One of the best restaurants in Troy. As an alumnus of Troy University, this was always one of my favorite restaurants. It's some of the best Southern cooking you can get anywhere, and though I'm loathe to admit it, nothing in my hometown of Panama City comes close to being as authentic and delicious country cooking as the food at Sister's. Each day brings a different menu with different (but always delicious) choices, and the buffet on Sundays is incredible. This is the sort of small-town restaurant where all the locals go, and if you know the good folks around Troy, you will be hard-pressed not to run into friends and neighbors during each and every visit. Sister's is located just south of Troy on U.S. Highway 231, and for any travelers passing through the small town of Troy during the lunchtime hours, you are truly missing out if you don't stop in to Sister's for the best Southern cooking to be found outside of your Granny's kitchen. read more

I do not understand the fascination that locals in Troy have with this place. The food is "okay." If you want something with a "southern feel," eat at Hook's BBQ. You'll get your food quicker, they'll be more of it, it'll be the same cost, and it'll leave you more full. read more

Had them cater. Fried pork chop was over cooked and difficult to eat. The butter beans and corn were fantastic. I'm on the fence about the mashed potatoes- they were so thin they reminded me of instant potatoes. read more

Sisters is one of the few, can't miss, places in Troy. Whether it's one of the days where they are serving buffet, or one where you have a choice of meats and 2-3 vegetables, you won't find better home-style cooking in this town. Buffet is around $11 at lunch, but well worth it. read more

If you want delicious home cooked southern food in Troy, this is the place to go! We went here on a Thursday night and had the buffet with a drink for $12.25 a person. The buffet had everything on it that we wanted from fried chicken to fried okra. Don't skip dessert here!! They are known for their bread pudding and the peach cobbler was tasty. The staff who work here are very friendly and the locals dine here as well. It's definitely worth checking out if you are in the area! read more

The food is horrible!! Nothing southern about this place. Canned, processed, hard, dry food. Recommend not driving this far to get fake southern food! The worst.... read more

Southern cooking at its best. From the friendly greeting to the helpful wait staff we really enjoyed everything about this place. Dumplings, fried chicken, sweet potato casserole, desserts all were great. Quick and awesome! Give it a try! read more

Pack parking lot. Heard it was a good restaurant but it was terrible . Canned and package food , even the Banana pudding was terrible . Wasted $90 on lunch for six people. A one star was as low as I could go. read more

It was very good. I stopped on the way through town after seeing on yelp. Busy, but there was no wait. Pleasant surprise. Food was good and exactly as expected. read more

So glad my husband and I stopped in this weekend. Everything on the buffet was mouth -watering. Fried chicken was perfect, not greasy. Mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings, hash brown casserole, macaroni and cheese all delicious. Free sweet tea with buffet purchase and amazing banana pudding to top it all off. Make sure you stop here if you're in the area. read more

The daily special looked good but my husband and I ordered the shrimp. We were both very disappointed and left hungry. The mashed potatoes were instant and nothing tasted homemade. We didn't get a salad or rolls. The staff was friendly and the place was cute, but we probably won't go back. read more

So apparently two ladies own this together and they are sisters. You can tell they have been here a while and have expanded their little location a few times. The food was good at lunch. The place was clean and our server was very nice. I would come here even if it was in a larger town with more option.s read more

(1) This place is worth a stop if you're on a drive and want good southern cooking. (2) The address listed by Yelp is WRONG. Traveling Companion and I spent 10 minutes more or less yelling at each other because GPS kept leading us to a wooded lot. The REAL ADDRESS is 13153 U.S. Highway 231, about a mile or two south of where GPS tracks Yelp listed address. . I'd give this 2.5 stars if Yelp allowed half-stars. We went expecting a country buffet, but we went on a Monday and buffets it turned out are only on certain days. It's mostly open for lunches, but also some nights. If you're on a drive, I suggest calling in advance to learn hours, what's available. The number listed on Sisters business card is 334 566-0064. We both had pork chop with pepper gravy. TC, a real foody, thought it was great. I found the thick crust and goopy gravy just so so. I think the price was $7.99 (not listed on the menu). I think the problem is not with the restaurant, but the fact that maybe I'm not that big a fan of Southern fried cooking. Still, I'd say this is worth a try as a bit of local Americana, a change from the fast-food and cookie-cutter chains. NOTE: This was second time on a month-long driving trip that Yelp address for a restaurant was wrong. I suggest double-checking addresses with your smartphone if you're on a trip. read more

The hot bar is really good!! The people are very friendly!! They have homemade desserts !!

This is probably the best Southern restaurant in the United States, and thus, the best Southern restaurant on Earth. On Earth. I really mean that. I have never encountered such a high quality Southern buffet as they put out on Sunday. read more

Plain southern cooking at it's best - a main and 2 sides, sweet tea for $7.25. The fried chicken livers were super, great squash casserole, however would skip the creamed corn next time. read more

Stopped by on the way through on a recommendation by my brother in law. Damn glad we did. One of the best country buffets I have ever had. Lots of meats and sides. Large dining area so you should not have to wait long is any. Lots of patrons mean that the fresh hot food keeps coming out to the buffet. Definetly give this place a shot. read more

I think this is a typical buffet type restaurant. I had the chicken strips, some corn souffle, mac & cheese, green beans, a taste of peach cobbler and banana pudding. I think it would be so much better if the mashed potatoes were real read more

I've been here on numerous occasions from banquets to Sunday dinner. The customer service is always the same no matter how busy they are! Excellent. The only negative thing I have to say is that their peach cobbler is far from good. Sorry. read more

