Each dish was served with an amazing medley of vegetables including leeks, carrots, pea pods. The mashed and roast potatoes were both perfectly cooked! The cod was flaky and perfectly cooked - much better than what is had at a popular steak house earlier this week, in fact the whole meal was far superior and cheaper too! The pork belly skin was deliciously crispy and the pork pull-apart juicy and tender, Despite the size of our party (10) there were no errors, delays or issues. Drinks came fast and were very good! The servers were wonderful, efficient and very friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone and hope were able to return ourselves!

For a drink on a Saturday afternoon I'd highly recommend it. However, I went with my girlfriend's family for a meal, and this was where the place fell down. The price wasn't great, £17 for a steak which came with no vegetables or chips. This seems a little steep unless its going to be an excellent steak. It wasn't. Three of us ordered the sirloin steak, all of us asked for medium-rare, all of them arrived fully brown all the way through. I guess the sauce was OK and the herby chips were nice. All in all, I'd recommend it for a drink but not for a meal, pity because as I said, its a gorgeous little place.

We couldn't resist the same starters as before- the smooth and seriously flavoursome Chicken Liver Parfait, along with the warm cheesy feast that is the Goat's Cheese Salad. Boyfie had the classic beef Sunday lunch and I had the slow roasted lamb. The portions (especially the lamb) were significant and everything on the plate was cooked with care and competence...all this served up with smiling, cheerful, attentive, excellent staff. Bravo. Bravo. Bravissimo :) It was a shame we were in a hurry so desert will have to wait for next time, but I was treated to a desert of the soul when I was offered two beautiful, bright, dizzyingly fragrant yellow roses from the garden as a thanks for adding the business to Yelp!! Warm fuzzy feelings of extreme happy?? You bet :) Make time for The Crooked Billet, go enjoy a walk then spend some quality time eating superb food in the friendliest pub you could ever wish for. Just a tip- Sunday's are busy so it may be worth booking, although you can eat in the bar or even outside.

Will be back, although maybe chose the smaller portion option next time, because trust me this place fills the plate with food, lovely and well done the Crooked Billet.

We got menus from a stack on a nearby service table. Although we were not really wanting a buffet, the a la carte menu was limited to Eggs Benedict and breakfast sandwiches. So buffet it was. The buffet looked miserable to say the least. The bacon was hard, cold and swimming in grease. The black pudding looked like old hockey puck and the bangers, overcooked and burnt. A choice of fried eggs, again floating in grease or scrambled, at least that's what we thought they were. Tinned tomatoes, baked beans and mushrooms were also on offer. The buffet area was in desperate need of a wipe down from all the splashed grease threatening to get on guests clothes. A self service toaster with a basket of white and wheat bread were available. However, the 2 toasters were not working. The same with the coffee machine and hot water machine. We mentioned to the manager regarding to non functioning appliances and we got a muttered apology but no offer to comp us some alternative drinks. We had to order (and pay extra) for juices just to have something to drink. Our British family were embarrassed by the poor dining experience, having built up the Full English breakfast. In essence, the service was non existent, the food sub par and the atmosphere lacking. All in all the only thing that was good about going to Birchwood Farm is we were with our family.
