The entire reason I called was that I had a specific question I wanted to ask, and I could not locate anything on their website that could have answered my question. I contacted another hotel in the vicinity that actually answered my phone call and made me feel valued as a person and as a future guest at their hotel.

We stayed in the River Wild room, which had an outdoor entrance. The bed was comfortable, and the room was straightforward. Across the street is a coffee shop by day that turns into a nonalcoholic upscale bar type place in the evening. The breakfast was exceptional, and I appreciated their offer to make me some scrambled eggs since I'm allergic to dairy and could have the (delicious looking) frittatas. I was thrilled to have Metolius tea there. The hot tub is a nice amenity, though it was a bit scummy when I went in. I also was unaware that there was hot (and cold) water available in a book by the breakfast room for guests, and a mini fridge. None of the emails had mentioned anything about those, nor could I find any info in the room. So this is your heads up! I really wanted a cup of tea before bed, so having this info would have been appreciated. It's centrally located and great for walking to wherever you want to go, if that's your thing. (Or drive if it's not, lol)

Don't miss Bangers and Brews for a casual meal! 5 stars on Yelp. And Zydeco for a more formal dinner (closed for lunch on the weekend). This was our 2nd stay at this amazing bnb. Already made a reservation for 4 nights again next year! Hands down, our favorite bed and breakfast! And we have been to many countrywide. Pegi is the perfect hostess. Very respectful of our privacy...yet kind and loving. Our beatiful, sweet dog, Abby, died suddenly while we were staying here. Pegi was so sensitive to that. She gave heartfelt hugs to my wife and gave some very kind words of comfort. We so appreciated that. The gourmet breakfasts are to die for. Seriously. She has a binder with pictures and descriptions of each dish. Maybe 10 different starters...as well as about 10 main dishes. You can choose your favorites. Cooked to order. Yum! We feel so spoiled! The grounds are so beautiful and well maintained. I loved the "babbling brook" that fed a small pond. I had book in hand, and enjoyed several hours of relaxing to the sound of the water. So peaceful. The rooms .... Perfect. The bed....so comfortable! But honestly, I spent most of the time outside on the deck, or by the stream relaxing.

I contacted the owners of Rushing River from my home in Georgia when I saw their listing on a…read morerental site. My young adult children were hiking the PCT and one had blisters and needed to stop until my husband and I arrived 48 hours later, but with closed roads due to fire rebuilding and no Ubers or Lyfts in service in this remote area with no cell service, I asked Teresa if they were able to provide transportation if I rented a room for my youngest. Despite being a complete stranger, Teresa and Michael made calls to the nearby park rangers to determine how to access my son as if I were a member of their family, even though my children's trailhead was at Olallie Lake almost two hours away. As it turned out, the older siblings stayed and camped with my youngest due instead due to a snow storm which preventing hiking further south as they had planned, but my family was so appreciative that this couple was willing to go out of their way to help, so we made it a point to travel to Rushing River Retreat to meet these wonderful humans. Our family of five adults stayed for two nights in three rooms: my husband and I stayed in the queen room with the balcony inside the home, my boys shared one exterior queen room and my daughter had a second exterior queen room (these exterior rooms are privately accessed outside and they share an exterior and/or interior bathroom available to all of the guests who stay in exterior rooms.) Teresa and Michael open their home up to their guests, so we sat on the couch and chairs in the family room next to the kitchen and enjoyed the view through the picture window of the beautiful rushing river. My sons went swimming and my husband enjoyed fishing. It was lovely after our travels to relax in the hot tub. We are used to renting private spaces through Airbnb when the five of us travel together, but the best thing about this stay was sharing the common areas and getting to know Teresa and Michael. As so many other guests have commented on multiple review sites, this couple welcomes you into their home and shares their lives with you very generously. My young adult children are at the point in their lives where they're figuring out what they want to do for a vocation, so they were very interested in hearing about the varied experiences enjoyed by these gifted and creative entrepreneurs. We spent two weeks in Oregon, and much of our trip had to be reworked due to the snowstorm that changed the hiking plans, and Teresa and Michael gave us wonderful recommendations that guided our entire trip. We even checked in with them after we left the property, and they continued to guide us as we explored their home state. We enjoyed two delicious breakfasts during our stay, and Teresa even shared some of her leftover dinner with my oldest son who was still hungry when the dinner we prepared for the family left him feeling hungry for more! This was a wonderful place to relax, and there are plenty of places on the property to enjoy privately, as one couple did during our stay who we only saw when they filled their plates at breakfast. Then there were others, including one solo traveler who used one of the glamping spaces, who joined us inside at meal time and played board games with us. Whether you want to enjoy a relaxing private space or connect with a friendly and engaging couple, Rushing River is a wonderful place to retreat, relax and restore. It is definitely more than a place to lay your head; Teresa and Michael create an environment that restores your soul.

