3/11/23 Savanna was our bartender and very pleasant. My husband ordered a mango margarita and he enjoyed it very much. I was a little nervous to try this restaurant because of the lower Yelp reviews. The restaurant has been in business for 30 years so they surely know what they're doing. I ordered the Mexican sampler which was good- a combo of two taquitos- mini cheese quesadilla and Mexican pizza. A bit pricy at 9.99 but nice variety. For my meal I opted for the shredded beef chimichanga (haven't had a chimi in like thirty years plus) this came with rice and beans. I liked the tangy red sauce that I chose and the chimi was nice and crispy. I really liked the Mexican rice- probably the best I ever had! Their menu offers a lot of options everything from French onion soup, to crab cakes, to sandwich wraps and nice Mexican fare. I wanted so badly to try the fried Ice-cream but I was too full. I won't return to this establishment, which is a real shame. I ordered pick-up lunch and got an enchilada dinner special that the very nice waitress told me about over the phone. I explained that I've never been to the restaurant before and she answered all the questions I had on the phone. When I picked up from the restaurant, the order was already nearly ready and the woman I spoke to was just as nice in person as she was over the phone. She even offered me a paper menu to take back with me, which I appreciated. However, when I got back to work to eat my chicken enchiladas, it was incredibly disappointing. Growing up in Southern California, I've had my share of great Mexican food. Enchiladas, from what I grew up eating, either have a red chili sauce or a green tomatillo sauce. What I got when I opened up my container was two enchiladas covered in the grossest yellowish cheese sauce (that was plasticky tasting, if not flavorless) that probably passes as an "enchilada sauce" for the coal mining region. It completely ruined the dish, because the chicken was tasty on the inside of the tortillas! I would have that again, but that sauce was an atrocity. Even googling images of enchiladas will show you what they're supposed to look like. I didn't know it could go so wrong. Aside from that, I was hoping that the rice and beans that came as a side for the enchiladas would be my saving grace, but they were clearly not made fresh. They tasted like they had been sitting in containers and reheated, especially the rice. It wasn't hydrated properly and still had hard bits to chew on. The flavor was okay, but not great. It was all very dry. The beans didn't have much flavor to them aside from salt. The salad that came with the meal was okay, nothing special and probably typical as to any side salad you get from most restaurants. I didn't finish my meal and ended up throwing most of it away. I had some low expectations for a "Mexican" restaurant in Tamaqua, but this really surprised me with how bad the meal was. I'm telling anyone who will listen not to go to this establishment for Mexican. The Hometown Farmer's Market has a taco stand that tastes like the real thing. Terrible service and theft. My brother and I stopped in on Sat for dinner. The food was good. But the waitress kept forgetting parts of the order. We had to correct her 3 times. Asked for cheese sauce for the chips-2x, hot sauce 2x, didn't bring out my brothers fries but it was on the bill. These are all billable items. So my brother and I split the bill. I paid for myself and my daughter, my brother paid his part. I order 1 Yuengling Draft, Nacho Grande, cheese sauce, brisket sandwich, and an American Cheesesteak with chocolate milk for my daughter. Came out to $42 and change. Bc of the terrible service I didn't tip. I even wrote on the receipt why I didn't tip. And the took $52 from my card anyways. See if they are willing to steal money from me, they could be doing it to other people as well. Keep an eye on your bank statements if you eat here. Most people just trust that the place won't steal from them. But I get notifications about my purchases. It not about the money. It's about the theft. read more

This place is what it is, a 6 pack shop with cheapfood located next to a coal breaker and a derelict strip mall alongside a strip mined mountain in the coal region of PA. Hint: You might want to order 'bottled' water. I must say they have a decent beer selection for the area. I just wish the people working there knew more about the selection and didn't blanketly refer to anything other than Yuengling as 'weird beers'. This used to be a great place for wings, make sure you order them hot or they will taste like someone put ketchup on them. Wed. this is the place for cheap wings, but is also very busy. read more

