The app sampler really opened my eyes beyond the hummus standard and paired well with the complimentary bread basket but even better with the entree when it arrived. The mixed plate was next level, with all the meats juicy and full of flavor. My personal favorite was the chicken shish kebab. I will definitely be going back regularly, and it's going to be difficult to order anything else.

I brought a family member for their first visit, excited to get some of their favorite type of food. Unfortunately, we both left extremely disappointed. The bread was served cold, the vegetable casserole tasted like frozen vegetables mixed with basic marinara sauce, and the chicken was practically inedible- tough, dry, and overcooked. The service was equally disappointing. Our server barely checked on us throughout the meal, even toward the end. When I explained how much better my experiences had been at the Helotes location, there was little acknowledgment or effort to make things right beyond offering to potentially remake the chicken. The only highlight was the muhammara dip, which was good and the sole reason for my one-star rating. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and it is disappointing to see such a drastic difference in quality from a local restaurant I previously enjoyed and recommended.

Zaatar Lebanese Grill is where we go when we don't feel like cooking, or if my mom is out of town. Located in the Silk Road Heritage District this place is serving up delicious Lebanese staples all day long. Grab an ice cold rose tea and some hummus bi lahme, hot pita bread, and a dish of your choice. Just make sure it comes with their homemade thin-sliced fries. They're next level if you like your fries crispy. Our kids love it here, so it's a no-brainer for family dinners but they also have a great lunch menu with curated bowls that are healthy and satisfying.

Both were tasty and were very similar in taste from our recent visit to Turkey. Lots of flavor going on at the same time and I have developed such a taste for the traditional rice. Light and flaky. I believe the owners are Arabic, but not actually Lebanese. Although we have traveled to the middle east, but not to Lebanon, I cannot say for certain if it is authentic or not. What I can say is the food was delicious and definitely used some of the same spices we are familiar with. The inside dining was for smaller parties of less than 6, and fit our needs on this visit.

My boyfriend and I both got the lamb shank with rice, and I love lamb, and this one was so tender and super flavorful. I really enjoy supporting family-owned local businesses, and this place is one of those spots that…read moredeserves encouragement. It's a combination restaurant in the front and small market at the back, which gives it a warm, community feel. From the outside, the building looks a bit run down, so if you're coming purely for ambiance, just know the real highlight here is the food and the service. If you're looking for delicious Afghan comfort food, you should definitely give their Qabuli Palau a try - or order it for takeout. The Qabuli Palau was excellent. The shank meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone - flavorful and hearty. Service was warm and welcoming. You can tell it's family-run, and that personal touch really shows. There is a restroom available for customers (I didn't personally use it, so I can't comment on that). The space overall could use a little facelift, but the food makes it worth the visit. My total came out to $36.51 for 2 dishes, a hot tea, and a small chocolate bar. After reviewing the itemized receipt (with San Antonio sales tax at 8.25%), the math didn't quite line up with the posted prices. One small piece of constructive feedback: the menu pricing appears to be outdated, and it might be helpful for the owner to update the menu or clarify pricing so it doesn't accidentally cause confusion or trouble down the road. I'm sharing this because I'd hate to see a hardworking family business run into avoidable issues. Overall, the food and hospitality were the highlights for me. Don't judge it by the exterior - just come for the Qabuli Palau and the welcoming service.

We ordered an order of tradicional hummus for the table. It was presented almost as art along with two large pieces of naan. So tasty! We ordered the beef kabob plate, chicken shawarma plate, and a chicken kabob plate. They come with a salad on the plate, some have hummus as the shawarma plate does. I ordered a side of basmati rice. So good. All the food was exceptional. The naan warm and soft. The portions are very generous. Each of us took half of our food to go. The server even gave a separate container for my rice. Nice touch. Each of us were given a to go box and a plastic bag. Refills were constantly kept up with. Anytime a soda looked a couple of inches low, it was topped off. Go there. From here we went across the parking lot to their Baklovah Bakery.

I decided finally on the gheimeh bademjan (meat and eggplant stew). The flavours were very nice, the meat was tender, and the eggplant was silky soft. The waiter made a valiant effort at our table, but my friend does not hear well, he was soft spoken, and the restaurant is full of hard surfaces and therefore noisy. I will likely go again when in San Antonio, but not with a group or friend i wanted to visit with and talk to a lot during the meal.

Is this the best restaurant in San Antonio?…read more I think so, and you'll probably be asking yourself that after trying it, too. Whatever you order - trust that it's made with more love than anything you've eaten in months. The lamb shank with prunes is nothing short of incredible. The hot jasmine tea: superb. The desserts: mind. Blowing. Every dish and every dessert is incredible and a joy to eat. Warm, welcoming, and the ladies that run it always treat you like family. If you haven't yet, come here and try it all. You can thank me later.

Our Spanish explorer blood has inspired us to visit all 7 continents and numerous countries in our…read moretravels. This winter we are headed to Morocco, in Northern Africa, among other places. So it was our desire to get familiar with the cuisine, prior to the trip. Moroccan Bites was our choice and we couldn't have been happier we found it. The owner's daughter was our server and since she is from Marrakech, we took her suggestions on what to order. Not only was she extremely friendly, she took the time to prepare us for the culture we are about to experience and provided much needed help. For our meal, we went with an eggplant app and wifey and I ordered the Lamb couscous plus the Chicken Pastilla to share. The couscous meal was loaded with veggies, lamb and of course, couscous. The flavors were delicate and not overpowering at all. The Chicken Pastilla dish can pass for a desert with the cinnamon and powder sugar on top of a light pastry, just like a pie. It was my favorite entree of the night. Don't forget to try the mint tea. It's served hot and sweet and might actually give my Texas ice tea addiction a little competition. You shouldn't travel to a foreign land without trying their dessert options, or even travel across town as it was in our case. The glass display case caught our attention immediately, even before we sat down to look at the menu. We couldn't decide on what sweets to try, so we compromised and ordered several different kind of things. From the lemon cake to the Baklava, it was all very delicious. The Baklava is French like in its flaky texture and light enough to put down half a tray if given the chance. The inside of the restaurant is clean, has ample tables and is decorated in the country's cultural theme. Well, Moroccan Bites, thanks for a great meal and you have raised our expectations on what we are about to go through.
