If you're looking for something premium olive oil, truffle oil and/or balsamic vinegar (white, rose, or red), some of them with VERY unique flavors (such as blackberry ginger or espresso balsamic vinegar) this is your place. I opt for their vinegars in travel size, allowing me to enjoy a variety of flavors without waste or overspending on larger bottles. 2 other reasons why I always end up buying something there: being able to try each and every flavor allows me to make an informed decision (a HUGE plus for me); very kind and attentive staff.

This gem of a place is hidden behind the shops on Park Ave. We enjoyed sampling the unique varieties of olive oils and vinegars.

Friendly service, unique gifts and other delectable items. Cozy, rustic gem entices food lovers to come in and enjoy the many flavors of their olive oils and vinegars.

Hidden little spot. As soon as you walk in, you're nicely greeted and shown around. You can try all the oils and vinegar. It's pretty unique! Many options to choose from.

I stumbled upon this gem while walking through the area. I didn't have that much time so I made sure to come back so I could taste some of the selections that interested me. It is pretty cool to have a spot where you can do this and to me quite unheard of. It definitely helps out when deciding if I want to purchase. The staff is welcoming and respectful. They had little snacks out to try with the oils and vinegars - very nice experience. I would have love to hear some more backgrounds about how the oils are imported or some interesting facts or what not but I did get some inquires answered. Many are coming from different regions and depending on peak seasons is usually how it's distributed to them. I would also love to see a shop like this a bit closer to me, it's such a great concept and way to encourage cleaner eating and some enhanced home cooking. I went with the Tuscan herb olive oil. It's a more mild Italian herb oil that I found would be useful for most my dish's. There's so many though.. who would have known good oils could have so much richness and depth!

The "Sunshine" vinegar is a buyers' favorite for good reason!

The Ancient Olive (TAO) has become a periodic stop in our shopping for two reasons. One: Over the past year, we've switched up and simplified our salad dressing by using infused olive oils and flavored balsamic vinegars. Two: TAO provides many wonderful flavored options for both olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Besides the store full of plentiful oil and vinegar options, TAO is staffed with employees who know their main products and sincerely want to assist you. The store is small but maneuverable, and seemingly always full of people and energy. Tasting is welcomed. Bottle sizes vary to provide many needs, whether small, medium, or large. On a recent visit to pick up and replenish our favorite vinegar, Florida Sunshine, the store set up a small counter to highlight a local vendor. I found out later that they regularly support local small businesses. On this particular day, coffee from sustainable farms located in Costa Rica was highlighted. The owner, a Rollins MBA professor, informed us of the details because we asked. I enjoyed the coffee sample so much, I purchased a bag of freshly roasted beans to take home as well. You'll find other miscellaneous packaged goods in the store. When you check out, you'll be asked if you want to join their rewards program. You accumulate points for purchases and for returning empty Ancient Olive bottles to the store. It's a fun stop, whether you purchase something or not. Look for the little entryway that opens up to a few stores just beyond the sidewalk along Park Avenue.

Great experience at this wonderful and unique retailer in Winter Park. They sell a lot of different varieties and flavors of olive oil and balsamic that you can actually try. A lot of neat gifts and unique items that you cannot get anywhere else. The staff was very friendly and informative. Nice setting..

My first visit to this little olive oil haven was several years ago thanks to a Yelp Elite event. Since then it had been on the back of my radar to return, however, I just never quite made it. Then, thanks to another olive oil tasting event hosted by a company in New York in 2021, I was reminded that I had this gem in my backyard. The draw of an unadulterated extra virgin olive oil complete with the peppery after taste called out to me. I finally, finally made it back...and several times hence. And I joined the rewards perks, too. If you love authentic olive oil then visiting The Ancient Olive should top your list of things to do. They are a small shop but have lots to offer. There are olive oil and balsamic vinegar tastings available which allows you to try before you buy. Many of which have various infusions including butter, fruits and bacon. Once you've made your selections consider picking up some of the other unique items including jams, jellies, specialty cheeses, pasta, herbs, spices and more. Every employee that I've met has been friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. So whether you're a newbie or looking for something specific, be sure to ask for assistance. If you visit their website you'll find that they ship around the country. How cool is that? Finally, if you bring your clean, dry original bottle back for a refill you will receive a small discount! Save a bottle, save our planet.

