New walk in Acrylic Shower

I was in the market for an updated wet space in my upstairs bathroom... Home Depot sent out Sir Home Improvement to give me a quote and to go over everything that I want/ Don't want... the price was definitely high at the first initial quote, but ended up getting it down to a more reasonable price by removing some features and buying my own. The salesman put down chrome shelf for the shower for some reason and said he would have it corrected for me going forward, project manager that came out said he did not change it on the paperwork and still had them down as chrome shelf's so he would fix it... the installer came out and they still didn't have the correct shelf that we wanted down for some reason, but Carter the installer was amazing and got it fixed up for me! Carter is a 1/ million employee that's hard to get these days, his partner and himself had the demo and shower done in 1 day despite some setbacks and hoops they had to endure! I absolutely love the shower that Carter put in, he's extremely particular in his measurements and making sure everything fits and goes together well while looking amazing! Day 2 they sent a floor installer out to put down new floor, the floor looks nice that they used, some minor cleanup issues with the floor install, but there's so much that goes into these jobs that it just happens being human... So far, I'm impressed with this company and I would recommend them and will definitely be doing future business with them as I will be needing new floor and an updated bathroom wet space downstairs next time! Another perk is the energy program that comes free with them, it may not be a ton of savings per year on energy, but anything helps and the technician for the energy program was super kind and professional at his job! Thanks again!

Calking around the window doesn't look great,

I contracted with SIR to replace my tub with a walk-in shower, remove wainscoting, install a new medicine cabinet, light fixture, and hanging cabinet in my small bathroom. This was in May 2024. They were friendly and arrived when expected, but the quality of work wasn't great. These were the main issues: 1) When removing the wainscoting, the guy broke off about six inches of my window frame and a huge chunk of my door frame. He said nothing about it. I had to call SIR and they replaced the frames, but then I had to re-paint the walls. 2) The calk around the window is bumpy and looks bad. 3) The drywall guy decided to drywall my ceiling to smooth out some grooves. That was a nice thought, but I was 20 feet away from him all day and he should have asked me. I would have said no - since he applied the drywall, I had to paint the ceiling. I'd had spine surgery recently and can't tilt my head back very far. It took 4 months before I had healed enough to paint it finally. 4) They installed a small vent in the wall, but the hole was too big and the vent hangs loose so you can see the jagged hole in the drywall behind it. 5) flooring has lines against the grain so it looks defective. 6) I noticed that the workers kept their tools on my new shower floor (my bathroom is small) and I figured they knew what they were doing. But after they were gone I noticed a scratch in the shower. You can only see it up close, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause a problem. A guy from SIR came out to check and said it was too deep for him to fix. He also found another one. He said he'd put in a work order, but it's been several weeks and I haven't heard back from them, so I'll have to call. 7) There was some poor communication and other minor issues too numerous to mention. I will try to load some pictures of the sub-par work. I do believe that if I had contacted SIR about all of these issues they would have taken care of them. I just didn't want to have to deal with it anymore. I only have the one bathroom and I work from home, so it was a hassle. I was surprised that the PM didn't do a walkthrough when it was done.

They responded within 2 hours on a warranty work order to remedy the problem (during the wind storm) and check the house for any other potential issues. No questions asked, no hassle about it being 'an extreme event'. Just took my call, dispatched a laborer, job done. We contracted Lyster to replace our roof and siding in 2015. They did a fantastic job. They gave great support on developing scope and estimate on the roof per how we where using the house. We have a converted attic to living space and as such we had ice damming issues that led to the need for a new roof. They went above code on ice protection and modified the roof deck to ventilate 'as best as possible' per our use of the space. Wonderful communication, great project management, easy to work with on issues that are always bound to come up on renovations. I will admit they were not our low bidder, but their price was reasonable and their workmanship and support of their work was worth the price. You get what you pay for.

