The New Inn has recently changed hands. The décor hasn't chanced much and it still has a homely friendly feel. However, they USED to serve a large mixed grill, £10.99 and there was loads. If you could finish it you were one of the few. But whether you finished or not it was a great meal and a great price.
Me and my family had our Christmas meal there last night. We ordered 4 of these mammoth meals, the ladies in our group ordered different items. The price has gone up to £15.95 which is pretty expensive by most pub/restaurant prices. BUT for the mammoth meal it was still worth its money. What came wasn't worth it's money in any sense of the word. The new menu promises a meal of immense proportion, to the degree that they state "IF you can finish the meal you get a pudding for free".
It was no better than any other pub, and about £5 dearer.
The meal has steak, we weren't asked how we wanted it and had to send it back as it was rare/Medium rare and still bleeding on our plates, which is fine for some but we like ours well cooked.. My wife sent her stake back and got it back perfectly cooked by her Gammon had gone missing. My meal came out and I had to wait another 5 minutes for my steak to be cooked and then I had to ask for the coleslaw that should have come with the meal.
The young lady who was serving us was very polite and the Chef came out and again was lovely. full marks on that front. Eventually once the food was out and cooked, was very nice but there was a lot of mistakes.
Both myself, my brother and father in law used to go come here for every birthday as we all have good appetites, its a beautiful location. After last night's performance and the lack of the larger meal we all enjoy. We wont be going back. the meal we had, had it been cooked properly and everything there I would have happily paid £10 for. But £15 for a mixed gril? I think not. read more
