I went here based off the reviews and ordered to go. I travel quite a bit on business and obviously end up eating most meals in restaurants. What planet do you other patrons who submitted reviews here live on? I walked in and they had Italian music playing....which actually made.m laugh so maybe that's a good thing. I asked the person working at the cash register where you order to go about the salads. he replied with "no one really orders salads" - ok, I guess you should remove the 5 sales listed from the menu then. I picked the green curry with chicken and brought it back to my hotel. The rice was fine. The actual curry dish had a decent taste to it. But the rest of the ingredients was very disappointing. it consisted of mainly bamboo shoots and about 3 ounces of chicken, a few slices of pepper. very disappointing. I asked for utensils which they gave me but when I got to hotel I found them to be extremely cheap quality. I ended up getting other utensils and plates from my hotel. it is pretty clear they are trimming corners wherever possible for increased profitably. read more

This is the first review I've put online. My husband and I got the tom kah, yellow curry, and pad kee mao. The staff were great and attentive despite the fact they were short staffed. But everything else was awful. The soup was fine. All the food was lukewarm. We checked reviews while waiting for our food and they are accurate. Both the curry and noodles we got were stangely sweet and had no spiciness at all. Curry isn't always spicy but the drunken noodle dish we got is my favorite Thai noodle dish and it's isn't like anything I've had anywhere else. We told our server that we'd like to pay for the soup and tip, but that we wanted a refund on the curry and noodles. Everything aside, our experience wasn't awful, until we were leaving. On our way out, the owner/manager stopped us for no reason. She went and got a stack of the tickets from the orders today to show us how (apparently) insanely busy they had been. She also told us about her loyal customers that she had plenty of, that she is from Bangkok, Thailand, etc. We told her that's great, but that we still didn't like the food. She talked and bragged about her many loyal customers for about 5 minutes and tried to give us store credit instead of a refund. It was extremely unprofessional especially for a restaurant owner/manager. I can see why she moved from Thailand, no one with any experience with Thai food would want to eat her cooking. It took everything in me to not find my inner Karen, but ultimately we just wanted to get out and eat somewhere with better customer service like McDonald's. read more

I will rate the food first. Excellent. The 2 things that dragged down my review are the lack of personality and friendliness of the staff and the comfort of their booth seats. Our seat was ripped badly and we sat on hard springs the entire meal. Very uncomfortable. Time to retire those seats please. We had to order and pay in advance. Understandable with the circumstances, but we feel this was an excuse to stop trying to please the customer. We left a generous tip before we even sat down, and if it was based on service, it wouldn't be warranted! Appies came out after the meal, which came out in 2 shifts too. Ordered the regular pad Thai with chicken for $11. Got to go so I could take it back to the office and it came in a Styrofoam box and wrapped in foil. It was still hot by the time I got back to work which was great. Overall I thought the flavor was pretty good, not too sweet and definitely not spicy. The location is a little hard to get in and out of depending on which direction you are going due to construction and lane barriers. So, my mom's birthday warranted going to dinner at the restaurant of her choice. Lately, she's been on a Thai kick (not sure how that started) and this place was smack-dab next door to where we were getting (at her request) pedicures. We did not have a reservation, but we saw that we didn't need one-and were seated right away. We sat in a booth in the corner and I was immediately regretting not bringing my own chair. The bench's cushion was completely deteriorated and I was bouncing on just a spring. It took a while to get situated to not notice it as much. I'm not familiar enough with Thai food to know what to order, but each item had a pretty good description of the ingredients. Pictures would have been really nice for the uneducated diner such as myself, but I attempted to find something based on the written description. I ended up getting the Laab, but I preferred the beef my wife ordered and the chicken curry my mom had. Since they are both nice to me, they were willing to split everything and we all tried a little of