The welcoming feeling you get when you come inside of here is top tier. I was strolling by with a friend back in January and we stopped to look at all of the upcoming events in the window. The owner came outside, greeted us, and started telling us about all of the upcoming events she has within her shop. So of course we ended up going inside and browsing. And of course I bought a gift for a friend, who loved them so much she told me she had to space out how much she drinks them. I got her Bora Bora, Don't Cramp My Style which is for periods, and a third that I can't remember the name of, but it's fruity. So after hearing how much my friend enjoyed her gift, I returned in the beginning of February during one of the tea tasting events and walked out with Heavenly Pears and another one by the name of Puerh... I forget the full name but it's fermented black tea and is so strong that it reminds me of coffee, but it is caffeine free. I went to Trader Joe's right after leaving Sips, bought some heavy whipping cream and headed home to make the Puerh. I had it with brow sugar and some heavy whipping cream. It was so good. I, too, am spacing out how much I drink these so I don't run out but this is the perfect spot to find gifts for the tea lovers in your life. I stopped in this weekend to have a look as I passed by their store. Had a nice conversation with the owner's friend (who was helping her out with the store that day) and discovered that they have free tea taste testing events on most Saturdays from 3pm to 5/6pm, as well as some fun (includes music or a soundbath element) and informative workshop events (on matcha tea etc) which would be great to experience with family and friends. Also found out that they only source their matcha from specific farms in Japan, and offer level 5 and 6 matchas in their selections. I found out about Sips on my FB newsfeed page last month (Grand Opening ad). Sips Global Teas has loose leaf teas from Africa, Asia, South America and Germany. I am truly amazed at the assortment of teas - black tea, green tea, rooibos, caffeine-free. According to what I read about Sips, they offer over 85 different teas. They even offer a workshop for customers who want to customize their own teas. The ambiance is mellow and comfortable. Teas are displayed on both walls. Besides the packages of teas, they have little bottles of the tea which you can open and smell the aroma of the teas. Customer service was excellent. The owner's daughter was extremely helpful and pleasant. She answered my questions about hibiscus teas and the benefits thereof. Another tea I was interested in was the butterfly pea flower tea, a blue tea. Add lemon to the tea, and it changes from blue to purple. I will have to start drinking more tea, especially the hibiscus for managing my blood pressure. The hibiscus tea most likely would be more beneficial for my health than taking the prescribed medication (metoprolol tartrate) from Kaiser. Purchase: 2 ounce bags of herbal teas - butterfly pea flower and Bora Bora. Price: $30. The owner's daughter mentioned to me that the Bora Bora tea was customed made by her mother. Ingredients for the Bora Bora tea are as follows: hibiscus blossoms, apple pieces, papaya cubes, currants, elderberries, blackcurrant flavoring, freeze-dried raspberries pieces and strawberries pieces, sunflower and cornflower blossoms. What a great find! This is my first time in the marketplace and I stumbled upon this tea store. The teas (and spices) are lined up against the wall, and there are tester containers of so many teas that you can smell. There is a great selection of chai, colombian, japanese, fruity, medicinal, etc. They offer 2 free samples of teas on Saturday and the owner (Marlene) encourages you to sit down to enjoy it. She is super knowledgable and open to questions and comments. We even sampled an experimental tea she had brewing. Marlene was super friendly and recommended teas based off our preferences. She is always finding new products and adding them as well. Definitely worth checking out for tea enthusiasts! I went to the tea pairing class and that was pretty informative and interesting. I like the chocolates, cheeses, and crackers that they provided. You're in a class of 4 people and the class is 2-3 hours long. The shop had a lot of different types of tea leaves and is located in a grocery store. However, the assistant filmed/recorded us several times throughout the class. We didn't sign a waiver and she didn't ask for our permission. When I asked why she was filming us, she said she wanted to post us on social media. We then asked her not to post our information/images on social media and she agreed to our request. In the future, I think the tea shop should ask for consent before recording customers. read more

We had a fabulous afternoon at Sips Global Teas. We signed up for the tea blending with cheese/chocolate pairings. Madeline was an excellent hostess. She guided us through our personal tea profile. We then began the process of making a personal blend from our preferences. She also gave us a fun lesson on the history of tea. I lost count of all the teas we were able to try. My friend and I attended the Tea Blending with Cheese/Chocolate Pairings Workshop at Sips Global Teas in Alameda. We had a great time at the event. The owner and our hostess, Marlene, lead us through a fun afternoon of tea tasting, tea pairing and tea blending. Under Marliene's guidance my friend and I were able to choose the ingredients and blend our own unique tea blends. Not only did we both leave with an enriched knowledge of teas, but we also each have a personal tea blend that we made to enjoy in the comfort of our homes.
