Love this place!!!! They always do a great job with my goldendoodle and it's the least expensive place I've found so far. Only negative thing I have to say is my husband dropped our girl there once 15 min late (he'd never been there and was rushing) he said they were pretty rude and expected him to know there was a late fee.) I've tried to call in advance for a bath and no one answers the phone, I got turned away at 3:44pm because the cut off to drop off for a bath is 3pm but it's not on their website and no one answers the phone. I'm only reviewing the DIY dog wash part of this place, I've never boarded my dog there or had their drop-off grooming done. For between $13-$17 dollars (depending on weight of your dog) you can use the professional dog washing tools at Shangri Paw. Your first time, they'll walk you through the process but it's very easy. They have raised tubs, which is wonderful as you're not constantly leaning over and breaking your back, so you first have to help your dog up the steps into the tub. They have slip collars you clip to the tub; your regular collar can be taken off and washed separately. They also have aprons, if your dog is a splasher. There are several different flavors of soaps you can choose from that are hooked up to a machine that sprays the water through a high pressure hose, much like a doggie version of a self-serve car wash. The high pressure water is really nice for getting down into those fur coats. After you've rinsed and soaped and rinsed, you can also add in conditioner. When you're sure your dog is squeaky clean, you can turn on the dryer. It comes through a big hose and literally blows the water right off of your dog. In the end, your dog will look like he gained 5 pounds of fluffiness. They also provide towels, brushes, and doggie perfume. read more

First time here an I just wanted to give my pup a bath with their DIY service. I brought shampoo but their sprayer has shampoo that mixes in. I used the apple and oatmeal then the apple conditioner. He's super soft and smells good but the blow dryers scared him so I toweled him off. All and all a descent experience but I feel it was a little taxed. This is a great place for our dog! He loves coming for doggie daycare and boarding. He is dropped off happy and is picked up happy. Owner is a very courteous gentleman and is always professional and kind as is the other staff members that I have run into so far. If there was anything to improve it would be an earlier time for drop off for doggie daycare, but understand that may be a cost or personnel issue. You made a good effort defending your behavior and treatment of my boxer. My experience and opinion of the care at your facility was not formed because of lack of knowledge or experience. I typically use my vet to board my pets, though they were booked for the holiday season. I had merely stated my boxer had never been boarded before. That being said let me clarify a few things. 1. I am the one who typically trims my dogs nails. As you observed they were not excessively overgrown so it would mean I do a satisfactory job. I chose to have it done at your facility during his stay because as I had informed you, he does not like it. He has never (I observed your experience as well) become violent. He did attempt to pull away from you and cried during the entire process. 2. I paid you to care for my pet while I was away. The first night he was at your facility he was not properly caged and was able to roam freely in your facility. By your own admission he ate food that wasn't his. Also you chose to leave out that he tore apart insulation that night as well. You assume he didn't ingest any of it, though he very well could have. You failed to properly house him by doing this. He could have been injured or consumed something harmful to him. This may have been the cause if his poor appetite. Instead prior to responding to my review you emailed me and criticized my food brand choice. I am sure I am not the first nor the last dissatisfied client. You are welcome to place the blame on myself and my boxer. By your own admission you did not contain him properly, you allowed him to consume food that belonged to another animal. And you claim he "almost" punctured your elbow by attempting to bite you. His nail poked your elbow and the threat of quarantine. Quarantine is only implemented had an animal bite broken through the skin. You had a red mark. No broken skin at all. Best of luck with your facility. I personally was dissatisfied. Feel free to operate as you choose. Your standards are your own. I expect more, therefore in the future I will plan further ahead so he can be boarded at a facility I am more comfortable with. read more