everything. Service was friendly although it took a while to get our drinks refilled. Was in UT for work and the weather was 30 degrees so I looked on Yelp for a Thai place near my hotel. When I walked in, the owner saw me and kept on rudely bossing around her waitstaff. I finally walked up to her and said hi I need a table. She sat me but didn't give me a menu. So I sat there for 3 minutes and then I waved down a waitress and got a menu. I ordered Tom Yum soup and a noodle dish called Guay Teaw Pad Kee Mao (try to say that 10 times). The soup was not sour and it had red/green bell peppers and white onions thus making the soup sweet. The noodle dish was soaked in a dark brown salty sauce. I picked out the tofu and tomatoes because everything else in the noodle dish tasted like pure salt. The for dessert I got the mango with sticky rice. Usually when I get this desert, it would be drizzled with sweet coconut milk. This place drizzled the dish with coconut syrup. Coconut syrup is for my latte not for a Thai dessert. Two stars are only for the waitstaff, I commend them for putting up with the owner. read more

My husband has been a huge fan of this restaurant for many years, and it was the first place I ever tried Thai food. While this place did make me realize I am a huge lover of Thai food and that I can handle the spice!, I am sad to report that the last time we were in the area and stopped by, the food was only OK; the spice wasn't all there like usual and the chicken was very dry, and the service was also only OK. Mixed feelings on this place. I have came here a few times and most of the food is good. But the pad Thai is more like a sweet and sour dish. Does not taste like pad Thai at all. Food wasn't too bad. We ordered 2 different combinations from the lunch special menu. The pad gra pow tofu was slightly crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. It was decently seasoned. The pad gra pow was a little salty. The added bell peppers gave it a nice flavor. The gang ka-ree (yellow) curry was decent. We were a little surprised the curry came out more of a dull color rather than a bright yellow compared to most Thai places we've been to. The Tom yum gai was a little off. Didn't taste completely authentic. We felt like there were too many tomatoes and the tomato flavor definitely overpowered the soup. We also ordered papaya salad which was okay. A major gripe was that this thai restaurant, like a few others, does not make the food spicy enough. We ordered our dishes to be extra spicy and it was basically mild without a trace of peppers anywhere. Last but not least, the service was horrible. We had to wait awhile before we got waters, the waitress never came back with extra plates that we asked for, our 2 main entrees came 15 minutes apart, and we were sitting with empty glasses almost the entire time. By the time we did get a refill, our meal was finished and we had been sitting on our phones for 5 minutes waiting to get the check. Typical modern restaurant phone experience: "How late are you open?". Response: "We close at 9pm...but we stop taking orders at 8:30pm, and we turn off Grubhub, UberEats and DoorDash around 8:15pm". Lol, do you even want business? Maybe I'm old at 30, but if you're open till 9 then you take orders till 9. Otherwise just tell people you close at 8 to avoid the confusion and frustration. And even though I didn't bring any of that up over the phone, all I said was "Thanks" and then you reply with "Dope" and slam the phone, well then you can Fukright off. This place was extremely disappointing. I was expecting it to be really good given it's 4 star average. We got take out and were told it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. It ended up taking 30, and they were not even busy when I got there. When they brought my good to bag it up, it had dripped all over and got on my other containers. It was a mess. Was it at least good? The Num Tok and Tom Kha were pretty good. The Num Tok was flavorful, but I do wish it came with more rice. The Pad La Naa unfortunately was very bad. The noodles came separately, and the sauce was in the container that had spilled all over previously. They didn't do a good job wiping it up, so as soon as I opened the lid it went all over. I started mixing it together but soon realized there weren't very many noodles (there was about 4 times as much sauce). The veggies were overcooked, and there were only about five small pieces of chicken. The noodles were also overcooked. It was really bad. Walking in just as they flip the sign from "Closed" to "Open," I was greeted by smiling faces. The decor is very simple, matching the name, as is the food, but do not let that simplicity fool you into thinking the food will