Popped into this place last night while finishing up my errands. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they are open later than most of the restaurants in the same area. The restaurant is located on California and Stockdale in a nonchalant retail center and kind of tucked in the back. There is plenty of parking and it is safe as there are a ton of lights around. When I walked in the place was a little busy with a few families wrapping up their dinners. They have a few booths, one long community table in the middle of the restaurant and then they have a large booth that can probably accommodate 4 to 5 adult adults. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. And my server was kind enough to explain the level of spiciness for each curry and how they are prepared. There is a sign at the check-in encounter that states they do not use MSG in their restaurant... So I'm sure this is a major plus for people that are sensitive to MSG. I ordered the eggrolls from the appetizer menu, a Thai iced tea with Boba, and the chicken curry, which is a yellow, mild curry, and that came with a side of rice. The Thai iced tea was delicious. Unlike other places, I've had it. It was not too sweet, just sweet enough. The Boba was tender and chewy and was also sweetened so whoever made it knew what they were doing. The eggrolls came out and were served with a side of what I will call cucumber relish. The cucumber relish was delicious and so refreshing. It contained finally sliced cucumber, as well as minced red onion, and some sort of sauce, and a little bit of sweetness. It definitely complimented the egg rolls. The eggrolls are vegetarian egg rolls. They do contain glass noodles. While they were delicious and fresh, I found them to be a little bit bland. The vegetables inside the egg roll could use a little seasoning and they could have been cooked a little bit longer to get the vegetables to steam a little bit longer. While I like my vegetables firm, I definitely don't like them raw, especially inside an egg roll. The chicken curry was also very tasty. And while it is the milder of the curries, it had a little punch. That is OK by me because I like spicy things. The curry broth or sauce was very flavorful and creamy. The chicken was also delicious. It was diced or sliced white meat, it looks like they use chicken breast, and you could tell that it was seasoned and potentially boiled in a seasoned broth. So everything blended together and was flavorful. The chicken curry also had some potato... I personally would like more potato and maybe some carrots. The white rice was also good... It was pretty standard and customary however they could add a little bit more. While looking at the menu, I noticed that they had lunch specials and they were very good deals. I recommend this place either for lunch or for dinner... I am definitely going back to try some of the other dishes. My meal was so good. I ordered pineapple fried rice to go. And of course, I had to taste it when I got home. It was tasty but could use a little more seasoning. Since it's been overnight in my fridge already, I am hoping that the flavors had an opportunity to blend together and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for lunch later today. Enjoy! Ps. I posted a picture of one of my to-go containers... they are great quality and leak proof, which is a major plus when you have to take saucy food home.
My wife ordered the red curry and said it was delicious. I had the chicken curry, which was very flavorful and tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to coming back!
It doesn't look like much because it's in the strip, but it's actually really really good. Delicious Thai food. The shrimps are always delicious and Flesch and their nails are huge for the price that you pay. Really nice service family owned really enjoyed it lots of flavors and really enjoy the atmosphere of a small sitting area so on some busy nights it does get pretty crowded if you go in earlier or later, you're always bound to get a seat. They're also really good. It's a takeout place if you just take it home and relax.
Food is sooooo sooo sooo sooo good! I truly enjoyed the Red Curry with bamboo shoots. Extra Rice PLEASE !!! Service was good. I love family owned restaurants... it feels like you're visiting your favorite Asian auntie's house for some home cooked meals. Ambiance was chill, dimmed lighting, and quiet music ... you can hear the whispers and laughter from the surrounding tables. Definitely a great place to have family meals ...
I am incredibly biased when it comes to Singha Thai. I've been going here for years, their tom yum kai is my go to for whenever I have a cold. The place is entirely family run and everyone is very sweet. They have put a lot of time, money and hours into this place and it shows. The walls are wood paneled with these amazing large and colorful art pieces. If you come here in the evening, the entire place sort of glows gold, it's really pretty to be in. If you come around their lunch time though, you can take advantage of their lunch specials. Last time I was here with a friend, we got the drunken noodles and I got the panang curry lunch special. Their noodles fresh are so good. It is that one dish that hits the spot every time for me. As for their curries, I think I enjoy their red and yellow the most. The panang is good, but I like the others a bit better. It is a great go to if you are looking for a good starter dish to try. I love this place and will continue to go here!
Singha Thai is my Mom's favorite! I've been hearing about it for years so on my recent trip back home, we finally went for lunch! And let's just say, "I can see why she loves it!" For starters, they are affordably delicious and one of the only restaurant's nowadays that has a lunch special. $10 dollars can get you a soup or salad, your entree of choice and rice. My mom's go-to is the Singha Thai Special. It comes with fresh vegetables, your choice of protein and white rice. The sauce on it is very subtle and well-balanced. I'd say go for this dish when you are not looking for something very sweet or spicy! I decided to order the Thai Ginger. It's a great option if you really love ginger. I'll probably try the Singha Thai Special or another option, next time. We split an order of Fried Egg Rolls. They were crispy and crunchy! I really loved the sauce they came with to dip. It really paired nicely. They also put glass noodles in them... it was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is very simple with no-frills! I'd say it's a place to go with your family for a quick meal, as you'll sure to be greeted with a smile and prompt service. (:
I usually don't leave reviews but this was so good I just had to! The rice was seasoned great and has the perfect amount of spicy without being too hot. I took all my pics half way through so empty plates here (so not sorry it was that tasty). The sauce for the egg rolls and wontons make the appetizers that much better so don't skip and some Thai tea with boba to quench the spice! Go for lunch, the spot was not so busy so not much wait time and a calm scene to relax while you eat. Enjoy!
Took myself on a solo date, and was very glad I decided to choose a place I've never been. It was definitely a chilly night and needed something to warm up. I had the Tom yum soup, and it was great! Loved the fried wontons on top. Service was fast and very friendly, I'll gladly come back to try other options.
SUPERIOR SERVICE! If you're looking for a great meal on a night out, look no further. The pad thai, pineapple fried rice, and mango sticky rice are the best Thai food we've had in town. We love the Thai tea. The restaurant is family owned, with the same family providing excellent, attentive service for years. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, with a large table in the center for parties and groups. Check this place out, you will not be disappointed.
If you're looking for a cozy Thai food spot with great food let me put you on Singha Thai! The restaurant itself is very small and cozy. The sitting is comfortable and the staff is extremely kind. The menu has so many different options to look at including vegetarian options! We ordered the appetizers combo, yum yai salad, combination seafood soup, crab noodles, deep fried banana, and sticky rice with mango. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. The waitress first brought out our drinks and appetizers, then she came back with the rest of our food. I was very satisfied with the service. I'm definitely going to have to come back to try something new.
So this is the first Thai restaurant I have been to in Bakersfield. And I have been going there for 17 years. About time to write a review. They actually remodeled the place a few years ago, but it has an old school vibe. The same 3 ladies has been serving the food the last 17 years. If you come here, come prepared for the heat. They have the hottest dish in town, the dragon fire with habanero. Today, we had the green papaya salad and satay chicken appetizer, both are perfectly delicious. The main course we had shrimp and squid basil which was my favorite, and my wife loved the ginger beef. Both dishes were extremely well seasoned, with plenty of kick.

