I had known of Scooters before they came to Columbia because there's a franchise in my hometown but…read moreI never stopped in - mainly because of it's inconvenient location on a right corner of a street I was always turning left on. The Columbia location, however, is located right next to a light I always seem to get stuck at, and I must admit that their drive-thru has been calling my name for quite some time now. After a few weeks of staking out the property, I finally decided to check out what I had heard to be a wonderful establishment, and I was pleasantly surprised with my entire experience. Bianca and I entered Scooters and were immediately impressed with it's chic yet comfortable atmosphere. We both expected it to feel a bit more like a Panera or local mom-and-pop coffee shop with red and orange warm tones and fabrics that felt cheap, but were pleasantly surprised by their deep red and black interior design that made our breakfast experience feel more five star than fast food. While ordering, I did notice that prices were pretty expensive. A large specialty iced espresso is around $5.50, and their small is around $4 - not necessarily prices I could swing for every day. I opted for the Iced Turtle Espresso, which resembled a turtle sundae. Aside from the unnecessary price, the coffee was pretty good. There could have been more ice in my drink and I don't believe I'll go with such a sweet specialty flavor next time, but I would definitely order the coffee again. With my coffee I also got a breakfast bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. It was ready rather quick after I ordered, and upon eating it I realized it was entirely microwaved, yet still very good. Once I got past the slightly doughy texture, I was able to enjoy the sandwich quite much. My entire meal (coffee + breakfast sandwich) ended up being $11. The only downside to Scooters was that the inside portion was extremely warm, so Bianca and I chose to sit outside under the covered patio. There was a light rain that led to a lovely breeze for the outdoor diners. Once we returned inside to bring my plate back, though, it had seemed to cool off and become a very comfortable temperature. All in all, I would recommend Scooters to a friend.