be anything less than wonderful. I ordered the Yum Tom soup and the Gang Massaman (a favorite dish of mine) and was blown away by the stellar taste. The soup was spicy and sour, but the mushrooms and fried tofu smoothed out the flavor so that I was left with only the disappointment that I ate it all too fast! The Massaman was as simple and traditional as I have seen, no additions here. Just really good filling meal. I was so happy, I didn't want the lunch to end. I had a great first experience at Simply Thai. I went for dinner and I was seated right away. The atmosphere was pretty old school but comfortable. The menu has a lot of classic Thai dishes and after long consideration I went with the Chicken Pad Thai. The noodles had great flavor and the raw bean sprouts and carrots gave it a good crunch. The portion was a little smaller than I'd like but thats OK because It was Amazing! The service was good but my server seemed uninterested in helping me make a decision. Hands down the best pad thai I have ever eaten. Great consistency and totally tastes authentic. We had the rice spring rolls too, which was delicious. The lunch menu is also a steal, you can pick 2 entrees from the list, and it comes with rice and 2 wontons for under $10. We had the tofu with vegetable and the coconut soup....SOUP was BOMB!! I ordered from them for pickup the other night! The food was delicious! I am super picky about my Thai food and I am always nervous to try new Thai places because you never know! I was blown away. My fiancé got the pineapple curry which was sooo yummy! I am not a huge curry fan but I would eat that! I got two dishes (yum multiple meals) Thai fried rice and pad siew. They were delicious! Not very friendly on the phone. The employee answered with a hello and i asked if i can make a take out order and she said, "it's a two hour wait." I responded by saying ok so it's gonna be done by 9 and she's said yup, two hours. Then i say ok I'll like to place an order for a pad siew and the employee said, "you want to wait for two hours!?!" If i didn't want to wait for two hours i wouldn't have started ordering. I understand you are busy but it does not mean that you have to be rude. I was not rude about the wait time when i was reminded about it two times so that was unnecessary. I know what two hours mean. So sweet. I hate sweet. Thai food is not supposed to be sweet- especially "authentic" I really messed up going to this place. If you like sweet then by all means go. Most people love sweet. But this place must be white washed if they are serving such sugar drenched food. Not authentic. I wish I sent back my order. How wonderful to be able to walk to this place and find: great service- attentive, polite, and familial. Ordered pad thai got it with tofu and it was delicious. It was definitely on the sweeter side so if you don't like that, avoid this menu item. We also got chicken with green curry. Fantastic! Had quite a kick and tons of flavor and a decent amount of chicken and vegetables. The portions were VERY generous. I am not a thai aficionado so i cannot speak to authenticity or compare it to thai offerings in larger cities, i just know i liked it! Always fresh and tasty, with no MSG or other fillers or preservatives, the food here is consistently delicious. I love their fresh spring rolls, but not being a fan of the accompanying dipping sauce, I always request the great peanut dip, which they're happy to provide. Their curries are spot-on, and of course heat customizable. Portions are generous, but the rice is skimpy, although they will always bring more if you ask. My favorite for any Thai option is the Pineapple Chicken Curry (spicy!), and theirs does NOT disappoint. Other loves are the Pad Thai, Chicken Pad Khing, and Massaman Curry. All very good! The personality+ owner is rightfully very proud of her food, and always willing to make whatever you'd like according to your personal preferences. Impressively, they utilize indigenous ingredients sourcing, which results in amazing flavors. They really do offer nice (albeit typical) Thai menu selections, a compact lunch menu, to-go food, and highly attentive service. Simply Thai is our choice for south Salt Lake County's best Thai food! pad thai, the first bite I had I thought I swallowed a big spoonful of sugar! it was so sweet and I asked for a fish sauce to balance the flavor. pad kih king with beef was ok but was not the same like what i saw on the review page. over all, the food was below average. jasmin rice was rather over cooked, chuncky. I may have been so spoiled with good thai food in CA. my friend who came and actually suggested to come based on her friends' recommendation agreed that we should not come back. no thanks! read more
