Love this place. I can't believe it's taken so long to write a review of it. What was I thinking?…read more Location: On 'main Street' near the library one stret from the river and picnic tables. Parking: There's parking on the streets and it's metered until 4:00. I think it's a dollar an hour. There's lots of free parking one street over next to the river. It's a good place to park cuz you could grab something here and go and eat it at the picnic tables along the River Bank boardwalk The building: You woke up a couple of wooden stairs and open the door and you're in a small waiting area. There's a heater with rotisserie chicken in it and a rack with the bread that they've made for the day that you can select. There's a freezer next to an order desk you can grab what you need from the freezer. And the treats and everything else you order at the counter and they make it fresh, with sandwiches, or put your dinners together. The goods: Everyday there's a daily soup and lunch special and a dinner special. Well except for Saturday there's no dinner on Saturday they close early then. You can look on Facebook and they post their weeks menu on Sundays but they also post daily. If you're walking by they have a chalkboard with the specials There's a fridge full of treats and salads. Treats like butter tarts, lemon meringue tarts, carrot cake, brownies, etc. And salads like macaroni salad potato salad pasta salad. My favorite is a pasta salad with broccoli and bacon. It is delicious Personally I like taco Tuesdays. Lunch is a taco special. A lot of times Wednesday dinner special is cabbage rolls and they are my absolute favorite. Fridays dinner is a really good dinner. It usually contains a combination of half chicken and ribs, sometimes both if you're lucky. And occasionally they'll have a special turkey with all the fixings dinner. That's a really good deal There's also a freezer with all the foods and soups that they make inside. So she makes stuff for the day but we'll make extra to put in the freezer that you can buy and take home with you. Oh my God I forgot the fresh bread. They make fresh bread every morning. There's also buns and hot dog buns, you can ask for something specific and if they can accommodate you they'll make it ooh they also have rotisserie chicken everyday. And you can call and order ahead because they post the weekly menu so you can reserve any dinner for lunch. They have a set number of dinners they make. It's pretty good I like coming here.

This is a cute place. We've been here twice & the sweets are delicious! Everyone is so friendly.read more

They had music on Saturday night with a live DJ which was nice. We were actually here twice over the three days we were in town. I ordered a Buddha salad, to be honest the rates was really bland, it really did taste like diet food. This meal had it been given a stronger dressing, maybe a sun dried tomato dressing, it would have increased the flavour profile to a new level. But it came with a tasteless tahini I think... The shishito pepper were nice, but the portion was incredibly small, even though it tasted good, it just wasn't bang for buck... $11 for 8 small peppers. The star of the show was the Buddha pizza. This is what we came here two nights in a row for! This pizza has a ton of topping, they weren't stingy by any means! The perfect balance between salty meats and spicy peppers, thin crust, and a delicious sauce! Omg wow! I'm considering moving here for this thing alone! We ordered the passion fruit marg, it was very tasty, but it wasn't slushy like I expected it to be. I think it was a mix or alcohols and passion fruit juice. I enjoyed it quite a bit! Our waitstaff was a young person with yellow hair, nose piercing in the middle of the nose, and they were just amazing! We ordered some items at separate times, and they were just on top of it all. Our food came in a timely manner, they didn't write anything down, and the joint was BUSY! I was so impressed with our server! I haven't experienced customer service like this in a while, so I really do want to give a huge shoutout thank you to you.

The Buddha Pizza was loaded with many toppings that made it interesting. But I was more impressed with the dough; it was just so tasty with the right amount of chewiness. With a carvas (aka dough) this good, I think you will enjoy other pizza varieties just as well. The Miso Bowl was fresh and had a large variety of ingredients, too. Now I think of it, Laughing Buddha's secret of success is freshness and variety. The pricing is within the norm of bistros in a tourist centric area, so it is not cheap yet reasonably priced. Should you want a more affordable meal, I strongly recommend going a few kilometers outside of downtown.

We were in Tobermory for 3 days and went to the Hungry hiker twice for lunch because it was just that good! We ordered the Thanksgiving special called the "Gobbler" - consisting of smoked turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy and homemade stuffing. Perfect for a crisp fall day! I believe their most popular item is the beef brisket sandwich which was also delicious! It's a messy sandwich but it's amazing. I also tried one of their breakfast sandwiches which had a healthy amount of fried eggs, bacon and cheese on a brioche bun. Absolutely hit the spot. Lastly, their Dilly Tots were *chef's kiss*. Perfectly crispy out the outside, and fluffy on the inside. Loaded with dill to season with a sour cream dill sauce on the side. The only "downside" is that there is only outdoor seating. While it isn't the most comfortable, its part of the vibe. It probably isn't a big deal in the summer but for a chillier day, many people were eating inside their car.

This place is a solid option since they have a covered patio section for bad weather, a small playground for energetic kids, and dog water bowl for furry kids. There is a single port-a-potty if you need as well. The owner is super friendly and food comes out in a reasonable amount of time considering it's usually just one guy cooking. Food: Believer - Packed with 2-3 large eggs, bell pepper, bacon, sriracha mayo, and served with a brioche bun. It's a hearty breakfast sandwich with just enough zip to keep things interesting 4.5/5 Western - A classic egg sandwich with cheese and a smidge of ham. It's plainer than the Believer but larger and more filling. 3/5 Reuben - Pretty legit with buttered rye bread crisped on the griddle. The corned beef is warmed evenly and tender. You may want to request extra sauerkraut if you're a lover of it but it comes with a reasonable amount normally. They also serve it with a side of homemade honey mustard which is an interesting twist. This is a bit greasy but probably my favorite 5/5 Yeti - This is a seriously crunchy and juicy chicken breast sandwich. The sauce is kind of a sweet heat bbq sauce which is very tasty. It is topped with a tasty and mild coleslaw which brightens things up. A bit small to be a full meal but dang good l, my second favorite 5/5 Overall the 4.5 star rating here is well justified. The menu is extensive for a food truck and they're genuinely making fresh gourmet food. It's honestly one of the best places in Tobermory and out-competes the actual sit-down restaurants. Would highly recommend giving this place a try.
