Popped into this place last night while finishing up my errands. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they are open later than most of the restaurants in the same area. The restaurant is located on California and Stockdale in a nonchalant retail center and kind of tucked in the back. There is plenty of parking and it is safe as there are a ton of lights around. When I walked in the place was a little busy with a few families wrapping up their dinners. They have a few booths, one long community table in the middle of the restaurant and then they have a large booth that can probably accommodate 4 to 5 adult adults. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. And my server was kind enough to explain the level of spiciness for each curry and how they are prepared. There is a sign at the check-in encounter that states they do not use MSG in their restaurant... So I'm sure this is a major plus for people that are sensitive to MSG. I ordered the eggrolls from the appetizer menu, a Thai iced tea with Boba, and the chicken curry, which is a yellow, mild curry, and that came with a side of rice. The Thai iced tea was delicious. Unlike other places, I've had it. It was not too sweet, just sweet enough. The Boba was tender and chewy and was also sweetened so whoever made it knew what they were doing. The eggrolls came out and were served with a side of what I will call cucumber relish. The cucumber relish was delicious and so refreshing. It contained finally sliced cucumber, as well as minced red onion, and some sort of sauce, and a little bit of sweetness. It definitely complimented the egg rolls. The eggrolls are vegetarian egg rolls. They do contain glass noodles. While they were delicious and fresh, I found them to be a little bit bland. The vegetables inside the egg roll could use a little seasoning and they could have been cooked a little bit longer to get the vegetables to steam a little bit longer. While I like my vegetables firm, I definitely don't like them raw, especially inside an egg roll. The chicken curry was also very tasty. And while it is the milder of the curries, it had a little punch. That is OK by me because I like spicy things. The curry broth or sauce was very flavorful and creamy. The chicken was also delicious. It was diced or sliced white meat, it looks like they use chicken breast, and you could tell that it was seasoned and potentially boiled in a seasoned broth. So everything blended together and was flavorful. The chicken curry also had some potato... I personally would like more potato and maybe some carrots. The white rice was also good... It was pretty standard and customary however they could add a little bit more. While looking at the menu, I noticed that they had lunch specials and they were very good deals. I recommend this place either for lunch or for dinner... I am definitely going back to try some of the other dishes. My meal was so good. I ordered pineapple fried rice to go. And of course, I had to taste it when I got home. It was tasty but could use a little more seasoning. Since it's been overnight in my fridge already, I am hoping that the flavors had an opportunity to blend together and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for lunch later today. Enjoy! Ps. I posted a picture of one of my to-go containers... they are great quality and leak proof, which is a major plus when you have to take saucy food home.
My wife ordered the red curry and said it was delicious. I had the chicken curry, which was very flavorful and tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to coming back!
It doesn't look like much because it's in the strip, but it's actually really really good. Delicious Thai food. The shrimps are always delicious and Flesch and their nails are huge for the price that you pay. Really nice service family owned really enjoyed it lots of flavors and really enjoy the atmosphere of a small sitting area so on some busy nights it does get pretty crowded if you go in earlier or later, you're always bound to get a seat. They're also really good. It's a takeout place if you just take it home and relax.
Food is sooooo sooo sooo sooo good! I truly enjoyed the Red Curry with bamboo shoots. Extra Rice PLEASE !!! Service was good. I love family owned restaurants... it feels like you're visiting your favorite Asian auntie's house for some home cooked meals. Ambiance was chill, dimmed lighting, and quiet music ... you can hear the whispers and laughter from the surrounding tables. Definitely a great place to have family meals ...
