Was searching for good fried rice, was skeptical of this place being a pho place, but had good reviews. We had spring rolls, pho, orange chicken, and pork fried rice and two Thai iced teas. My wife and I both over ate because everything was amazing, still had enough for both of us to have lunch the next day for less than 50 dollars which was a fantastic value! Best part of restaurant was the to go containers. Absolutely bland food, couldn't tell shrimp from lettuce in spring roll. Fried rice had no taste at all. Had the Beef Chow Fun again on a Saturday night and it was very good. Did not order it dark which actually came out too salty last time. Nicely prepared as is. The best Beef Chow Fun you're going to find in this area. Ordered the Singapore Noodles with Shrimp AND BBQ Pork this time, liked the combo! Only wish the pork was sliced instead of chunked, but still really good. Their potstickers are deep fried, not pan seared, and resemble gyozas. They don't use pork inside. Orange Chicken is a very Americanized dish and here, it looks and tastes like what you would expect from this dish. Just unseasoned white meat chicken chunks, battered, deep fried, dripping in sweet sauce. If you like orange chicken, maybe you'll like it here. read more

I've been here twice. Once with the whole family and once with my wife. I Reeeaaally try not to be grumpy, so think of these comments as "notes" to consider. 1) the curry is non-distinct. It's definitely not Japanese, it's definitely not Thai, might be Chinese. I'm not familiar with Vietnamese curry. (Server told me Thai, I'm pretty sure she made that up . . . I suggest you pass on it). 2). If you're familiar with Vietnamese style fried rice, don't expect that here. 3). Wait staff. Already noted but deserves its own header. Friendly. Not to be confused with helpful though (probably just a learning curve). I WILL continue to come here though. The flavors are good (bun, string bean chicken, Kung Pao). They have egg rolls. . . And for sure these pass as Vietnamese. I have kids who would order orange chicken at Burger King if they could. (They have an orange chicken my kids like here. They have a chow fun they did not like). The aesthetic is simple but isn't unpleasant. I like the walnut tone tables. It's new. Clean. Full of natural sunlight. Don't come here for a special evening. I like this place and I like the dine-in vibe. I have gone solo several times and enjoyed service. Its a family run restaurant. The food tastes fresh and seasoned well. My friend said it's the best thai tea in town. I personally like the salt and pepper squid and the fresh salad rolls. They have multiple condiment sauces on the table and I like choices. Tried their bún (vermicelli noodle salad) - it was delicious and fresh. I asked for no shrimp due to shellfish allergy and they were able to give me more pork. Service was fast, food was good. Pork and egg roll complimented the vermicelli and veggies well though the ratio could be better (compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I eat at). We tried this place based off of reviews. It suffers from "Salem's" ideal of good food as many restaurants in the area.. We ordered Bun noodle - terrible. The pork was fatty and cold the shrimp were not included and they took my food away to get colder and add 3 over cooked greasy flavorless shrimp. The egg roll was hot and okay in flavor. As for the nuoc cham sauce that makes or breaks Bun. It was lacking in acid and fish sauce. It was watery and did not have balanced flavors. We also, ordered chicken broccoli kind of Chinese/Thai style. The garlic sauce was okay, did not taste homemade. The chicken was soft as well as the broccoli. The side of rice was slight undercooked. The chicken wings are too salty (way too salty than it should be). I have eaten Vietnamese food for my whole life and this could be one of the worst Vietnamese food that I tried. This place was pretty decent. Quick service too. I ordered the pho with rare steak and brisket. But I also skipped out on the rice noodles because I can never finish it. The price for the pho was pretty good. Under $10 for a large bowl that you probably can't finish in one sitting I had to take some home. Along with that i tried the salt and caramel calamari and it was very very good. Everything was crispy and it had a nice coating of salt and pepper. OK went here on a Saturday recently around 6:30 PM. Its in a strip mall place ..with actual nice eating choices. Entering, its a pretty small space but they lay out makes the best of it and we never felt crammed in. Servers were very sweet and nice and on the ball. WE were promptly seated and ordered the salt and pepper calamari as a starter..it was delicious and different from most of the salt and pepper calamari I have had..but a good different. The chopped pepper relish/salad they had it served with was great. the breading/batter fantastic..a great start. Next i ordered the Tom-Yum soup and my daughter ordered a small bowl of the chicken pho. Tom-Yum was not the best I have had but was good and warming. Kid said her Pho was good. Food was okay. Resturant was clean. Hostess seemed absent minded when there wasn't new customers or take out orders. The server provided good service- she was very kind. We had the pork vermicelli bowel, steak bites, salad rolls and fried calamari. I felt they skimp on food quantity for the price. My vermicelli bowl was mostly lettuce; meat serving was acceptable. I think we had like 7-8 pieces of calamari. The salad roll was missing favors like mint, cilantro and green onions. It was basically noodles, shrimp and lettuce wrapped on rice paper. The steak bites were the only item without complaint. They charge $1.50 for a small bowel of rice. It doesn't come with your entree (the steak bites). I find it odd that rice don't come with the entree. It's kind of like a burger without fries. If we do return, I'll try their pho. I hope that's better. read more

This small restaurant offers a nice meal for a fair price. Our table ordered Pho with seafood, one with tofu, and one with vegetables. We started with shrimp fresh spring rolls served with a tasty peanut sauce. The food came out quickly and was really good. We had great service. No regrets here! The curry is not what I'm accustomed to, it's definitely a Vietnamese flare rather than a Thai curry. Spicier and darker than I'm used to. Still good, just didn't hit the spot. The portion sizes are generous and the price is fantastic. The spring rolls are delicious too, the peanut sauce is perfect and the meat options are shrimp, pork or veggie so they provide a full variety. My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way to car shopping, we decided to stop into this place because we just so happened to see it on the way, I was already craving pho but am pretty particular given in Eugene there is only one location that i like! The restaurant was completely packed with groups of twos waiting to be seated. I could smell the aroma from outside and I was already super excited. My go to place for Pho in Salem. I come from the bay area where there are a lot of good Pho restuarants and this place is the closest in comparison I've found. Wish they have other pho options like bun bo hue and bun rieu (only reason for the 4 star rating) but their regular pho offering is exceptional with good clean flavor and good quality meats. Weird but also a plus, they serve great chinese food as well. Their chow fun, kung pow chicken, and Singaporean noodles are my favorites. It gets pretty busy during dinner time but the turn around is very quick partly due to the food being brought out quickly and partly for the attentive staff. I absolutely love this place! Their crab puffs and chicken pad thai are my go to items. I also have had their brisket pho, which is also really good. I enjoy putting sriracha in it. Back when we could sit down and eat a meal, the customer service is fantastic. They are kind, courteous, and quick. But once things started shutting down, they eventually did a to-go service. Really hard to like this place. Pho was painfully bland, and that was after having to ask for wooden chopsticks since the smell of bleach on the regular chopsticks was overwhelming. The meat cuts were good, hence the second star, but overall, the food was very very forgettable. It was hard enough to remember to finish this review.
