In March, 2026 i had Dr Da Guzman remove my Cataracts. I Had nothing but praise for him. On my Last Appointment I Complained about my eyes hurting. I felt he just Ta-Taed what I told him. He said" Next Week they will feel better " and gave me 5 days of eye drops.WRONG AGAIN!! Everyday was Horrible . I spoke to a lady about the Discomfort, she called back and told me the doctor ordered Restasis.. She said I'll feel better in 3-4 Day. Wrong Again. With the Discount Card it would cost $91a Month for 3-6 Months. I wonder if the doctor gets Kick Backs from Big Pharmo. My neighbor gave me the Eye Doctor in Elgin. I called on a Wednesday morning and saw my New doctor Thursday @ 9am. She spent a Good Hour with me. After she dilated my eyes, she finds out,, I had an infection. UNBELIEVABLE!! I got some antibiotics and my eyes started to feel better the Next Day. I Would Not recommend this Doctor. read more

I had an eye injury caused by my dog scratching my cornea. I went to an urgent care who referred me to an ophthalmologist who could not book me for 3 months. The next day, I went to the ER trying to get some relief from pain. I was referred to Dr. Guzman who was able to get me in the next day and was able to help. I was so grateful for the relief. On day 3 of the consecutive office visits, the doctor saw that I had an unused insurance benefit for new glasses and insisted that they could test me for that. I asked if that was a good idea to do it now since my vision was still blurred and didn't the eye need time to heal. Doctor insisted it would be fine. The jerk that did my eye test kept insisting that I decide whether slide A or Slide B was a better view. I honestly couldn't tell because everything was blurry. After again telling the tech I couldn't see, he was just downright rude. Then as soon as the test was over, the doctor tells me that I don't have to order glasses from them but the person that handles the glasses was already in the exam room ready to lead me to the display area. No surprise that my ordered glasses were useless. I had to get retested and they charged my insurance company again for an eye exam that shouldn't have been done in the first place. I am so disappointed with the subsequent terrible service because I was initially happy that the doctor was willing to see me on short notice. Maybe that should have been my first clue. read more

I was referred here from a friend, Thank you Donnie. I saw Dr. Cohen on Tuesday for possible GCA. Wednesday morning he saw my blood work, called me immediately and I was in for arterial biopsys Wednesday afternoon. The communication has been outstanding. They have worked so quickly to help me I'm amazed. It's very rare for a Doctor be on top of the situation that quickly. I highly recommend them and highly recommend Dr. Cohen. read more

I would rate Simpson Eye Associates a '0' Star review if I could. I went round and round with Candy Busch regarding a Tricare billing issue and the way Simpson Eye Associates electronically submitted a routine eye exam bill to Tricare. Bottom Line: I went in for a routine eye exam and my insurance was charged for a Specialty Exam. When I brought it to Candy Busch's attention, she just kept resubmitting the same claim with no changes over to Tricare and Tricare kept denying it stating it was coded as a Specialty Exam. But rest assured, it was no Specialty Exam because there is nothing wrong with my eyes, except an astigmatism, which is common in 1 in 3 Americans. So, I ended up having to pay $150.00 out of pocket for a routine eye exam that should have been entirely covered by insurance. The non-chalet response and lack of customer service is what warrants this review. The only reason I even went to this location is because they were a local business to the area. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and will definitely be relaying this experience to anyone I know in the community that asks for an honest review. read more

After waiting a month for an exam they told me when I arrived the doctor wasn't there. What were the other people doing there? Were they seeing the receptionist? How many doctors are in the office? They said they called to notify me and that I didn't answer. The call was put in with no caller ID, I don't answer them unless they have an ID. I will drive an hour away not to use them. read more

I contacted the West Dundee location after being seen by an Immediate Care facility. The ophthamologist that was given as a referral by the IC was no longer in practice and I was in dire need of being seen by a specialist as my vision deteriorated from the time seen at the IC. I explained all of this to the receptionist and requested to be seen. I was told that a) I was not a patient b) The doctors only treat scheduled patients. There was no concern/empathy for my situation. Absolutely NO effort was made to address the situation. This is despicable healthcare! This business and the doctors associated with this business are being reported to the American Board of Ophthamology for failure to offer treatment. read more

Stay AWAY! I had photo-coagulation done on my eye at this office by Dr. Becker. the surgery did not fix my problem and was still experiencing issues that could lead to blindness for months after, I went back to see the doctor several times and he assured me that everything looked good and there were no problems. about a week after seeing the doctor for the last time I woke up with a 50% vision loss. when I called the office and explained that I had a detached retina they said that Dr. Becker wasn't in but there was another doctor I could see "immediately". after wasting most of my morning in a waiting room the doctor explained that She wasn't a retina specialist and that I needed to see another doctor in another facility several miles away. by the time I got to that office I had to wait till the next day to have emergency surgery. I wasted an entire day with them while I was at risk of going totally blind. After all that they still want me to pay for the visit where they had me see a doctor who literally could do nothing for me and INCREASED my risk of going blink. DO NOT trust this office with your precious vision. they seem to be more worried about bills than their patients. read more

I saw Kenneth Melchionna. He Would not allow me to speak or explain anything, did not test my near vision, put me on six different eye drops at once, didn't want to deal with reading my medical history, was rude to my doctor, and lied to me about what my doctor told him. He gave me a completely wrong prescription. My current prescription is -11.50 and -9.50 with +2.50 for both eyes. He tried prescribing me -1.00 and -3.00 so I can walk around blind. He didn't care to listen to me or about my health. He spoke over me and just went ahead without me being able to get a word in. read more

I feel that you should do your homework before you decide to have any services done here. Our experience with the Doctor has been positive. However the scheduling that is done needs improvement. Not sure if management really understands the word appointment means. If a patient is scheduled to have their eyes dilated, scheduling should be done in a matter where you check in and have the assistant get started with the dilation, have you go back in waiting area. Then see the doctor and have procedure completed. We sat over an hour , before anything was even started. I'm sure they have heard many complaints on the scheduling, but just really seem to care about their patients input. read more