This is solid home cooking and a great find among not so impressive options of fast food chains. Baked chicken, country ham, awesome cornbread dressing, Lima beans, turnip greens, on and on. It is buffet - but don't let that turn you off. It is nicely done and an obvious favorite of locals. Desserts are yummy - peach cobbler and banana pudding - overall great home style meal at good price. I paid $11 total. read more

I now live 1500 miles away from this amazing place, but look forward to eating here again! Southern food at it's best! Though I ate here when it wasn't insanely popular and thus the food wasn't prepared in such bulk. Though certain dishes may seem under or overcooked(due to having to cook so much) everything is ALWAYS a treat! Rutabegas, Turnips, stewed squash, fried chicken, fried pork chops, sweet potatos, corn, dressing and chicken w cranberry sauce...I can't even tell you all the things they serve and they serve something different daily! The only thing better than mommas cookin is Sisters! read more

I travel 5 days a week in the south for work. I try to eat at meat and three's to stay away from fast food. I have about 20 southern cooking restaurants in my GPS in AL, TN and MS. This one is a good one. I stop there if on Hwy. 231. 4 stars from me. read more

It Was like a family Thanksgiving or Christmas meal with about as much food as you could imagine. Seasoned like we southerners like and you get plenty of it when doing the buffe. But! Take what you want but eat what you take! Will be going back anytime we're in town. read more

Very good lunch meal at $7.99. Good service and really buy with locals at lunch time. There is a buffet on Friday.

This is Troy Tradition and is listed on 100 places to eat in Alabama before you die.

Great country cooking with daily specials. Love the meatloaf here and portion sizes are sure to fill the hungry beast in you! Plenty of sweet tea to cool you off on these hot summer days. See their website for listings of the daily lunch choices. Did I mention the creamed corn is amazing!? read more

This is absolutely the very best buffet I've ever visited !! Been doing so for years!!! Short drive from Montgomery! No other restaurant comes even close to this one for taste, quality, variety, friendliness, and cleanliness!!! read more

Good food at reasonable price. Meat and two veggies with great rolls. They have a lunch buffet on thurs and fri.

Some of the items on the buffet were fine but fried chicken was dry. If you consider dumping a can of vanilla pudding in a pan with vanilla wafers and not ripe bananas, banana pudding... ? It was the worst thing ever!!! I would be embarrassed to put it on the line and call it banana pudding!!! This was our first and last visit to this place. read more

Had buffet lunch Sunday. The best tasting chicken I ever had. All the vegtables are so tasty. Good southern cooking. Don't pass Sisters up.

The best of the best in Troy, AL - Sisters has the best Sunday buffet around. If you love southern cooking, this is the place to be. While there may be a short wait, it's all worth it and for only around twelve dollars! read more

If you like home cooking with lots of vegetables, this is your kind of place. The bannana pudding is one of 100 things to eat in Alabama before you die. The food is scrumptious -- squash casserole, cornbread, creamed corn are all good. It costs about $10. read more

I have been away from the South for a very long time. Sisters was like coming home to Grandma. The country buffet on Thursday was amazing. The most tender fried chicken, the wonderful sides..yummy beans, sweet potatoes and greens - I could go on and on. Everything I had was delicious. Yes they do have the best banana pudding and cobblers. Everything was fresh, replenished quickly with a lot of attention to detail. The service was prompt and friendly even for our large group. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great Southern meal especially without having to spend the time to make it themselves and the bonus? The price is reasonable! read more

Very disappointing. We were recommended this restaurant while staying in Troy. We went on a Friday night. When we arrived were told to sit anywhere. Our waitress brought us our sweet tea and then ran off to another table of people she knew. We sat at the table and waited for about 5 minutes before noticing that most of the customers just walked in and went straight to the buffet. My dinner companion went to get her plate of food. When she came back she only had a few things on her plate. The buffet was a seafood buffet and she is allergic to seafood! If we had been told when we sat down we would have left and gone somewhere else. I went to fix my plate and the buffet was almost empty. There were very few veggies to choose from and of the ones on the bar, most were starches ( corn, grits, fries, onion rings and baked potato). I selected a piece of fried fish, chicken fingers and shrimp. The fish was cold and overcooked. The chicken fingers were the same. The shrimp were OK, but I was only able to get the 2-3 that were left in the bowl. Went back to the buffet and was able to get some fish fillets which had just come out of the kitchen. These were very hot and tasty. When our waitress brought our ticket, it just had 2B written on it. We still didn't know how much this buffet was going to cost us. We went to pay and found out it was $18.95 each. My dinner companion told the person she didn't eat any of the seafood since she is allergic so she shouldn't have to pay the full price and was told call ahead next time. All in all this was an extremely disappointing experience for us. read more

My husband loves restaurants that aren't chains. He had seen ads for this one when traveling to Fl We stopped today, and the food did not disappoint. Buffet with home style cooking, flavored to perfection, wonderful desserts, and a friendly staff, what else could you want! read more

There is nothing southern about this restaurant! The food is straight out of the can, and the pie is frozen store bought too. Can not believe this ever made a best restaurant list. The waitress forgot about us and we eventually just walked up to the register, paid and left. Very disappointing, especially considering this place came highly recommended. The only southerners I know that might remotely enjoy this are the city folks that have never had a true, fresh from the garden southern meal. read more

Awesome traditional southern home cooking. The deserts are incredible. Peach Cobbler and Bread Pudding.
