Event: wine, cheese and cookies pairing
    Amanda F.

We booked a wine cheese and cookie pairing event here and had the best time! The shop closed and the event began thereafter; I was the first one to show up. I put on a name tag and took my seat. While I waited, the owner started pouring wine! Woohoo! In fact, the wine was not limited. She poured if you asked! And they refilled throughout anyways. So fun. The wine was from Washington state and it was good. No rep present for the wine; it was chosen by the cheese shop owner. The cookies were very good, a well known bakery in the area, but the cheese was the star! It was amazing to see how the cheese made the wine better or worse (but still good of course). All the cheeses and cookies were explained. We had plenty of time to taste and compare and chat with our table mates. In the end, cookies, cheese, wine and everything in the store was for sale! The owner even gave us a nice discount on anything we purchased that night. I left with two big pieces of two of the cheeses we enjoyed. The shop is super cute with stemware and cutting boards etc. You could easily find a gift for someone. They also have stuff for charcuterie boards if you wanna have a picnic. They have frequent events! Follow their instagram for the details. We loved meeting the owner and getting to know her. We would definitely return for another event and honestly, just to shop. She has a lot of unique cheeses!

Stopped in here to pick up some cheese for an event I was hosting a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to go back! Fantastic selection of cheeses and super friendly staff. As soon as we walked in everyone working there was eager to help us find what we were looking for. Everyone was spoke to was very knowledgable about the cheese selection. Best of all, you can sample any of the cheeses before you buy! We also learned that they host cheese and wine tasting events. I'm looking forward to trying one of those once there is one that syncs up with my schedule. We walked out with a great selection of cheeses which were a hit at our party. I especially can't wait to get back and get more of the caña de cabra. Currently dreaming up excuses to host another cheese-focused event...

Simply Cheese is one of Orlando's hidden gems. As a huge lover, I had longed for a place where I could buy gourmet cheese at a good price. Simply Cheese offers just that! My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to sign up for the Halloween board class. This was part of my late birthday present and I enjoyed it a ton. Make sure to stop by to buy some cheese and look at what classes they offer each month. Can't wait to come back.

I'm have always wanted to check out Simply Cheese and I finally had the opportunity to see why it's expanded to two locations! Winter park is the larger store and we were greeted by Laurie our "cheese goddess". Laurie had us sampling any cheese we wished and explained how every one was made. When I tell you there were soooooo many different experiences in cheeses to have it's an understatement! They also carry brands for sauces and dips from well known companies like the Savannah bee company which is my favorite! The store was so inviting with everything you could ask for your cheese needs! They also have a cheese of the month at 20% off so it's a perfect excuse to widen your cheese pallet at a good price. Being surrounded by so much cheese was an instant mood booster let me tell you! They also offer classes on pairing and they all sell out so they must be onto something! I definitely want to try that!!! We will return without a doubt!

Welcome to Winter Park! I've been looking forward to this place opening for a while! They have a wonderful selection of crackers, pickled goods and other cheese board accompaniments to go with the cheeses they sell. The staff is very friendly with the welcome committee at the door. It's day one, and the line wraps the store to try the cheese sampelings. They were very generous with the samples. I ended up getting a nice variety of cheeses to enjoy! I will definitely be back!!

With a name like "Simply Cheese", you should know what to expect. The great news is; they're so much more. I cannot claim to be quite the cheese aficionado that my son is. I like the well-known cheese products; cheddar, parmesan, curds- you know, the good stuff. My son, in turn, loves the more exotic cheeses- the ones you're more likely to eat with wine or hors d'oeuvres or somewhere fancy. Luckily for us, Simply Cheese has all those plus other homemade things such as jams, pickles, sausages and crackers, and most importantly: cheese cutters! You gotta get one. If you're making plans for a wine tasting; this is the place to be. If you want to try all the cheeses the world has to offer; come here. Free samples of all the stuff in the case. Hopefully soon they'll expand their selection of curds to include some flavored ones. There is so much variety to have and the staff is wonderful! Check them out!!

Ready to try samples! Or ask for them to cut you a taste off of any of the cheeses in the cooler. So. many. options!

This place is so, so cute! The unique cheese selection is extensive, and free samples! We got to try a bunch of different options before picking our favorites. Also picked up some great pickles, and snacks to accompany our cheeses. The owners are friendly and helpful, and we were told they'll be offering even more things soon. Like charcuterie board classes, catering boards and boxes, and beer and wine! We will definitely be back. 8 thumbs up from us!

I have been going to this place for a while now and I have fallen in love with all of the cheeses and the whole store. If I could I would come here every week just to review every single cheese for everyone. I have recommended so many people to this place and they have all loved it and their experience has just been amazing. Ann is such a sweetheart and has even remembered our name- (but to be honest I come here like a grocery store) It's such a good experience and they let you do all the sampling you want.

