Nothing special about this place. It is clean and service was decent. I made of mistake of not noticing the fact they did not serve beer. I'm sorry, but nothing cools the palate during Thai food like a cold beer. Anyway, I stayed and had the pork with basil and chili peppers (#24). I asked for extra Thai spicy. It was well spiced. It was very tasty but a little too salty. Price was decent, serving size was pretty large but I managed to stuff it all down. I would definitely give another star if they served beer. read more

This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant if you are looking for good tasting food. It's not the typical sit down and wait to be waited on restaurant, you must walk up to the register and order, then find a seat and wait for your food to be brought out to your table. It's a hole in the wall and I think it's best that not everyone knows about this place, cause I want to eat there and I don't want to wait for to long for my food to be served. The spice levels are broad, you can actually have spicy food here. You can also just add heat after you taste it, if you like more control. This place is a hidden gem, but I admit it's way more popular now then when I first started eating there six years ago. I go there so often that they even know what I want before I even say anything. I ve been here and embarrassing number of times since I moved to the area, which is saying something since I LOVE Thai food and lived in Thailand for a period of time! The curry at Simply Thai is to die for. I especially love the red curry. I've tried the red curry all over the world and I always come back to Simply Thai. I can't comment on everything else on the menu, as I stick to the curries. The service can be a bit slow at times, especially during the lunch special, but it's worth the wait. The Mango and rice dessert is amazing too. One of the best parts is the owners. They take special care in their food and are very concerned with their customers. Their daughters are often the waitresses and the owners will often be seen wandering the dining room talking with customers and making sure everyone is happy. read more

We go out for (and cook our own) Thai food frequently. This was *by far* the best Thai we've had in Utah. We had: Pad Gra Tiem Pik Thai with beef. The quantity was substantial and the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked. Gang Keow Wan (Green Curry) Again the quantity was substantial. We asked for this dish to be extra spicy. They kindly included a large amount of dried pepper flakes that we could add to the dish - rather than guessing what we meant by spicy. We really appreciated this! The flavor of this curry is phenomenal. (We tried it with and without the extra spicy peppers.) We loved the *fresh* Thai basil. The restaurant is in a strip mall and it's small. It was very busy at 6:30 on the Saturday night we went. The tables are very close together, but it didn't really bother us. The waitress was absolutely delightful and attentive. And the owner stopped by our table a couple times - she's really lovely. We had a nice chat. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. It was a fantastic experience. Not the best Thai food I've had in recent memory. I much prefer Mekong cafe over on state st and 8700 S. The restaurant is clean and the staff is nice. Our food came out quick. The portion was huge and when we told them our dish was missing carrots they promptly brought some out and they were delicious. Simply Thai is kind of average, but if you want some "home cooked" style cooking that's not done over the top, it's a good place. read more

We ordered the Pad Siew (#12) with Pork and the Red Curry (#31) with beef. My wife liked the red curry well enough; I thought it was definitely above average. We both loved the Pad Siew. All dishes are mild unless you request otherwise. The hot chilies on the menu aren't true. The atmosphere is relatively nice and the waitress was great--helpful, nice, and not too bothersome. We had a reservation on a Friday but it wasn't necessary. They did give us a great spot in the restaurant away from the crowd and at a table with nice flowers so maybe a reservation gets you a good spot. They have art on the walls and it's decently well decorated. They play classical music in the background. We would come back! read more

Went for lunch this time and I loved the menu. $7.99 gets you 2 lunch serving sizes of their entrees and a side of sticky rice, won tons, and dipping sauce. There were probably 20 different entrees to choose from. It was nice because it offered variety and was the perfect lunch sized portion. Authentic Thai food, regular decorations, more of a casual weekdays lunch / dinner, surprisingly BIG portions, and very friendly price (charge just the same as a regular Asian restaurant, dinner on average $15-$20 per person) First time me and my husband went, we ordered red curry, pad Thai, and BBQ pork. Ended up bring most of the dishes home because we didn't expect the portions to be that big! This place used to be one of my favorites, but it has gone far downhill since Covid hit. You order from the front, drinks are served in cans, without refills, and the food is the worst Thai I've ever had. I ordered massaman curry with chicken, and the chicken was in gargantuan chucks. Huge, 4 square inch chunks. Dry chicken. I had bbq pork, and that was terribly dry. Very disappointing. I used to visit regularly in 2018 and 2019, and this place was always delicious. They obviously have different staff now. From the back to the front, this restaurant is far below what it used to be. So disappointing. read more