I am incredibly biased when it comes to Singha Thai. I've been going here for years, their tom yum kai is my go to for whenever I have a cold. The place is entirely family run and everyone is very sweet. They have put a lot of time, money and hours into this place and it shows. The walls are wood paneled with these amazing large and colorful art pieces. If you come here in the evening, the entire place sort of glows gold, it's really pretty to be in. If you come around their lunch time though, you can take advantage of their lunch specials. Last time I was here with a friend, we got the drunken noodles and I got the panang curry lunch special. Their noodles fresh are so good. It is that one dish that hits the spot every time for me. As for their curries, I think I enjoy their red and yellow the most. The panang is good, but I like the others a bit better. It is a great go to if you are looking for a good starter dish to try. I love this place and will continue to go here!
Singha Thai is my Mom's favorite! I've been hearing about it for years so on my recent trip back home, we finally went for lunch! And let's just say, "I can see why she loves it!" For starters, they are affordably delicious and one of the only restaurant's nowadays that has a lunch special. $10 dollars can get you a soup or salad, your entree of choice and rice. My mom's go-to is the Singha Thai Special. It comes with fresh vegetables, your choice of protein and white rice. The sauce on it is very subtle and well-balanced. I'd say go for this dish when you are not looking for something very sweet or spicy! I decided to order the Thai Ginger. It's a great option if you really love ginger. I'll probably try the Singha Thai Special or another option, next time. We split an order of Fried Egg Rolls. They were crispy and crunchy! I really loved the sauce they came with to dip. It really paired nicely. They also put glass noodles in them... it was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is very simple with no-frills! I'd say it's a place to go with your family for a quick meal, as you'll sure to be greeted with a smile and prompt service. (:
I usually don't leave reviews but this was so good I just had to! The rice was seasoned great and has the perfect amount of spicy without being too hot. I took all my pics half way through so empty plates here (so not sorry it was that tasty). The sauce for the egg rolls and wontons make the appetizers that much better so don't skip and some Thai tea with boba to quench the spice! Go for lunch, the spot was not so busy so not much wait time and a calm scene to relax while you eat. Enjoy!
Took myself on a solo date, and was very glad I decided to choose a place I've never been. It was definitely a chilly night and needed something to warm up. I had the Tom yum soup, and it was great! Loved the fried wontons on top. Service was fast and very friendly, I'll gladly come back to try other options.
SUPERIOR SERVICE! If you're looking for a great meal on a night out, look no further. The pad thai, pineapple fried rice, and mango sticky rice are the best Thai food we've had in town. We love the Thai tea. The restaurant is family owned, with the same family providing excellent, attentive service for years. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, with a large table in the center for parties and groups. Check this place out, you will not be disappointed.
If you're looking for a cozy Thai food spot with great food let me put you on Singha Thai! The restaurant itself is very small and cozy. The sitting is comfortable and the staff is extremely kind. The menu has so many different options to look at including vegetarian options! We ordered the appetizers combo, yum yai salad, combination seafood soup, crab noodles, deep fried banana, and sticky rice with mango. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. The waitress first brought out our drinks and appetizers, then she came back with the rest of our food. I was very satisfied with the service. I'm definitely going to have to come back to try something new.
So this is the first Thai restaurant I have been to in Bakersfield. And I have been going there for 17 years. About time to write a review. They actually remodeled the place a few years ago, but it has an old school vibe. The same 3 ladies has been serving the food the last 17 years. If you come here, come prepared for the heat. They have the hottest dish in town, the dragon fire with habanero. Today, we had the green papaya salad and satay chicken appetizer, both are perfectly delicious. The main course we had shrimp and squid basil which was my favorite, and my wife loved the ginger beef. Both dishes were extremely well seasoned, with plenty of kick.

