Don't be caught off guard by the surrounding area of town the restaurant is located in. It's not in a glitzy part of town, but the place has atmosphere. The bar area gives off a dark vibe, but once you walk out to the patio it's like you are in a completely different country. It's cozy, comfortable, earthy and warm. (Bohemian vibe.) They have a large selection of wines, beers and also make some custom, sweet cocktails. The Erdinger Wheat beer is authentic and goes down very easy if you like wheat beets, which I do! The Dill Pizza ZA is unique and worth getting (it was very good). And if you are a Brussels Sprouts person you should also enjoy theirs. We'd recommend this place to any looking for anything other than ordinary food.

Buddha Bowls and Soup of the Day

Laughing Buddha is a casual restaurant in Sudbury, serving mostly vegan and vegetarian dishes (with some meat options). Selection includes salad and grain bowls, pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, and soup of the day. I got the Buddha Bowl with tempeh as the protein choice, and it was really good - rivalled a lot of the salad bowls in vegetarian restaurants in bigger cities. I really liked the mixture of different ingredients and textures, especially the fresh greens, edamame, quinoa, crispy chickpeas, tempeh, avocado, and herbed tahini. The restaurant had a pub-like and laid back vibe with music, perfect for a night out. They serve draft beer and a good selection of drinks as well. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Overall, it was a great restaurant for a healthy meal in a chill atmosphere near downtown Sudbury.

Fried brussel sprouts (5/5) !!! So crisp and savoury!!

Fresh ingredients and delicious wholesome food! Cute patio space too. Too bad the service was nonsense. THE GOOD - We ordered the FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS. Man, it was so crisp and absolutely mouth-watering with that Parmesan & mayo aioli. Then, I had their MISO BUDDHA BOWL. All the toppings were done right, came in good portions, and sauce was delicious. The quinoa was cooked al dente though, so it wasn't fluffy & soft. THE BAD - Slow service and inconsistent reason for not being able to make my Miso Buddha bowl in the beginning!! They claimed it was because of a lack of ALL ingredients by 8pm even though they're opened till 11pm... then the waiter came back (after me requesting them to talk to the kitchen again), and said it was because they ran out of dressing and they can make it. Lame excuses. My 'clean' water cup also had strawberry seeds in it, so that was concerning.

Atmosphere outside was great! It was warm enough to edit outside on the patio in Sudbury on November 8th! The patio is super cute! They have some individual patio tabletop fireplaces (now I totally want one for our cottage). The beer selection is good, however, they need to offer more LOCAL Sudburian beer on their menu. I don't want to drink a beer from southern Ontario, I want to try the local craft. We had the jalapeño poppers, which were okay. Nothing fancy. They were deep fried jalapeño slices (round ones like you get in a jar) and served with sour cream. The pizza we had though....Wow! It was the dill pickle pizza! It was amazing! Really! I swear, if anyone comes at me and says that pineapple or pickles do not belong on pizza, I don't think that we can be friends...

For vegan and vegetarian eater, this is the place to go in Sudbury, good patio to hangout. I tried the deep fried Brussels sprout and Hala Kahiki Aki pizza (has prosciutto) for meat eater, Its a thumbs up

    Beer that tastes like pickles

Considering the hype, I decided to try this restaurant out. I think this restaurant is a nice place to chill out and drink their large variety of beers. Food may be pricey to some people. Food: 3.5/5. Pizza was very thin crust and the toppings were unique. I also liked how we were able to substitute our pizza for an Alfredo base instead of tomato with no complications. $18 for a medium sized pizza is definitely harsher for the wallet than I would like. The taste of the pizza didn't really stick out to me. Drinks: 3/5. the golden beach was a very light beer which is good for those who don't like a very strong tasting beer. The cucumber and lime sour beer tasted like pickles. I did not like it but if you like pickles, then go for it. Server: 4/5. Server came around a few times to ask how things were going. Very nice and approachable. Had no problems in getting the bill even when asked to split. Place: 4.5/5. Good atmosphere. Has a nice patio in the back. Relatively clean wooden tables and chairs.

One time, at band camp...no just kidding; one time when I was 14, there was a band called…read moreFurnaceface and I really liked this band. I heard they were coming to Sudbury and were going to play an all ages show so I did everything I could to come up with a bit of money and a ride, grabbed my best friend, and experienced my first ever live music show - at the Townehouse Tavern. This first experience has defined a lot of my life - music choices, friend choices, etc. I've gone on to see many shows and have many drunken (and sober) nights at the Townehouse. When I go home for a visit, it's always on the agenda. The bar has been going strong for close to 25 years now, booking a wide array of bands and musicians, some barely known and some well known. For a city like Sudbury, it's truly an impressive thing. I thought that perhaps I was being biased by giving the Townehouse 5 stars, based on my affinity for live music and pubs and the fact that there is a serious lack of each in Sudbury. But I don't think that's it - this is just a genuinely great bar, down to earth, good music, good people, good times. When you're booking amazing talent like Bedouin Soundclash, Bocephus King, etc. and won't submit to crap music, you deserve 5 stars. I can't sum it up much better than Paul does on the Townehouse website - there is a great about us section that outlines the history of the venue. My only complaints would be that the washrooms are kind of yuck and that the bouncers are sometimes a bit jerky because they work at the coolest and most 'alternative' bar in town. But, that counts for a few minutes of your night and then you're whisked back into 1994 or 2000 or whenever it was that you first happened to start frequenting the Townehouse - and I mean this is a good way. Your friends are there, a good band is playing, you play a round of foos and drink some beer. Could you really ask for anything more on a Sudbury Saturday Night?