Pad thai was good, but it didn't stand out to me. I like to see some scrambled eggs and ample cilantro. But that's just personal preference. I am a very big fan of thai food, especially yellow curry and pad thai. Seeing that this place had 4 stars, I decided to check it out. I chose to get the yellow curry as I was craving some curry, and decided to take it to go. When I picked up the curry, the portion size was extremely generous, knowing that it would at least be enough for two meals. When I opened the container for the curry, I was a bit disappointed in the color of the sauce because I am used to seeing a more vibrant mustard yellow color. However, once I tried the curry, I was pleasantly surprised. Next time, I will come to try the pad thai and see if that lives up to my expectations. read more

I went here for lunch during a week day. The place was packed. (Good sign.) I ordered a lunch special and didn't realize you get to choose two curries. That was a nice surprise. I ordered a yellow and red curry. Both were great. The portion sizes were "healthy" sizes (meaning that they are probably less than you get other places, but probably all one should actually be eating for a lunch) I liked the flavors. This is the best Thai place I've found in the Sandy area. We've been to a lot of other Thai restaurants and this is the one I'm consistently going back to, whether for dine-in or take-out. The food is fantastic! Beef Massaman is my favorite dish here, with its big tender chunks of beef instead of the thin-sliced chewy stuff other places use. The Pad Thai is great too. Yellow chicken curry is also fantastic, very rich with just enough spice to it. The restaurant is nicely kept with friendly service, though it seemed understaffed when we were there on a Friday night. Terrible service. We walked in and there was no signage to say whether or not to seat your selves. We sat down and then were rudely told to get up and go to the front to order and had the menus thrown across the counter to order. We had dinner here when we drove passed by SLC, because of the good Yelp review. However, both the food and the service were only mediocre. Granted, it's a busy Valentines Day dinner night but the wait wasn't very long (about 15 mins). Both the curry and the pad sew were too sweet and not spicy enough. Usually I would have a choice of 1-5 stars of spiciness but its not made available to us. Service: although the owner was nice, I felt that the waitress who served us was a bit rude--like I owe her a million dollars. Don't think I'll come back again if I have other choices. read more

VEGETARIANS USE CAUTION!! Staff is super nice and always has been, service is fast !! My family and used to frequent this people especially during lunch. We loved it.. but something has changed drastically the last handful of times. Over cooked potatoes, bland curry, rice mushy.... but I still looked passed it since it's close to my work and better than fast food until the last order I got a few days ago with 4 giant pieces of chicken in my tofu yellow curry. Just before Covid lockdowns I ordered takeout and was given the wrong meal. It was packaged the same as my standard go-to so I didn't notice until I got home. (A 30 min drive.) When I called to report the mistake and ask for a replacement the manager was defensive but reluctantly (at least it seemed) agreed to replace the meal. After restaurants opened after lockdowns, I tried to redeem the meal but was told they didn't have my name on a list - so they refused to make it right. The food is not good quality the chicken is extremely dry because they most likely cook it with hot water (not boiling) given the fact that i've bit into raw meat before. i don't know how that is safe to eat. i've eaten here many times throughout the years and i always get food poising after eating. inflation does not make food of this quality that expensive, i've factored in many various possibilities and there is no reason the food should be priced this expensive. the price has changed recently from expensive to unaffordable. this type of business practice is unsustainable and borderline highway robbery. i've dined in at the restaurant many times and i've witnessed the owner being very rude and actually disrespectful to the two employees that run the entire dinning room. i feel really bad for the workers here because of how she treats them and also because the food is so expensive which disincentives you from leaving a tip. This is a very slimy business practice. i overheard the owner chastising her employee about a mistake and deducted it from their pay which was honestly very sad to witness. this owner is not a good person i feel so bad for supporting this type of business for this long. inside the restaurant there are so many flies and the smell of rotting fish, which motivated me to order take out most of the time. the bathrooms smell like rotting sewage i can not stand to be in the restaurant. there is always an old man there taking up a seat in the lobby watching fox new on full volume. the lack of professionalism is incomprehensible. I've spent hundreds of dollars on this vile excuse of food This is probably the worst restaurant i've ever been to, i have reported them to the health department for everything listed above. read more

I'm writing this review for my brother-in-law who came home after dining in and was extremely upset with the service he received here. He doesn't have Yelp but would like others to know about his experience. He understands that because of COVID there will be restrictions and guidelines to follow. He wants to start by saying the food was good and portions were huge but you have to order and pay AND tip as soon as you walk in and they watch you as you stand there trying to decide on what to eat. There was plenty of room at the restaurant but they placed everyone in the same area, there was no social distancing. They hand you a water bottle with no cups. I understand the restaurant closes at 9 but around 8:30 they came by to box up our food as we were still eating. They also started vacuuming while we were still eating. Our waitress began to clear off our table rather aggressively and began to spray cleaner on the table next to us. At that point we stopped eating and put on our masks because of the harsh chemicals and smell. We would not return for a dine-in experience. read more

It is packed with flavor and is the right level of spice. They also make a mean mango sticky rice. it does get pretty crowded during lunch hour so I would plan on either going a bit early or be prepared to wait.