The majority of their business is focused on guests who are staying at the ranch (many from overseas) who want to go on longer trail rides or an old fashioned cattle drive a la City Slickers. Since we already have a home in the area, we didn't get to take advantage of their hospitality as guests. However, we did visit to enjoy a trail ride. My boys love to ride, but it has been quite difficult finding a trail ride that satisfies all of our needs. We've tried Diane's Riding Place, but they tend to be more instructional. The stables at the Seventh Mountain Resort were only OK. My goal was to get more of an 'authentic' trail ride with a little bit of fun. We were only partially successful. First off, making reservations wasn't terribly easy. After calling the main business line, I was given a second number to dial for the stables. Since the focus is on their ranch guests, they don't seem to be overly eager to take outside riders. Fortunately, some of those guests had another activity planned, so we were able to arrange a ride. It turned out to be semi-private and Katie was a wonderful guide. You will sign a brief liability waiver, and riders must wear jeans and boots. The boots requirement was a first, but fortunately they have plenty to borrow at no charge. Children are also required to wear helmets. The ranch covers 600 acres, so they took a gentle ride up through the hills to enjoy the view of the Three Sisters. It was a good ride, but low on the excitement factor. No cantering or galloping, just an easy mosey up and back. Unlike the prior reviewer, the ride lasted exactly 60 minutes, so no complaints there. It is really disappointing that there aren't more horseback riding options in the area. These hills are filled with ranches, but due to liability concerns, very few open their doors to the public. We still feel like we are searching to find that magical ride. http://www.lhranch.com/index.php

The Long Hollow Ranch checked every one of those boxes. We stayed in the Homestead cabin, which had three beds upstairs, and one downstairs. The cabin had two strong window AC units, which were wonderful. The cabin had no TV, which was great, but did have a vintage stove that served as a table top for the in-room microwave. There's also a mini-fridge and a Keurig Coffee Maker. Beds were comfy, bathroom has hot water in the shower, and the decor was fantastic. The morning breakfast was signaled by a good old-fashioned dinner bell at the main house, which is beautiful. There were lots of hash browns, fruit, juice and more. They even offered to cook each of us an egg to order, which our son took advantage of. The breakfast was absolutely great. All in all, this place was well worth the price, which was already much lower than other places on our trip. They even let us dabble with our fly pole in their bass pond free of charge. They accommodated our late check in (10 PM) and even had the AC going when we arrived. Customer service was top notch. This is the definition of a 5 STAR property.

Upon booking, you are provided all the necessary details via e-mail, including parking information and the code for the front door. This is a self check-in sort of thing, which works for me. The owner is readily available, via text, although we didn't need to contact her because everything was just fine. The downstairs of the inn includes multiple sitting rooms and a fully equipped kitchen. We definitely took advantage of the fridge and freezer during our stay. There are three guest rooms upstairs. Two share a bathroom at the end of the hall and our room had a gorgeous private bath. There is also a private cottage in the back of the property. (I do recommend earplugs, if you are a light sleeper.) The Crown Suite has plenty of room, including a king size bed, sitting chair, built-in table and bench seats, and a large TV. The bathroom is separated by a large, sliding barn door. The bathroom was well stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a hair dryer. The clawfoot tub was especially enjoyable after a long day of hiking and beer drinking. The bed was quite comfortable. They don't provide breakfast on site, although an ample morning meal is provided at their sister inn, The Mill Inn, which is an easy 10-15 minute walk (or very short drive) from Tudor Inn. (I'll post a separate review of breakfast.) Tudor Inn is located in the heart of downtown with many breweries, restaurants, and shops, as well as Drake Park and Mirror Lake within walking distance. This was a great "home base" for our time in Bend and I would definitely enjoy staying here again!
