he was theirs and let me know he needed to be checked for thyroid problems. The Vet made a big deal about "oh, the kennel staff thought you should do this". I explained to the Vet that as an old nurse, I learned a long time ago to listen to the aids and LVN's and just do the test. She did and my dog had hypothyroidism. The main Vet, called me the reports. Anyway, you can't go wrong leaving your pet with this group. Very good service and very caring group. Will definitely use when I get a new dog. read more

I used to use this boarding facility but never will I use it again. Apparently, the females must be spayed but the males can be intact?! Wtf kind of policy is that?! So basically, you're too lazy to prevent your male dogs from accidently humping a female?! I have a puppy that is not quite old enough to be spayed, has not gone through her first heat, and she is not allowed at your facility... because clearly you don't have the time to keep her separate from the other animals? Best boarding experience ever! My daughter and I boarded both our dogs here for 10 days. It was the best experience either dog ever had. My dog is is very timid but she was really comfortable with Dave, Jay and their staff. It was the first time after boarding that she seemed calm and happy. I think she actually missed being there once we got home. I could tell the experience had been good for both dogs because they did so well afterward. Neither dog seemed upset and they were both healthy. We have boarded our dogs at other kennels and when picking them up, they actually seemed traumatized and both got sick shorty after. We will always use Almost Home Pet Resort from now on. Thank you everyone there for taking such good care of all your boarders. read more

We found this place several years ago after trying a few other local places for grooming. At the time, we had 1 dog, but now have 2. Because they are both Poodle mixes, they require a grooming every 3 to 4 weeks. Our older dog has been going since we found Dave, Jay, and the staff here. Macy loves knows when we turn down the road and is excited to get there to see them. Pico was initially less enthused the first few times, but quickly learned he would be treated very well there and is just as excited now as Macy to arrive. Being that they are the extended members of our family, we want the best for them and to know they are happy and well treated. Never have had a worry here, as it is clear when we pick them up that they have been treated very well. We are very thankful for this place and the dogs always have the best grooming. They get meany comments as we walk them locally and in Austin each weekend. read more

My dog, JB, comes here almost DAILY for Doggie Day Car. She loves it here! When she sees me getting ready to leave the house in the mornings, she waits by the door and hops in the car. I called yesterday and spoke to Jay about a Suite to kennel my dog for next month. He asked a few expected questions and then the breed of my dog. I informed him I have a pit bull, he said with pit bulls, Dalmatians, Great Danes etc. they do a walk around with them first. I didn't see anything about that on the website but no problem. I got my Vet to fax all vaccination records and setup for my husband to take him that afternoon. My husband arrived early, he said he was greeted by the man, I wasn't there so I don't know if it was Jay or who it was, anyways, the man took our dog and told him to sit, give him paw etc. He obeyed. He was even Ok with the big bird in the lobby. Then he told my husband he was going to take him where the dogs are. My husband sat down and watched on the cameras and said he walked him out the door and straight into where all the other dogs were. He said he could plainly on camera see what happened, our dog was being barked at instantly by tons of other dogs and he stiffened up, his hair went up and he started barking also. The man walked straight back in and said it was his quickest walk through and he couldn't stay there! My husband said it was such a weird situation he honestly thought he was being punked. He grabbed our dog and left. If our dog is not welcome, ok. Whatever. My question is how was he supposed to react? I would react the same if thrust into a room of screaming people! I feel so sorry I even put my dog in that situation. We are honestly used to the racism of having pitbulls after owning a couple in the span of 15 years. My point is if you are breed specific. Just put it on your website so we can scroll on by. By the way why would he have to interact with other high anxiety dogs already kenneled if he is to be kenneled alone? This baffles me. read more

Jay and David are great guys and almost home is awesome. We've boarded our bullterrier, Pete, there many times. He's our baby and we've looked at all the local dog kennels to include those Austin. AHPR is the best. Doggy guests get a lot of personal play time and have large outdoor runs and indoor suites. The new addition/building is looking very nice. Long story short ... Back in May 2014 we reserved/paid-deposit Christmas Holiday suites for both of our 8 year old brother & Sister Black Labs for 2 weeks (reason for boarding - Pre-paid once in a life-time Family Vacation) ... at the time we were impressed with the kindness and warm welcome we received from the staff at Almost Home pet Resort. First time ever boarding, knowing we would need to work them into the boarding routine. Not just for the fur babies but for us too ... this is a HUGE step for us. Over the summer we lost one fur baby due to an aggressive cancer and we all had to take some time to get through this time from mourning. Fall is here and now ready to start our play-dates/stay-overs getting into a routine of sorts. This morning I get a call from one of the owners telling me they don't have enough time to evaluate our fur baby's behavior/adaptability for our long reservation for the holiday (which we reserved back in May) ??? To date, we have complied with all of their boarding rules and regulations with initial meet & greet and a half day play day. Each week we WERE scheduling play-dates/sleep-overs getting us all ready for the big reservation for the Christmas holiday. The owner this morning was not professional, nor the same person we have been communicating with since May??? What happened??? Very disappointed with their now change of plans with for us ... The owner said "he doesn't have time to evaluate our fur baby now ... all booked up for the holiday"!! Really!! Wow, we were not expecting this from someone we have been involved with now for 6 months. Come to find out after looking into the social media to see and read over reviews if other boarders have had similar problems with this establishment ... found out they just blasted this ad on November 3rd .... "We are almost sold out for Thanksgiving, only 10 more rooms left. If you are going away call right away they will be gone by the end of the week. !!! ... Then we noticed this post shortly following "Got Bonnie's spot for Christmas this morning!" .... I thought they didn't have any slots available or are they regular boarders??? Maybe because we are new and only have a 6 month relationship with them so far??? Very disappointed is the only nice word I have to say right now.
