My friend and I bought Groupon vouchers. I thought I had booked myself twice through the Groupon app so I tried to contact the place by email and phone, no luck. That was not a good sign. Ironically, AFTER you buy the voucher, you find it through Groupon that "customers have expressed that this merchant is hard to get a hold of." No kidding; thanks for the head up!
Anyway, my friend went to her 11am appt and was received with an attitude bcse she didn't confirm the appt before showing up. She told them that NOWHERE in their Groupon offer says that you have to call them before your appointment. The mood was ruined after that and she hated the experience. The girl doing her facial kept talking to another girl in their native language over her face and made her feel very uncomfortable. The products smelled like death- very strong and nauseating. My friend also had her eyebrows tinted and her eyebrows looked like two caterpillars and she had to keep telling her to make them thinner. Common sense tells you that you don't go from having very very thin eyebrows to looking like Frida Kahlo.
I arrived at 12 for my appt and after being ignored for 30 mins, I said "you know I had booked an appt for 12pm, right? - they both (sisters?) told me they couldn't take me bcse "they too busy" and I didn't call to confirm the appointment. I repeated what my friend had told them, that that wasn't specified in Groupon and they simply ignored me. I told them that I had actually emailed the place and that I never got a response - and they said they didn't get my message. And that I probably didn't call the right number. Nice. The taller sister went behind a curtain and kept talking about me to a customer as if I wasn't there. I took half day off from work so even after all that, I asked her to please do the facial. The sister that wasn't doing anything said no, "too busy" as she is standing there doing nothing. I then asked for my money back, they said no. I told her I was going to complain to Groupon and get my money back (I did! on an "exceptional basis") and that I was going to write a review about how unprofessional they are and my friend's experience. They didn't care so here's my review.
I regret having bought that voucher so much! I am all for small local businesses but not when they treat people like crap and don't value your time. The place is extremely small, not exactly a "spa"; it looked more like a recycled barber shop. No state of the art tools or techniques, that's for sure! And I don't know what they mean by "bar." I saw no bar in there or anything that resembles one- maybe behind the curtain- who knows! It's not very clean either. Don't take my word for it, do yourself a favor, and go in before you blindly buy a voucher from this place and you'll see what I'm talking about. The $5 you save in Groupon ain't worth it. Good luck to them- I wont set foot on that place again even if they offer me all their services for free! and I obviously don't recommend it.
UPDATE: My friend sent me pics of her face (this is 2.5 days) - all the "squeezed" areas are irritated and somewhat bruised. I feel bad for her but I'm even happier now that I didn't get my facial done with either equally-rude sister! read more
