My husband's breakfast

Oh my goodness, what a perfect little find. Everything was delicious and everyone was so nice and hospitable. Were 2 hours away but itd be worth the trip. Found this on our way back from a sweet visit in lake toxawa NC. Greystone.

This is our favorite breakfast spot in the area (not that there are many options). It's a no-frills breakfast experience with good quality food. They serve lunch too (no dinner), but we have only tried the breakfast. They have a cabinet of fresh baked sweet goods in the front, which satisfies your guilty pleasure. ATMOSPHERE - A wall of books separates two eating areas. Feel free to grab one to pursue while there. It's a cozy, inviting place. - Coffee bar offers opportunity to pick own mug (eclectic selection) and fill up as many times as you want/need - It's a diner. No fancy decor but there is a large chicken, maybe 5' tall, that greets you upon entry. Love it! FAVORITES - Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. The biscuits are really good by themselves. Top them with their sausage gravy and you are set for a main course or side item. I rarely eat breakfast here without this side. Note that they offer the gravy without the sausage...but what's the point in missing out in the pork? Tip: if you order corned beef hash, put some on top of your biscuits and gravy...match made in heaven! - Corned Beef Hash. Has a pronounced smooth flavor that makes it taste like it was cooked over a campfire. Brings back memories of my childhood camping (I do hotels in adult life). These are really good and another side that my wife and/or I usually order. - Quiche of the day. Today was sausage, spinach and feta. It's a great quiche. I have read reviews that others generally enjoy the daily selection so you should be safe to order if this fits your mood. OTHER FOOD - Cinnamon rolls from the bakery case were just ok. Could party be personally preference and I much prefer cream cheese frosting on my cinnamon (this was just plain frosting). - Kids pancakes were good according to my child, who isn't a big pancake fan (yeah, I know she's weird). She ordered with chocolate chips, and beware that they were on bottom, and not visible. However they were in plenty and she loved it (plans to order the same tomorrow morning). - Coffee station is inviting and I love the eclectic mug selection as it feels like home. However coffee is average. I am a big coffee snob so hard to please.

I just got back from Italy and was in desperate need of a good American breakfast. This place was so good!! You walk in and get your own mug and pour your own coffee. The biscuits were amazing. I got eggs scrambled with cheese and crispy bacon. The breakfast hash and tall stack were also amazing! The service was fast and the inside was very unique and cute. Will definitely come back next time we come to lake Keowee!

Choco chip & banana pancakes and the rest! They rye bread was even awesome!

Best breakfast ever. We tried just about everything because it all sounded good and it was! See picture. Can't write more because headed out for a 30 mile hike to walk it off!!!

Great to bring the out of town family

Great Breakfast. Service is casual and quirky which makes it so fun! Grab your own coffee mug and help yourself. Food is delicious. Stop and grab a homemade giant cookie on the way out.

Good food, nice people, and the only restaurant around for miles. A must stop for a bona fide, hearty, no frills breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The chef shared a gift initially - a cheesy gruyere puff which was a yummy start to our adventure. Then we shared starters including the "beef Wellington poptart", Parker's rolls, braised squash with pomegranate and goat cheese as well as a pear ricotta salad. All were phenomenal! Then we moved on to entrees: short ribs, home made pappardelle bolognese and salmon with lentils and pistachio cream. We devoured all with delight! Service was excellent noting that our water glasses were never empty. The restaurant itself is crisp, clean and inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner and will be back to try brunch soon!

Guests are offered still or sparkling water as well as the option to add a garnish: lime, lemon, cucumber? We started with the Parker house rolls that are served in a cast iron pan and are perfectly golden brown. I had the 28 hour short rib because I was told it comes with some theatrics. They make fresh made pasta, which looked amazing. They offer several specialty cocktails for those who like fun libations. They also offer a private room for 8 if you want a more intimate party.

As a Louisiana transplant, I definitely appreciate the focus on Creole/Cajun cuisine. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the Cobb Salad and a cup of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. The Cobb Salad was phenomenal--huge, loaded with all the classic toppings, and packed with crispy bacon. I asked for grilled shrimp on top (not listed, but available if you ask), and they were big, perfectly cooked, and added the perfect touch. 10/10. The gumbo was a filé-style, and while the texture and balance of chicken, andouille sausage (which had a great kick), and rice were just right, the broth itself was a bit one-note--mainly the filé flavor came through. I probably wouldn't order it again, but to be fair, I make a pretty killer gumbo myself, so I might be spoiled! I'm already planning my next visit to try the chargrilled oysters (all the varieties!), plus the étouffée and jambalaya. Stay tuned for updates--this place is definitely on my radar!
