BKK Thai Street Food - Coconut Shrimp

BKK Thai Street Food

The most authentic Thai food in the area. My go-to has been…read morethe Pad Kra Pao and the coconut shrimp. It can run on the spicier side, but that's exactly how the dish is supposed to be made. We've been back more than a handful of times now, and it hits the spot every single time. The service is great and the location is peaceful which is perfect for enjoying a meal outdoors with friends.

I have been wanting to try BKK FOOD TRUCK for quite some time. Since it has been a dismal rainy day…read more-I decided to give it a try. I ordered an appetizer as well as 3 main course dishes since there was 3 of us here for dinner. I ordered Fried Tofu with Peanut Sauce. I must say I've been searching for the texture and flavor of the same dish that I ordered in Houston a few years ago. I've ordered it numerous times but never found one that duplicated what I remember as so very tasty. Well-this time I hit the jackpot!!! It was the exact taste and texture with the perfect peanut sauce accompanying it. It was fantastic!! One of the entre'es was Pineapple Curry. I chose Shrimp as my protein for an up-charge. It came with a good quantity of white rice. It didn't denote a spice level but when I dug into it -there were some beautiful shrimp swimming in a red curry. I felt it likely it would have some heat and it did. The heat came at the back of my tongue but curiously it tasted so good I couldn't stop eating it!!! It had some grape tomatoes (I think) cooked in it. I didn't care for the flavor of those -?over ripe?- There were a small quantity so I didn't let it stop me. I did take frequent sips of my cold drink in between my bites. The second entre'e was Fried Rice with scrambled egg and peas&carrots&onion. My son chose Chicken Breast as his protein. He doesn't eat veggies so I requested they didn't add them. When we examined the dish they had indeed removed them. He was very impressed and said it was delicious. The 3rd dish was Drunken Spicy Noodles -which was made with Thai Basil and Peppers. I requested the Thai Basil and Peppers be held and advised we wanted no heat in that dish. My husband doesn't tolerate any spice-even black pepper. His dish looked lovely with sauce covered noodles and lots of thinly sliced beef on top. I served it up. Sadly, he immediately advised me it was too spicy for him. I took a piece of broccoli & a small piece of beef and sure enough when I ate it there was enough spice that my tongue and mouth got hot & numb from the spice level. It was actually too much heat for me too. I actually looked at the ticket for the order that was attached to the bag and it clearly had indicated no heat, no peppers and no spice for that last dish. I did withhold a star due to that. It was evident that our food was prepared and served hot as it was still quite warm when it was delivered. I felt that indicated good service. I can't really speak to the setting, I am familiar with that area of food trucks, but since we had delivery, it really didn't apply. I definitely would try BKK again, but next time in person as I feel like you can't clearly communicate in an online order regarding specificity to your requirements for your food.

We added on a Dillas carne asada with avocado crème on the side. First I want to note there are not traditional street tacos but an elevated smoked version. Ounce I took a bite of the carne asada dilla (quesadilla) with a crusted cheese shell I was hit with the Smokey perfection of the meat. The next bite I decided to dip it into the avocado crema and wow!! As a non sauce person this sauce was so yummy! The Smokey meat combo with the right amount of cheese and crema was the perfect combination. The tacos come with cilantro and onions we went sans onions. The asada was tender and chicken. The carne asada had that smoke flavor and was just the right texture. I do recommend adding lime and the crema sauce as it helps elevate and level out the Smokey flavor. The service is friendly and genuine. The location is next to a local bar and fellow food truck. So expect to share a table and meet people if it's busy. We went on a rainy cool day and fully enjoyed the area. They ran out of gas and went above and beyond and gave us extra tacos while we waited for a portion of our order. Supporting small businesses is a key focus for us when we go out. Be gentle and kind. Last the chips! They were fresh, toasted and I dare say home made ? I vote if you are looking for an authentic take on tacos "Tacos Take it Easy" is a must try.

Since I'm mostly pescatarian and no longer eat pork, chicken or beef my selections were limited. I could choose between Nachos and the Dilla and I chose the Dilla. I asked the owner Andy if he could add beans so I could still get my protein in for the day and he kindly obliged. I left to go walk my dog and came back to my food being ready with some small samples of queso and guacamole to boot. Between stickers and dog talk, Andy served up some great customer service. I really appreciated it, because sadly it's kinda lacking these days. Not here though! The quesadilla looked so appetizing and I could hardly wait to eat it. I had to though, because I needed to jump into a work meeting when I got back home. The quesadilla was well packed and still warm when I got off the meeting. The flavors were sooooo good they perked up my taste buds! I liked the queso which a lot which was nice and creamy and the guacamole was good, it had a nice tangy taste. Needless to say, I've found my new spot for a quick "I don't feel like cooking but want something delicious" meal. I'll definitely be back soon. Yum would be an understatement!

Or if ur up for it - you can play "who can spot the most things out of plumb?" You don't just grab a drink, you embark on a quest. How will you injure yourself first at this bar / construction site. Let's talk about the playground--because yes, there's a playground. Nothing says "relaxing night out" like cracked slide equipment that looks like it's one enthusiastic kid (or adult, no judgment) away from becoming a physics lesson. Add in a generous sprinkling of rusty nails and broken glass on the play truck and you've got yourself a full nostalgia-meets-tetanus situation. And then there's the legendary pergola: beams casually chilling in what appear to be old buckets, held together by vibes, hope, and whatever higher power oversees questionable DIY projects. It's less "shade structure" and more "structural suggestion." Bonus points: there are plenty of places to smoke--like, plenty. If you've ever thought, "I wish I could light up while contemplating my life choices next to a semi-stable wooden structure," this is your moment. Honestly, it's kind of impressive. Charmingly unpolished. But impressive in the way a shopping cart going downhill unattended is impressive--you can't look away. Come for the drinks, stay because you're carefully plotting your exit route.

The seating setup is a big win-I really liked the layout and the outdoor eating atmosphere. It gives the place a relaxed, enjoyable feel and makes it a nice spot to hang out and eat. Food-wise, everything was good, but the loaded bacon fries were a bit dry and could've used more sauce to really bring them together. The other items were solid and satisfying. I'm giving it 4 stars-great atmosphere and good food, just a little room for improvement with the fries. I'd still come back and try more off the menu.

Such a good little gem tucked away in a food truck lot in Leander!…read moreThey have plenty of parking and shaded seating with music playing, looked like maybe 4 trucks in total? There's also a decent play area that I *assume* kids can play on, though it's off to one side and near some camper vans. Brito's appears to be Venezuelan-Texan food, with a variety of burgers alongside brisket arepas and empanadas. For a weekday, they had a steady stream of customers the whole time I was here, though I didn't have to wait long either. The woman taking orders was so sweet and even ran my card out to me when I accidentally left it in the card reader. I ended up ordering the brisket arepa at the recommendation of a regular customer ahead of me in line. Delicious. They make a good brisket, y'all! The succulent meat fusing with latinx influence of the arepa for a result reminiscent of Valentina's taco truck (RIP). I'm not an arepa expert, but it was delicious, and PACKED with the good stuff. No skimping here. It also comes with a salsa that seemed like an avocado sauce...only thing I would change is for the sauce to be stronger, as it was too subtle for me and I like a kick. Can't wait to come back and try the burgers now that I know they can cook a brisket.