Really good customer service and ambiance. We came with an unruly toddler but the staff and other customers were really nice about it. I felt embarrassed anyways, The food is PHENOMENAL, even my son loved it. We will be back. The lunch specials are the bomb diggity read more

More of a 2.5 but rounding up because this place a small family owned business and their food can be good, just not consistent. On my last visit I ordered the Pad Thai and opted for the lunch special, which I'm glad I did because it was mostly inedible. The noodles were absolutely stuck together and seemed old and stale. Maybe I got yesterday's batch of leftovers? Tasted more like the day before. The portion size was pretty small but I didn't care because I threw it away anyway. A couple weeks later here I was, wanting Thai, and wanting to give them another try - I ordered again. This time I went with the chicken curry. Pictures online looked great and remembering my experience with my tiny tub of Pad Thai I opted for the regular entree size. I don't know if this is their entree size but it's pretty sad. Couple that with 4 grossly underdone potato pieces and I'm over it. I know Covid is hitting everyone hard but I can't say I'll be back. The quality of Singha has gone down so much. read more

The food was amazing! I wanted noodles because everyone knows hot noodles during rainy cold weather just hits different. I ended up picking this place which I've never been but it was close to work. I ordered online and picked up my order. The service was great and friendly ! The ambiance is chill, quiet, and more private. I honestly love places like this. It was pretty packed which obviously means the food is amazing! I tried chicken pad see ew noodles with broccoli! Highly recommend. I will definitely be back for shrimp and the rice which sounded delicious but it's too much food for one. read more

