Absolutely amazing experience at Red Basil Thai! We were the only ones there, which made the whole night feel super intimate and relaxed. The inside is beautiful--dim lighting with glowing blue lights hanging overhead, tropical greenery, and a really cool, almost magical vibe. It honestly felt like stepping into another world. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, and it was incredible--rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The chicken was tender and soaked up all that flavor. For dessert, I had the coconut ice cream with sticky rice, and it was the perfect sweet finish--simple, warm, and so satisfying. Between the atmosphere and the food, this place is such a hidden gem. I was staying at a nearby hotel and ordered delivery from Red Basil Thai. After reading the reviews, I went with the Pad Kee Mao and mango sticky rice and both were so good I was still talking about them the next day. The Pad Kee Mao was excellent. The noodles were flavorful, the sauce was perfectly balanced, and there were plenty of vegetables. The tofu was cooked really well, which is not always the case with delivery. Overall, a homerun. The mango sticky rice was the highlight. Slightly warm sticky rice with coconut and perfectly sweet ripe mango. Just delicious. I'll give them a solid for food, average for service and ambiance, but my biggest complaint is that their portion size is so small for the price. Yes, I did order the regular size, as they do have a half size option. Most Thai restaurants leave you with plenty to savor for lunch the next day, so don't expect that. I'm pretty surprised by the negative reviews showing up on the right. We had a GREAT experience. We went mostly for the ambiance. We knew our toddler would love the glow and general decor, and we were right. He loved the projection on the wall next to us, and the stars on the ceiling. I'll just say that up front because in my mom era, it counts for a lot when my toddler is enthralled and excited about a restaurant. It makes my life easier. But the food and service were both great too! I got the tom kha which was brought hot pot style to the table. It was really delicious and flavorful. Although I was finishing up Whole 30, I still ordered the Massaman curry (peanuts aren't allowed) and loved it. My husband ordered the Lad Naa, and I had a bite of the chicken. It was really tasty. My toddler loves Thai food too and loved everything we offered him. Our server was a lot better than we've had at other Thai establishments. She was friendly and quick. And I know the photos on Google have already told you, but the bathrooms are incredible. My son is obsessed with all things ocean and shells and crabs right now, so he just wanted to hang out in the bathrooms. Even if you don't need to go while you're there, stop in the bathrooms. The worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. They do not care about food allergies at all, and served me food that I am allergic to after claiming they would check with the chef whether or not it contained shellfish. It also took flagging down servers to get the order in, checks, etc. I would not recommend this spot. read more

A friend and I decided to try a new Thai restaurant and saw this spot had good reviews! I can happily say - it didn't disappoint and I feel like it's moved to the top of my favourite Thai restaurants in Utah! The restaurant itself is relatively small, but we managed to get a table on a Saturday night with no wait time at all. The interior is cute and has some fun decorations. Our server was friendly and attentive and checked on us numerous times to make sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the satay chicken skewers as an appetiser and then the pad see ew and yellow pineapple curry for entrees. We then split a mango sticky rice for dessert. Overpriced, smaller portions, and difficult to order takeout. The service has gone straight down the toilet. It's a shame because this used to be such a great place to eat. I called to order pick up. Was told at 8:30pm with a closing time of 9pm that they wouldn't take my order for pick up. I told them I can be there in 5 minutes. The individual had to speak to the management who said I had 15 minutes to get there. Spent 10 minutes on the phone just trying to get my order placed and could've already been there ready to pick up. Once I got there I got attitude at the counter, too. Shouldn't have children running your business who think closing time means that's when they leave the restaurant. The inside decor is now some ridiculous jungle themed mess that feels small and cramped. Completely unnecessary. I would wager that the fake plants and lights hanging all over the place aren't cleaned and those dust bunnies are going straight in to your food. I no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone. Small trendy place offering good Thai food. First off, the food was made on the spot so didn't come out real fast. That's okay with me. Decor is great, and they have glowing menus! I loved that because it was kind of dark inside. I came twice, once with my adult son, and once with a group. The Thai food was good, but not amazing. Each of us could think of some other Thai place with slightly better, slightly cheaper food. I mean, I liked it, but it didn't knock my socks off. When I went looking for the bathroom, I found this sign. No idea if that was "boys" or "girls". I poked around and found a sign that read "Thai Mermaids" so reasoned it was for the womenfolk, so the "Siren Hunters" must be for men. I found it amusing rather than annoying, so count it as a plus. We recently had dinner at Red Basil in West Jordan, Utah. I ordered a full-size dinner and was served in a reasonable amount of time, but after one bite, I didn't care for the dish at all. So, I flagged the server down and explained the situation, and she took my plate of food and brought me instead a smaller portion of a different menu item that I thought would work out better for my taste buds. I didn't care for that dish either, but by then I figured that Red Basil probably wasn't the best dining option for me at the time. When I went up front to pay for my meal, I was surprised to see that I was charged for both dishes that together totaled $40. I was told that I had to pay for both meals, even though they took the first plate from me after eating one bite. There were others in our dining party who would have taken the food home with them, and I asked to speak to someone about the bill, but they firmly declined to discuss it. Today I called to speak to a manager to talk more about my experience at Red Basil, but the person who answered the phone said they didn't have a manager. Then I asked who I could speak with who was in charge, and she said those people were on vacation. I asked if there was anyone I could speak with about my concerns, and she said there wasn't anyone in charge. All in all, I'll probably steer clear of the Red Basil. read more