Went during the Grand Opening. Parking is tight in this little shopping center so you might need to park around the corner. The store itself is small but has everything you would need to put together your own cheese board. There were boards, cheese knives, crackers, olives, nuts, jams, honey and more. There is a cooler at the back with pre-packaged cheese where I picked up a couple of Sartori BellaVitano cheeses. Then there are the cheese cases and you can try a sample of any of the cheeses before you buy. I got some Melkbus 149 Truffles Gouda. I've had truffle Gouda but not this brand before and it was great, very smooth taste. Most of the cheeses I saw I had tried or seen before so I didn't see anything really unusual but since this shop is new, I'm sure they'll get more cheeses once they see what their clientele likes.

It has such a strong local vibe and it is cool to see a mix of smaller vendors alongside some more well known food spots. That said there are a few things worth noting. First, seating can be a challenge. There is plenty of outdoor seating but not much indoors. The day we went it was pretty hot and sitting outside was not the most enjoyable experience at times. Second, I fully support spending money at local businesses but the tipping culture here felt a bit excessive. I bought a bag of coffee beans with no drink and was prompted for a tip. I spent $45 for 12 pieces of chocolates at Oban Chocolatier and was asked for a tip there too. Same thing when I spent about $25 on four cookies at Gideon's Bakehouse. I am happy to support but it started to feel like a lot in a not enjoyable way. Third, the hours between vendors can be a bit awkward. We came around brunch time which worked for some spots but others were not open yet. For example, Domu does not open until dinner (5PM) and Gyukatsu Rose was not opening until later in the afternoon (3 PM) Overall, I think this is a great place to check out especially if you enjoy trying a variety of local spots. Just plan ahead for seating and timing and be prepared for lots of tip prompts along the way.

We tried the hummus with fresh vegetables, a charcuterie board, and the olive oil flight, and everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The olive oil flight was also a really unique experience and a great way to try something a little different. What really made the visit stand out, though, were the owners. They were fantastic, personable, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They asked about our preferences and gave great wine recommendations based on what we each liked, which made the whole experience feel personal rather than transactional. To pair, Chris helped us with our wine selection. I'm a huge Pinot Noir fan and originally thought I was going to go with a Pinot Noir but my mood was to have something lighter and a bit sweeter. Chris let me sample a nice Riesling and was sold right away on having a glass. Today, though, I noticed them selling Japanese Wagyu as: Sake Infused Dry Aged A9 Kobe Strip. This is a very scammy way of selling a product. First, meat is graded broadly on three scales - USDA (choice, prime), BMS (beef marbling scale - common in Aus), and the Japanese grading scale. (A1-A5, with most high end steaks being A4 or the gold standard, A5). https://meatnbone.com/blogs/the-clever-cleaver/meat-beef-grading-system-understanding A9 doesn't exist. A BMS 9 could be an A5. But this is mislabeled. They have also used the term A11 in their instagram account. Maybe they are confusing BMS for A-scale, or maybe they are intentionally trying to make their product seem better than competitors. Furthermore, not all Japanese Wagyu is Kobe beef. Kobe beef refers to Tajima cattle raised in Hyogo Japan. The export of this beef is highly regulated to only certain restaurants and purveyors, who will display a seal and certificate certifying the origin of the beef. It is rare, expensive, and most importantly, Bush Brothers (Local Butcher's wholesale purveyor) is not certified to sell, nor do they use in any way, the term Kobe Beef. So it is incredibly likely that this product is mislabeled. This isn't illegal (Kobe beef doesn't have a TM in the US), but it is disingenuous. https://www.kobe-niku.jp/en/contents/certification/index.html https://instagram.com/bushbros Next, "sake infused"is incredibly confusing. Is it referring to the myth that Kobe cattle are massaged with sake? Is it referred to the use of koji (fermented cooked rice) which is often used as an aging accelerant? Or did they really take Japanese Wagyu and infuse (inject, soak?) with sake? And why on earth would you do that!? It would be like making sangria with a bottle of DRC. This product is likely a A5 strip loin (which Bush Bros. does carry) that has been aged. Market price would be somewhere around $175-185/lb. (An unaged cut would be around $150/lb.) When I asked for more information on the most expensive cut of meat in their shop, I was treated with disdain and a dismissive attitude. Neither member of the staff could answer my questions other than to say "It's the highest grade of Kobe beef." To charge $215 dollars for a grade that doesn't exist, for a steak that isn't from Kobe, with an aging method that seems dubious at best, is disingenuous and plays on a lack of consumer knowledge. If The Local Butcher themselves don't know the differences here, they shouldn't sell this product. If they do, they should be ashamed of themselves.