This was our 2 puppies first visit. The staff was friendly and kind. They took great care of our puppies during their visit. The grooming package we purchased was very economical and we are super pleased with the results. The one thing that I will mention is that we noticed that our puppies' nails were cut but not grinded/smooth. That may have been an oversight or something we just didn't ask for with the nail cuts. I figured I'd receive numerous insincere apologies followed by half thought out explanation. I honestly shouldn't even reply to this, but I want to make sure that consumers interested in your business don't misunderstand what actually occurred. First of all, let's talk about actually getting to know your customers and your fur-clients. My Fiancé's name is Mr. Dillon not Mr. Tyler. Also, Callan is a FEMALE German Shepherd. You should probably take the time to look over your customers paperwork. It goes a long way. Second, we are 100% aware that Nash will chase a cat if given the opportunity. The professional thing to do in that instance is to make sure your customers are aware that there are cats roaming about in your facility. Heaven forbid if he had actually injured one of your cats because you would certainly be liable. Third, the gobs of hair that were not combed out were not from my Husky, but came from my German Shepherd. I spent 45 minutes brushing her hair when she got back from her appointment. That is unacceptable considering we paid over $120.00. The issue here was not a lack of communication. The issue was the fact that we paid a good amount for our dogs to be taken care of and I had to come home and do it myself. I have read your other reviews on this page and it seems to me that it is a running theme for you to respond to bad reviews and attempt to turn it all around on the customer. That's just bad business, sir. If I were you, I would look inside your company and try to figure out why people are dissatisfied as opposed to blaming them. Good luck with your business. read more

I have taken my super fluffy husky/GSD mix and my Lab here two times, and I'm always SO happy with the results every time! Very satisfied with this place. I left my dog for a couple of nights while we traveled. I spoke to the owner when I made the reservations, he was really nice. I was worried at first that there might be a breed restriction, I have an American pit bull terrier and unfortunately they're not welcomed in a lot of places. I wanted him bathed on pick up day, I completely forgot I had said I would pick up on Friday and called Thursday asking if he was ready for pick up ‍. I called around 3 and they let me know he hadn't been bathed yet because i was supposed to pick him up the next day. I asked if they could bathe him so I could pick him up that day and they did. They called me when he was ready, I picked him up and he smelled soo good! I was very pleased with everything, the facility looked clean and all the dogs were calm and quiet, except mine lol. PROs: -Staff seems very friendly - lowest cost option - The doggie daycare area was indoors looked very clean CONs: - The day I came to drop my pup off I was happily allowed to tour the facilities. I should note that there was 2-3 workers there at the time. However, when I dropped in for a surprise visit the next morning at 7:45am I was not allowed to see my pups living area. I was told that the lady could not allow me in the back area because there was an aggressive dog back there and they can only escort customers in the back when there is an aggressive dog if there are at least 2 workers on duty. She was the only one there in the morning. She did bring my pup out to me with no problem though. I also confirmed with another boarding facility about the aggressive dog thing, apparently insurance companies don't like it when they bring customers back there near an aggressive dog. But, I still didn't like not being able to see her living quarters. Obviously, my concern was that they could use the aggressive dog excuse to prevent owners from seeing the facilities when they are not up to par. Also, when she did bring my pup out, she had urine on about 1/8 of her face. That was surprising, because she is house trained, never pees in her crate (at least for the 4-6 hours max I crate her per day) nor was she supposedly around any other dogs. - I noticed there was a little more poop accumulated in the outdoor play area than I was comfortable with. Both when I dropped her off around 2pm, and when I looked through the window the next morning at 7:45am when I came for a surprise check up before my flight. - the boarding cells aren't as nice as I'm used to with previous boarding facilities. They are made of concrete and cinder block, and more resemble pounds I have visited. Not that a dog really cares though. Just don't expect the place to be pretty. read more

I just had one of the most horrible customer service experiences in my life. I can't say anything bad in reference to the service I received from the groomer. However, the owner was rude, obnoxious, and has a total disregard for creating an environment of customer satisfaction and loyalty. I caution anyone who would consider using their services to be weary of any potential encounter with the owner of this establishment. He clearly does not value a customer's patronage and when consideration/arbitration is needed he is totally unsympathetic to a customer's concerns, and needs. Reading the experiences of others, has confirmed that my experience is not unique. My pet and I will happily travel to Austin for future pet grooming services. read more