My wife and I tried Red Basil for a random Saturday date night. The atmosphere was lovely and they have a fun immersive beach theme they clearly put a lot of effort into! We ordered the cream cheese wantons, potstickers, and the pork street kabob skewers. The pork was the star of all the appetizers but none of them disappointed We split their signature Pad Thai and got chicken and added tofu. Their red basil sauce is no joke, it makes it too easy to inhale this thing gone. Their spice level goes from 1-5, I ordered a 4 and thought it was perfect. I've been burned in the past by other establishments just dumping excess red pepper flakes on top, here they do a heat scale empirical justice! We finally ended on a mango sticky rice that was delicious as well. Overall we loved our meal here and over all dining experience and can't wait to show our foodie friends this great local spot! We went here for my birthday dinner and this place doesn't disappoint you for a special occasion. We ordered pad Thai, crab fried rice, Thai fried rice , spicy fried rice, chicken satay and mango sticky rice. Pad Thai was little sweet to my taste but the fried rice was beyond my expectations. Service was really quick and the waiter was really attentive. Ambiance is forest themed and is refreshing. I have gotten take out or Uber delivery from this restaurant many times, and today is my last. Super disappointed. First of all it was delivered to the wrong house. I had to literally chase the Uber delivery person down. Not your fault. Green curry did not have any flavor at all. And for the amount of money I'm paying for this, you could at least fill the whole container up. Spring rolls basically just tasted like lettuce. And I am really unsure why you can't fill the cup up with the sauces. It's like you put a tablespoon in each. For the size of the rolls, please at least fill the cups up. The food is fantastic and I have tried all of their curries. I can handle a lot of spice and the scale works out well, if you can't handle spice, just get a level 0 and you'll be fine. My wife and I have been there a dozen times and the service is incredibly fast (if they weren't before, they are now). I had a lunch meeting with some coworkers today and we decided to eat here. We know it gets packed, so we arrived right at 11:00 and were the first customers. We were immediately seated and our drinks were brought out super fast. Sine we were the only ones, we didn't have to wait to order. I had the yellow curry with chicken and medium spice. I absolutely loved it! Any spicier and it would have been too much for me though. Medium spice with a bit of rice is the perfect combination! The lady working here was very attentive to our needs. She filled my water 3 times before I left (which I greatly appreciated). Even though we were done eating, I did t feel like we were pressured at all to hurry and leave. It was a great atmosphere. This isn't a huge thing, but I love the tables! They look like the beach and ocean! It's totally my type of thing. Once we were done, we went up to the register to pay. They have a small bowl with delicious little candies inside. I grabbed and Apple one and it was so good! All in all, the atmosphere and food were fantastic. "I feel like a mermaid" was my daughter's remark when she came back from the bathroom so of course I had to check it out. Am I at the beach or the bathroom? Such a cool concept and it complimented the tropical scenery of the restaurant. We had the green curry, the sauce was delicious though I wish they had incorporated more vegetables like baby corn and perhaps carrots. We also ordered Pad Thai and honestly it wasn't my favorite, I've had better. The service is quick and our cute young server was on the ball with drinks, etc. We will definitely be back for more curry and I would definitely recommend this place even if you go in for the decoration. However, and this is why they get a 4, they've been adding nonstop decor for a few years and frankly it's now feeling claustrophobic. Best stir fry noodles in Slc. I love the wide noodles they are so good. The Kua Kai is something I rarely find at Thai places and it is delicious here. Pad Thai is great too. Unfortunately the quality of service brought their Yelp rating low. The food was fine, nothing special, but the way I was treated was extremely curt and gave me feelings of "I don't really care about you". So yeah, won't be coming back. I placed a call in order and the woman told me it would be a 40 min wait, which is fine, I can hang tight. But when I got there, my order was wrong and when I attempted to tell her what I tried/thought I ordered over the phone she simply stared at me blankly and gave me what SHE thought was correct. I honestly was just too hungry and tired and didn't want to fight with her so I took the food and got out. I don't know, I have worked in the restaurant business for years and have been taught to just slap a smile on your face and bend over backwards to make the customer happy--most people aren't crazy or have insane demands, but I do find that just putting in a little extra effort goes a long way. Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Massaman were good, I can find very similar dishes at other surrounding restaurants and have been treated better too. So meh, sorry Red Basil.