He was pleasant and spent over an hour to tell me the information on the windows. Then in a few weeks someone came to measure and placed the order. Feb 14. is when the installers came to put them in. I watched them do every step, to learn everything I could with asking questions It was a trip for them to come from PawPaw to Muskegon the three days. I really like my windows and the house is warmer. The girl in the office was very nice to me, called me many times with questions and also after to see How I like the windows. Did I see anything not right? All I saw was a screen need fixing in the corner. She said that they will come and fix it. I didn't read the other ratings reports on here, so I wanted to share my experience. Just need to be patience, it was very cold. ** UPDATE 11.21.20…read more ** The owner took control of the situation near the end. He communicated with me directly multiple times to make sure I was taken care of and even came out to check the work on our windows himself and gave me updates on anything after the project was done. All in all the windows are wonderful and the owner did his best to make the situation right and I appreciated it greatly. The "House Special" windows are nice, just as the sales rep talked them up to be. Love them! The company on the other hand has some work to do. The customer service and communication were horrible for my project. I never knew who was coming or when they were coming to my home due to contractors being late or just not showing up at all for their appointment. As much as I would love to believe the owner cared about the situation I left conversations with him feeling belittled like it was all my fault their company could not get their business together and the owner's tone on the phone made me feel as though I was annoying him by complaining about the lack of customer satisfaction on our $35k project. Zero empathy from anyone I talked to. I have never been so dissapointed in a company and I use Comcast lol.

Mr. Reighard sold us on the quality and beauty of the door we were considering and although I had not planned to make a purchase today we did buy the Pella door. We are replacing a Pella door that has seen 30 years of hard use. The price was almost half of what I was quoted by a major competitor we think it's an outstanding value.

I am not a person who normally complains a lot, but our experience with Pella was infuriating…read more They sold us 5 new windows and aluminum wrap on those and 3 existing windows. The installers were nice, but they did an incredibly shoddy job on the wrap, with pieces buckling and hanging long past the edges and/or partially split. Each of the 8 wraps had issues, many had multiple issues, and some were large enough that you could see it from a significant distance. We pointed it out to the sub and they tried to claim it was supposed to be like that and would let the water run off, which even if it was true wouldn't make sense since they had a couple that didn't stick out on one side! We are getting our siding done and the measurer for that project happened to come the next day and confirmed it was poorly done and would prevent them from installing the new J channels flush to the windows. The person I spoke to at Pella later and the person the subcontract managing the install both saw pictures and at least acknowledged it was badly done. The Pella measurer did a lead test and told me it was negative. I thought that was surprising since our house was built in 1941, and told him so, but figured it was possible. When the sub came to do the install they had a positive test and said they would do lead safe practices, but that didn't happen - they did nothing to contain the risk of dust entering the inside of our house - no plastic, but they later lied and claimed they did to Pella. They even told Pella that they put up a lead hazard sign, which is also a total lie and was easy enough for us to get confirmation from our neighbors, other contractors doing separate work on our house, and my own eyes, as I was present for some of the work. The measurer also did a poor job as they had to add stops on some of the windows to plug the gaps in the difference in the size from the order. Pella originally sold us new basement windows only for the measurer to come out later and say the salesperson never should have sold us them and installation wasn't possible. So we had to redo that contract and find a new company to do the basement windows. We went with Pella, knowing we were paying more than we would with other contractors who even install Pella windows themselves, because we expected quality service. I got a call from the person whom Pella subcontracts managing the install and she was nice but wanted to have the same subcontractor come out to redo the work. I was hesitant given the initial shoddy quality but agreed. I asked about the lead and she explained that wasn't her area but said she would have a manager at Pella call me (I guess they weren't going to?). I got a call from Mike Nelson at Pella, who never apologized and just said they would make it right by having the people come out to redo it. When I asked about the lead he said the installers indicated they followed lead safe practices, including putting up plastic and a lead hazard sign. At that point I got upset because I knew it was a bold faced lie. I just want my money back on the wraps and get someone else to do the work because I do not trust those subcontractors. Supposedly I will hear back by the end of the next business day from someone else about refunds (I was told I was not allowed to have their number myself) but my experience so far indicates Pella will refuse to take responsibility.