So glad I decided to stop by here. I got the thai iced coffee with boba and it was delicious. The texture of the boba was a little off but I enjoyed the coffee because it was sweet and not strong. I also ordered the pad thai noodles and they had a great flavor. The noodles had a sweet and sour taste but the server told me you can customize it to add spice. My husband ordered the red curry and he thought it was spicy but still good. I'd definitely come back! read more

I ordered online and upon arrival I was the only customer waiting. I could see my order, but was blocked by tables. So I waited and waited. Finally someone noticed I was there. I had the panang chicken, and I can say that it was just okay. There were maybe four bell pepper slices. The rice served with it was in the tiniest box, I definitely should have asked for more rice! read more
Taste straight from Thailand! I definitely enjoyed my food here because their flavors are so on point! Their papaya salad is the best papaya salad here in town and the spiciness is just perfectly balanced but if you are scared with chili try not ask only a bit because the mild got that good spiciness. Their pad thai has always been the best, very savory sauce while the Kai Pow Gai/ Kai Dao is awesome and very tasteful and so good with the rice top over with the fried egg but soft yolk! Staff works in cohesion, never skipping a beat. There's always somebody if you need something. Very friendly, comfy environment. I don't know why but but despite clearly being in a restaurant, feels like you're at someone's house as a guest because of the homemade taste of the food and the hospitality of the hosting. That's my reasoning, trying to figure out why, anyway. Start off with the appetizer combo. It is actually quite a bit for just two people, let alone one person. Tom Yum Kai is a tasty, light filler as long as you go small bowl. Spicy Noodles is a more universally doable heat level and very tasty. Singha Spicy is really good and my favorite, but that heat creeps up on you. I'll admit I had a small cough for a minute before I acclimated. I was like, "ah, this isn't spi--*cough!*" Haha! It's not insane hot, just snuck up on me. I swear! ;) The trick is to not treat the heat like it's broth. It's not. It's seasoning. Combo it with your rice or separate on to a dish. Really good choice that I recommend. Gotta try this place, and not just if you like Thai. read more

I have to take a star off. The Pad Thai at a Thai place HAS to be good and it just is not. Gave them another shot a year later as I actually know people that don't mind this place. Some like it. I prefer my Thai to have more flavor - brightness, tangy-ness, spiciness. It had none of that and my dish was ordered extra spicy. Request was ignored this time. The noodles are dry, overcooked. No hint of a sauce! The shrimp were also overcooked and freezer burned. The dish does not even come with lime. Had 3 bites and gave up. It could have great potential if the business would just read the reviews and learn from what people are wanting! The blandness is a theme. Service to-go was fine and the dish does have a decent presentation. Going to give it one more shot and next time try a different dish. Maybe pineapple fried rice? read more

This place is great. Friendly service, family atmosphere, and the most consistent Thai food in town. These dishes are just as good as they were 20yrs ago. My faves are the Tom kha kai hot pot soup, pineapple fried rice, and the duck curry to nam a few. Oh and I love that their beer is served with frozen mugs!!! read more

A really pleasant dining experience ... the food was delicious, and the service (what earned Singha Thai the fifth star) very warm and attentive, even though I was one of those annoying customers that rushed in right before closing. Great menu. A lot to select from. I loved that you could order a single serving bowl of soup (some restaurants only serve the large / hot pot size), and I ordered my favorite tom kha gai - I probably spelled that wrong - it's the coconut spicy soup with chicken, mushrooms, cilantro, lemon grass. Delicious and rivaled the fancy / over priced thai restaurants in LA. I also got the green curry (I LOVE GREEN CURRY), and a side of steamed veggies. Thai curries, like indian curries are very, very saucy. I can make any curry dish last for at least two meals by adding steamed veggies. I would have gotten rice if I wasn't going to get my spicy noodles. My favorite dish was the spicy noodles - thick, flat, rice noodles. They are muy S-P-I-C-Y!! I love spicy foods and order spicy dishes routinely, but even this was a two glass of water spicy. Did I mention, the noodles are spicy? Despite the heat factor, they were just delicious, and as I said, my favorite part of the meal. Not a fancy place by any means - but very comfortable. It appeared to be a family owned restaurant which added to it's warmth. Well worth a visit. This is my first visit to a Thai restaurant here so I have no comparison, but I can see why others find this the best Thai food in Bako. read more

Ordered through uber eats and this food is very flavorful. The crab fried rice is full of the best of thailand flavors and add some of the shrimp panang curry it boast full of flavors. The pad see ew is also I can say one of the best in Bakersfield. Thank you Singha Thai we will order again here soon! read more