Pains me to write this as the staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. I had seen the Yelp reviews and was hoping they were incorrect, as family members really wanted to come here. Just not a fan of the food, at all. Chips felt like they were out of a bag. Salsa was unremarkable. My shrimp dish was covered in some kind of processed cheese sauce that killed my appetite. Their bar seemed to be doing well, though. Maybe that could be an avenue of success for their team. I would recommend at least house-made tortilla chips and cutting out processed cheese could be two things that drastically change some of the impressions people get coming in. In northern Schuylkill County there seem to be a good number of authentic Mexican options in neighboring towns. I really want to give those a shot. If things change, I'd be willing to go back and give it another chance. read more

Dinner roulette chosen spot. Seat yourself, little slow to get drinks but when they arrived and order taken, nothing took very long. Food was outstanding. Appetizers and entrees were all very good. Lauren was absolutely an excellent server. There was a party of six adults and six kids when we entered. By the time we left the place was full. Lauren never missed a beat and was very calm and polite through the busy dinner. The chips (I think they make them there) and salsa are delicious. We usually drive an hour for Mexican and the chips and salsa are usually a good indicator of hour the meal is going to be. True to firm it was correct. The beef burritos and fajitas were delicious. The beef cooked fajita style w a nice lime sear all were big portions and very satisfying. I'm surprised that we hadn't heard nor been there earlier, but, better late than never. Check them out. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, sisters is not it. With that being said, it is a decent and affordable restaurant in the Tamaqua/Coaldale area. Since I've been there last the food has gotten a bit better. We got chips and salsa. You have to pay for this.. which is kind of ridiculous but I digress. The guacamole tasted store bought and not home made. I probably could make better guacamole at home. My mother and I got the shrimp wraps.. those were good, had A decent amount of shrimp on them and came with fries. These were decent but for $9.99 it's a good price for the amount of food you get. My dad got the Santa Fe chicken and that came with a salad and two sides. He really seemed to like it and would order it again. My aunt and uncle also joined and my aunt usually gets the same thing every time... coconut shrimp and French onion soup. The soup looked good but I can't figure out why a Mexican place would have that soup there. The coconut shrimp was fried, but didn't look too bad either. If you don't like fried food I wouldn't recommend. As far as drinks go.. there is a HH special on Fridays but only at the bar. There is a dining area near and almost in the bar but the special doesn't qualify there which is kind of ridiculous because it's in the same room... so if you want cheap beer you have to physically sit at the bar. The server was nice but a bit slow. Our food all came out correct though. Overall, this place is a good last minute place. I would probably give it 2.5 stars.. but would round to a 5. read more

This place is a 3.5 star, rounding up to 4 because the folks are nice. It's nothing fancy but cheap and gets the job done. Very clean on the inside and easy to park. It is on the outskirts of town and next to a brewery if you want to make an outing of it. read more

We went with another couple on a recent Saturday night. Decent food everything we tried was good. Including Wings, Fish Tacos, Seafood quesadilla and Mexican cheese steak pizza. We started with some adult beverages. My friend had a Watermelon Martini she like it so much she had two more. I had a Long Island Iced Tea and Sisters Lemonade, both good. Service was good, food was not. The cheese product (because there's no way it was anything BUT processed cheese) never had a chance to melt on my burger, it was still plasticy when i got my food. The ice cream that came with dessert separated when it melted, again leading me to believe it was less than natural. I got sick immediately after eating lunch here. I really wanted to like this place. The seafood nachos and the seafood enchiladas (actually anything with "seafood" in it) is an imitation crab in very heavy cream cheese and chive "dip" consistency. The enchiladas were covered in an odd cream of chicken cheese soup. The fish tacos were pretty weak. The fajitas were good but no extras like beans and rice, side of guacamole. Seems the prices are cheap but then sort of nicked and dimed for basic extras that most Tex Mex restaurants come complimentary. Like the chips and salsa (salsa is fantastic) there is a charge for this. I have to say the service was great and it's a inviting little hole in the wall. I love joints like this, they usually are gems, but this gem is a little rough but could have potential if they find some authentic Tex Mex recipes. I would come back and get more of the bar type food and hit the brewpub next door which was actually very fun with great craft beers that I believe is owned by the same people. So go, but go for the bar food it looked good as I spied on other people's plates. It's my thing. read more