The Ancient Olive in Winter Park, FL, is a gem for culinary enthusiasts. This charming shop offers an impressive selection of high-quality olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and gourmet foods. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and they provided excellent recommendations and tastings that matched my dietary restrictions. They certainly made shopping experience a positive one. The beautifully curated store invites exploration, and the products elevate any dish. I especially love the oils and vinegars for dipping bread into and creating the perfect salad dressings. One of the staff recommend trying some of the flavored vinegar with seltzer water for a different take on soda and it was pretty good. This is must-visit for anyone looking to enhance their culinary creations!

If you're looking to amp up your cooking game with quality olive oils, balsamic vinegar and other local eats, then this store on Park Avenue in Winter Park is for you. It sits behind a few other stores with a passageway into this small looking store with more room on the inside than you'd think. And it's filled with goodies, and you will be too after you leave. I was curious how they'd handle the tastings in a new Covid-19 world, and honestly, I like it better now than I did in the past, other than the mask policy (I understand it but when sampling, it's kind of a pain to sample). The staff was super friendly and helpful and if you wanted to try something, they'd run to the back corner and be right back with a sample. I liked that better than having all of the bottles out like they did before. I don't have to worry about getting oily anymore. They didn't question anything my wife and I wanted to sample. They have a slew of flavored and unflavored olive oils and vinegar. We tried a good portion of them and after trying one of the hot spicy oils, I was glad I had the mask and it hits you and causes some coughing. They're good at explaining the benefits of said oils and recommending what you'd use a particular flavor with. They did away with the paper punch cards and finally went electronic. They converted my punches (I remembered to bring it with me this time) into their electronic format. They also no longer do a bottle exchange so don't go carrying them from your car to the store any more. They also have other items like "gourmet" pastas, dips, chocolate, and local honey. We ended up with 8 bottles since we don't make it here too often and we ran low on our previous oils. Great staff and great store on Park Avenue that we are glad is open and is just as good, if not better than pre-pandemic.

    Balsamic Vinegar selection.

This is my go-to place for quality oils and this place has a huge variety to choose from. I decided to try their selection of balsamic vinegars this time because I heard great things about these products also. The staff is very helpful and allows you to browse and sample different oils and vinegars. I wasn't too hip on Fig balsamic vinegar, but once I was given a taste, I went home with a bottle! I tested a few combinations and was provided with a "Suggested Pairing and Fact Sheet" to help me with my experimentation. I purchased a bottle of blueberry balsamic, too, to see how creative I could be as the staff encouraged me to play around with the pairings and have fun! They have a reward program which is currently switching from the card punch process to digital. The staff took my prior punch card and stated they would put those points into my online account. Overall, a very fun place to shop and explore.

While I really love the Ancient Olive, the prices are becoming difficult to afford. I'm glad customers can sample products before purchasing! I most enthusiastically suggest trying the fruity balsamic options, especially since they are so potent and versatile. My last bottle has lasted over a year and has definitely been the best investment so far. The location is a part of a cute courtyard near other shops and restaurants, so it offers some privacy and great photo opportunities! Even if you are not an olive oil enthusiast, I definitely recommend a visit.

If you love to experiment in the kitchen, what are you waiting for? Here you will find the best balsamics that are so on point on represented taste. We have been coming here for about 8 years (or more), and have always felt appreciated and rewarded. Their loyalty program (now card free & mobile) is the best. My favorite balsamic of all time is Lavender, which goes splendid on pork chops and churrasco. You will become the gourmet cook for your block (or apartment hall :-). As far as Olive Oil - run for the bacon infused oil. You will thank me - perfect for making soups and blended rices, as well as breasts of chicken. Last visit, I was lucky to meet the owners and they are just the best ambassadors for the brand. Will continue my loyalty for years to come!