My dogs were banned from Petco and Petsmart LOL, guess they cant handle a dog yapping through their windows (Yorkies). This was my first visit using their full groomer service, Overall I was happy with their hair cuts. I was charge a Hard handling fee which I totally agreed with, since my lil ones are little bit crazy. I have used Shangri Paw for almost three years for my dogs grooming and boarding needs. I do not ever want to take her anywhere else. They do THE BEST job grooming, her bath lasts just about a month. She's a terrible shedder, but they help me keep it manageable. I am never satisfied if she gets a path anywhere else. She LOVES going in here and LOVES all the staff. She goes in happy and comes out happy, and the staff simply adore Hexie. It makes me happy and safe. I recommend them to everyone. I love their grooming and i love the aromatherapy and little scarves they give out. I also don't worry at all when she stays there for boarding, they take great care of her. Excellent job you guys! We wanted to test this place by leaving our adult boxers overnight while taking a day trip to Austin. The facility looked old and run down, and was quite expensive for the lack of amenities. The front staff was courteous upon drop off, but would not show us where the girls would be sleeping. We arrived as soon as we were allowed to pick them up next day, and I was shocked. They were kept in a dirty small chain link cage just like the dog pound. The worst was that the staff member was complaining to me that my dog had urinated in the kennel and she had to clean it up. When I told her that something was very wrong because that never happened is when she took me back to see where it happened and the horrid conditions the dogs are kenneled. I explained as I had when dropping them off, that they needed to be let out every 4 to 6 hours or have accessability to relieve themselves. That's when she said they left at 6 pm and don't return until 6am the following morning! The whole purpose of boarding our pets was so they were not left alone overnight, which was underscored when we dropped them off. My older boxer that had urinated in the kennel was tied up inside the same kennel on only about 4 feet of length when I was taken back to get her. She was scared and cowering, which was much out of character. This made me suspicious of how she was disciplined. I also had never tied her, nor would I, and feel this was a safety issue. The woman ignored my concerns, and continued to complain over the urination. I myself, cannot hold my pee for 12 hours, and it is cruel to expect a loving family member to. I would never take my dogs here again! read more

2nd time going . Was the worst . my puppy hates having her nails trimmed. I understand that. Had to help hold her which i understand also. But when out came time too use the dremel file limb her she wad not having it. She was so stressed she pooped and peed. She is a 50 lb lab. Had 2 different people try to do it. I was standing there watching and so were 2 other employees. the guy attempting to file her nails was rough. She was fighting it the whole time. Yelping and struggling to get free. It upset me so that i got emotional and started to cry. . Had to yell at him a couple times to stop. Everyone there could see i was upset nothing was said or done too help me. Very poor customer service on their part. I'm sorry my dog is difficult. But to not even apologize or acknowledge ur customer is un happy is not the way to do business. Wont be going back. My past experiences with Shangri-paw has been of exceptional service and care of my dog. Unfortunately I cannot say the same with her most recent dog grooming. Our dog had a shampoo, anal gland expression, teeth cleaning, nail trim and aromatherapy. We realized after we returned home, and in the following days, areas of concern. Our dog's groin area had a rash that wasn't present previously. Her anus was raw, red and irritated. She has a ligature mark around her neck which is still present. Her ears weren't cleaned well, nor were her nails cut adequately. The aromatherapy that we had in the past lasted almost 2 months. This time it lasted barely 2 weeks. There was a new groomer training the day we left our dog. We are not sure if that had any bearing on the change in service. Regardless of the cause of the care she received, we are disappointed and sadden that we had this experience. Sadly we will have go elsewhere for our dog's grooming. Hopefully this is an isolated incident and won't happen to any other dog. read more

I've been taking my three dogs to this groomer for about three years now and usually have a very pleasant experience. My dogs are anxious by nature, but the employees there are always super helpful and understanding. By the time I come to pick them up from boarding or grooming they're always at ease and happy. I often get my dogs a spa package (bath, nails, and aromatherapy oil), and I love how soft, clean and scented their fur feels and smells afterward, and appreciate the cute bandannas they receive. I love supporting a local business and always tip the groomers well because they do an excellent job! Even when I moved farther from Harker Heights I continued to use this groomer. The owner Dave is great and seems to really love animals; I always feel like I can trust him to look after my dogs. My only complaint is the last time I attempted to drop the dogs off for a bath and nails, I got there right at 1530 due to the local school letting out and halting traffic. The employees at the desk simply said I was too late because I was "after 1530", and seemed fairly unapologetic. I was very disappointed that they couldn't help me out at all since I came across town with all three dogs. I would have even boarded for the night had they offered or suggested an alternative, but the exchange left me feeling brushed off. They just didn't seem very interested in helping me, maybe it was just late in the day or they were full. read more
