Drove about an hour to come to this herbal shop and THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Im from California so for me having a large selection is essential. I had went to another shop and they didnt have ANYTHING!!! I saw this place was far but once i visited the other shop and saw their 25 basically empty jars i knew i had to find my way here!I came to Orlando for Football and all the players on our team got sick. They kept trying over the counter medicine and nothing helped so i came with my herbal knowledge and grab a few packs of different herbs to help get myself right!!! I love this shop and have been a customer for many years even before this new location. I stayed loyal even though I moved from Orlando to Sarasota. I shopped again Friday and must say it's still lovely but most of the prices have DOUBLED. I don't know if they are under new ownership or not but my usual small purchase of $35.00 herb list was now $76.00! That is a big jump. I normally buy my herbs in 4's and my normal larger order would be closer to $200 (without the price spike) I also receive a10% discount for spending $100 or more. So, that $200 will turn into $400! Maybe I missed the price increase announcement. I'll look around for other options instead of taking the drive to Orlando from Sarasota unless I really have to from now on. I still love the place. Just not the price spike. read more

Checked out this store for the first time today. I've been to the other apothecaries in the area but I will say that this one is the most spacious ! They have the largest array of roots & herbs I've ever seen - you can buy them by the ounce or by the pound. They have a limited selection of crystals and stones, but the ones they have are very nice and they have some that the other apothecaries in the area don't carry. I will say the pricing here is better than their competitors in many of the things they have. They also have a section for learning that has a table and chairs with coloring pages for kids - HUGE up side if you have kids because there is actually something for them to do other than bump into every breakable table in sight. Not to mention because the layout is so spacious, strollers aren't an issue! Highly recommend and I WILL be back! read more

Recently visited Leaves and Roots last Friday and was racially profiled. I came there with the intention of buying detoxifying herbs. Keep in mind, this was my first time in a store like this, though I had an idea of what herbs I wanted to buy I figured I would ask the women who worked there for some suggestions. When I asked if she had any suggestions on what the best detoxifying herbs were, she proceeded to ask me if I was taking a test. So utterly confused by the question, I asked what she meant, she then proceeded to ask if I was taking a drug test. I dont know about you but when someone who is in a health conscious store is asking for detoxifying herbs why would the first question to ask them be if they are trying to pass a drug test without them ever disclosing that to you? What about me made you assume that I would be taking a drug test that I wouldn't pass? Is it because I am Black? Is it because I have braids? What information did you gather about me during the 10seconds it took for me to ask you that question that you would assume I was potentially taking drugs. I was so lost for words that I just walked away. This was one of the worst experiences, and I hope no one ever has to go through this when shopping here. I regret spending money in this establishment. However, I now have learned my lesson. Wishing all who work there peace and the ability to confront their biases/racism. read more

This discovery I found is great! The selection of herbs, crystals, health food, holistic medicine is beyond any selection I have seen in Orlando. The shop is set up in a cute way. Everything you are looking for is right in front of you. Everything is organized in a nice fashion, so that you can clearly see what there is to offer. I love my crystals and Himalayan salt. There are tons of crystals to choose from, which makes me so happy. The woman who was working was SO friendly and ready to explain anything. Alright kids, time to gather 'round and hear a tale of a wondrous place hidden in a tiny strip just past Ekon on Colonial. You wouldn't think much of the place looking at it from the outside, and your first reaction might be to think: "What the heck is this place anyway? Some kind of plant store?" But upon walking in (Watch your step! No seriously, I've seen people trip on that steep bit of stair) You're suddenly hit the pleasant aroma of burning incense and the sound of soft music playing in the background, and so the fun begins.... Like Dana H. Said; they've got a VERY extensive variety of natural herbs and teas. Teas for things you wouldn't even think of like "blood pressure" and "Insomnia." As well as your usual 'earl grey' and 'oolong' . I am personally very pleased with the fact that Orlando has a shop that offers an aid to such ailments. It gives people a choice to go natural as opposed to having to think that their only option is to head straight for meds. There are some interesting types of teas that I'd be willing to buy if I knew what they'd taste like. I really wish they'd do tea sampling on the weekends or something. I think that would get people excited about what they have to offer. As far as prices are concerned; my 1oz blend runs at $1.90... No kidding. You simply can't beat it. The staff is super friendly too, and have always been willing to answer questions. So the next time you're driving down Colonial and you see that hippie looking store with a poster of a model next to it who looks like she's doing a commercial for Colgate white strips, but she's holding a gyro in her hand and in big bold letters it says "EAT MORE GYROS" You'll know that your in the right place..... I am quite sure I will be here often. Think of it as a natural medicine shoppe. An herbalist has created medicinal blends of teas and herbs to help the body heal. I love that the blends are clearly marked for condition. So, if you have issues with cholesterol, hypertension, or even if you just want bigger boobs (the bustin out mix), there is a blend for you! I was able to try the fresh royal jelly here as well. The staff member says it tastes like cum (this is what she says--true story) so I HAD to try some before I left the store.