First off- I have a very very high tolerance for spicy food. I have always been able to eat and enjoy spicy foods but their green curry was too spicy! My mouth was on fire the whole time which made it hard to enjoy the other flavors in the curry. The curry was still very tasty though other than that! Their mango sticky rice was pretty good too. FYI They don't have fountain drinks, they bring you canned soda and a cup with ice. read more

This is one of my favorite Thai places. The food is always on point, and service is always good. This time, I wanted to try something new. Usually I'm a Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice kind of guy, but I turned to the back of the menu and saw this bowl of soup that looked so inviting and delicious. I had to try it. Enter: Tom Yum Soup. Life changing. Seriously. Get it. You can choose what meat to get it with, but I asked the owner for a recommendation and she told me to get it with chicken. Boy, was she right. It was delicious. It has a bit of a kick, but it's nothing any Thai aficionado can't handle. More flavorful than spicy. Wife got the Chicken Fried Rice, and it was just as good as always. It made for great leftovers, since wifey came and sat next to me to help me put down the big bowl of soup. As the weather gets colder, we'll definitely be back to grab it again. Try ir out. You won't regret it! read more

This is truly one of Bakersfield's hidden gems. Because of this place, I and my husband have grown to love Thai food so much. There is so much variety on the menu, and I enjoy that they have a special lunch combo menu. The service is always great with quick and friendly employees. They always walk around the restaurant to check for refills, and they always seat you as soon as they can. I've been to this place plenty of times during the afternoon and during the evening for dinner. My go-to dishes are the Panang Chicken Curry, Medium Spicy Rice, Tom Yum Soup, and Chicken Satay. Also, their Thai tea is delicious! The Panang Curry always tastes sooo good poured over the white rice. I always end up eating the spicy rice on the side too because as an Asian, I can never have enough rice. My husband loves the Spicy Rice so much. He always has cravings, and he'll start to bug me when he needs an excuse to come to this place. The Tom yum soup is always the perfect temperature. It's not ever hot enough to burn your mouth, but it's always hot enough to complement the flavors. I always have so much fun eating the Chicken Satay because it's served on a stick. I like to spread the peanut sauce all over the chicken, and then diving right in. I am determined to make my family come here to celebrate my birthday. My family is so skeptical of Thai food because they think all of it is spicy. What's nice is that you can choose the strength of spiciness of any dish here. It's my goal to get my family to love Thai food just as much as I do. With Singha Thai, I know that I'm going to have no problem achieving that goal. read more

Short Version: Great food and variety, good prices, interesting setting. I will definitely be going back for the homemade coconut ice cream. Elaborated Version: Stopped by for dinner and the food was delicious. I had the chicken curry, my wife had the pad thai, both dishes were very delicious. Their menus is quite extensive, there is something for everyone; even for those who don't usually trek outside of their usual cuisines. Their portions are relatively lighter than some, but enough to leave you satisfied. One item worth mentioning is their HANDMADE COCONUT ICE CREAM! Seriously, get it! It's that good. The consistency of the ice cream is a fluffy one and melts in your mouth. Never had anything quite like it Atmosphere/Decor is interesting as well. From the outside you don't really expect it, and it's nice to know they put attention to not only serving good food, but creating a good setting to dine at. Go there if you're in the mood for some thai. read more
Just to note...They will not accommodate changes in anything. My meal came with steamed rice I asked if for additional price can I get fried rice and it was an absolute no. You have the option of soup or salad with your lunch special. There is only one option of type of soup to choose from and today was vegetable soup. I chose the salad instead that comes with the meal it was simple but had a delicious dressing covering it. If u like a small amount of dressing ask for it on the side. My meal of choice today was the panang with chicken. It was amazingly delicious!! The sauce was awesome!! I loved the subtle coconut milk flavor along with heat of the spices. Did I mention it was Delicious!! I topped it off with their homemade coconut ice cream. Another great choice. read more

One of Bakersfield's hidden gems. It was our first time at this restaurant and by far we liked it. We ordered 2 Thai teas, mine had boba in it. The Thai teas are always good but I wished they added more boba to my drink because I absolutely love that stuff. Here's what we ordered: 1) fried wontons - good for its price! They gave us a lot for just an appetizer and the dipping sauce they had was AMAZING 2) pad thai - our server told us we could make it spicy so we did and I love how the spice they used didn't overpower the flavor of the pad thai. 3) phat si io - we ordered it spicy as well and the spice didn't overpower the flavor. Noodles and broccoli were soft and tasty. Overall we enjoyed everything. Too bad we didn't have room to try the desert but we will for sure try it next time. Worth the buck! read more

I f*cking love this place. I drive from LA back to home in Visalia often, which inevitably means we pass through a bunch of nothing when it comes in the area of food, but this place is one of two spots I make regular stops at when I'm starving and want real food, not the crap fast food they serve through out the Grapevine. As far as thai food is concerned, I'm not a huge fan, but this place get's me every single time. They have EVERYTHING a family could want: beef, chicken, seafood, noodles, vegetables, tofu, vegan options. It's the perfect place for a modern family meal. Anyways, I'm all about the green curry with chicken, a bowl of rice, and glass noodles with tofu. BAM. Finished. See ya later Bakersfield! read more

Ordered the panang lunch special through phone and was told in 10 mins, it would be ready. I got to the restaurant in less than 10 mins and it was already ready for me to pick up! The older lady (didn't catch her name) was very nice. Now the fun part: Panang Curry which consisted of the curry itself, a small salad, and rice. The curry sauce was too runny for my liking, but it still tasted pretty good! The chicken was delicious as well as the bell peppers. They gave salad dressing which was also delicious. Panang Curry's are usually spicy, but this has no spice..I loved it since i can't handle spice too well. Overall, I would come back! read more