Want to spend 3 hours on a guided stroll down Park Ave stopping in restaurants, shops and learning…read moreabout some history? Check this out! Nice for locals and visitors. Having seen a lot of post cards for this event around Park Ave, we decided to give it a try this past weekend. We went with the Saturday tour and unfortunately, we were interrupted with some rain during our tour so we didn't get the full history and stroll that usually is part of it. Bummed but we didn't let it stop us from having a good time. Reid was our guide for the day and also a founder of this Food Tour. He was fun and very lighthearted throughout our experience. I do feel that since there was rain we missed most of what the tour was trying to accomplish, which was to give us a history lesson as well. I do have to say, I didn't learn much but since we were scurrying to each location, I know it was difficult. They do warn you of the rain, I mean, hello! It's Florida! So they recommend bringing an umbrella! Do yourself a favor and do that if there is more than 30% chance! You will be glad you did. For a $47 price tag, check out the stops we headed to and keep in mind, they are the same stops for each tour but they will be adding a new tour of the other end of Park Ave in the next few months. This is a tour of 6 businesses which consist of: Prato Ancient Olive The Spice & Tea Exchange Orchid Thai Cuisine Kilwin's Sassafras Sweet Shoppe Prato I have been various times so I already knew it was going to be a great kick-off to the tour. When you booked, there were an option of Wine or Beer. I went for the wine and a red wine was waiting as we were seated at the table. We tried 2 of their pizzas and had their house bread as well. It was lovely as you really can't have a bad experience in Prato. However, I think this would have been a great opportunity for someone from Prato to chat about their business but Reid did a pretty good rundown. Ancient Olive By far, Ancient Olive took the cake for being the highlight of the tour. WOW! Not only does this shop rock in it's own right, they know how to host a tour of people who love food and want a taste of local. We had someone from Ancient Olive walk us through an Olive Oil & Balsamic tasting, think Wine tasting but with Olive Oil & Balsamic. They also had some tapenade and a goat cheese spread with balsamic and almonds to snack on. They carry a local all-natural beverage mixer as well, Bungalow23 and we had the Prickly Pear. Just when we thought we were already in heaven, another door opened: Ice Cream with Olive Oil and salt... OMGGGGG... I could have stopped the tour here and taken a bath in this. You are not supposed to shop on this tour but it was raining and I spent almost $70 here. Such a great stop. The Spice & Tea Exchange They have so many teas, salts, spices and peppers than you could ever imagine. The best part is they have kick-a recipes to use and we tasted two of them on this stop. Beer cheese dip and an orzo pasta. The pasta was delicious! We also had one of their cold brew teas. Lovely stop. I did feel a little rushed from here on out but that may have been because the rain kept us at the 2nd stop for a long time. Orchid Thai Cuisine I have been here and unfortunately, everything we tasted, chicken satay and their appetizer platter was everything I have had here before. Didn't get much of a new experience here and didn't really learn anything about the business except they have been there for 6 years. Kilwin's My least fav stop on the tour. Not sure why we went with Kilwin's since it's not local. When we arrive, we really didn't learn anything about the business and no one from there interacted with us. We had a taste of the Winter Park Mud, vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and carmel. It was good but the ice cream wasn't very smooth, it was more crystalized. I am not into fudge so I gave mine away. It was the turtle fudge. Sassafras Sweet Shoppe I adore this store so I was excited to see this on the stop. However, we only spent about 2 minutes in here and grabbed cotton candy and went and ate it under an awning outside and were sent on our way. A very abrupt ending but it was still raining out so I guess we couldn't expect too much. Overall, wasn't blown away but I did it with 2 friends and the others that were on the tour were fun as well. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon even if the stops and content didn't blow me away.

However, it turned out to be a flavorful, shareable Turkish dining experience that was well worth the money even though I'm very much A Poor.   The must-order for the table on each visit is the Lavas ($6), a baked to order hollow bread that has a taste akin to a pita but arrives "puffed up" and has a light, airy taste to it (we ended up ordering two, we liked it with our dips so much).   We ordered the Select Two Appetizer ($12) to dip our Lavas in, and chose the Cold Cucumber Dip and the Muhammara (a puree of red peppers, walnuts, garlic, olive oil, and pomegranate molasses) as our two.   To drink, I ordered the Old-Fashioned Turk ($15), an old-fashioned but with house-made Turkish fig bitters and cherry juice, which gave it a distinctive, almost spicy(?) taste.   Though some items are pricier than others, it's possible to eat here affordably if 2-3 people are splitting a few appetizers and an entree. There were three of us that night, but for our entrée we ordered the Mixed Grill Dinner for Two ($54). Despite the name, this huge plate of meats was more than enough for the three of us to split. The meats consisted of Beef Kebap, Chicken, and Lamb, and was served over rice and came with a side of something similar to tzatziki dip.   Parking can be an issue depending on when you go (it's situated right on Park Ave in Winter Park), but there are street lots across the street about a 5 minute walk away, and street parking along neighboring side streets.   Because of the price, this is definitely more of a special occasion restaurant for me than something casual, but you get a good amount of food for the price, with good atmosphere and even better service, so I'd definitely return again.
