I took 3 of my students here for a 5th grade graduation. They all got box braids, as well as manicures and pedicures. They had a great time and kept going to the mirror to check themselves out. My family and I came in from Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Barcelona to have a nice little three-day gathering. My dad found Simple Wellness and booked us all hour-long massages two days in a row. We came to Baltimore a tense on-edge family and we left relaxed, happy, and loving each other. Between Latosha's strong magic fingers and Toni's fantastic recommendations for amazingly delicious food, this place is a treasure trove. I wasn't sure what to expect because normally we get massages in the hotels, but we had to travel to this local little gem. It was a quick 20 minute walk from the Hilton (or a 5 minute Uber). Walking down the stairs I was immediately greeted by all the women (even customers!). It was such a friendly welcoming atmosphere. It was not the hushed awkwardness of a traditional spa, as there were several women getting their hair done when I arrived. I was offered a drink and a seat to wait for my massage. Very close to my appointment time Latosha came out to gather me. She had a soft gentle way about her, a contrast to the boisterous laughter I was enjoying during my wait. I was a little concerned that the sound would travel, but the massage room was a quiet oasis with only the dulcet sounds of waves and flutes as Latosha got to work. I had a full body massage with hot stones, and as a lawyer in NYC she had her work cut out for her. But I truly felt the tension drain from my body so that when she was done I felt lighter and happier. And when I walked back out into the poppin salon, I was immediately greeted (softly) and asked how I enjoyed my massage. The whole experience was amazing. And even if you don't need any of the salon or spa services offered by Simple Wellness, I suggest you stop in and say hi anyway. Ask for Toni and she will just wow you will suggestions of restaurants to eat at and places to go. My dad and I tried one of her suggestions on the first day and I've never eaten so well. My husband and I came here just after our wedding for much needed relaxation. We both got massages, but it was much more than that. The staff was friendly, laidback and welcoming - it was everything we needed to unwind and feel at ease! They use very natural incense and oils that do not irritate the sinuses. This review is for the pedicure only. Simple Wellness is a charming little salon in Mount Vernon. While they specialize in Natural Hair Care and Braiding, I go there to get my nails done. Why? One word: JOYCE. The woman takes exceptional care of your hands and feet. For my money she gives THE BEST PEDICURE in Baltimore. Expect to spend ~ 2 hours there getting your feet done. My daughter had shampoo, deep condition, and two-strand twist styling from Zerica, mani/pedi from Natalie. All were amazing. They find out what you need and what will work for you. Ed, Ed, and Ed; all day, Ed. I know my last review was a love letter to Natalie, and this updated one is for the magic masseur who made my birthday truly the stuff of dreams by helping me unravel some serious shoulder knots and helping me RELAX. Ed is truly a professional, and I felt respected and safe throughout the entire process, and the best part was/is, he didn't beat me up while getting out all those little kinks. Sometimes I leave a massage feeling as I went through the wringer, but not with Ed. And yet I still feel refreshed and tension-less afterwards. I told him about that at the end, and he laughed when he said, "Those people beating you up shouldn't be giving massages... it's not a fight, it's a dance." And with that, he sold me for a lifetime of massages by Ed. He is really something else! The oils he used were light and non-sticky (I so appreciated that!) and the room was warm and had good ambiance music. I really had to do very little to get into a zen state of mind. I was thoroughly impressed. Simple Wellness looks like a funky version of your best friend's living room, but, man, it takes pampering to another level. The fabulous Toni has done my hair once and the owner Angela is absolute fire with handling her business! I am extremely happy to have gotten to know these ladies better over the past year or so. They will take care of you from the inside out, because that's really where good health comes from! I got a massage here a couple of months ago. Really enjoyed the 60 minute back massage, the atmosphere, the aromatherapy, the wonderful energy you get when you walk in! Winter and stress had me down and the massage was soooooo good! Almost fell asleep lol. Removed all the tension and soreness out of my back. The massage itself was so relaxing, yet detailed to the problem areas we talked about beforehand. I left feeling reenergized! 10/10 will definitely be back and recommend. The massage therapist is a miracle worker. I came in with a strained left trapezius muscle that was causing me to not feel half of my hand and by the time she was finished I had feeling in my whole hand. Her hands are like guided missiles that are locked in on all the troubled areas and by the time she is finished those areas are no more. I was in so much pain and by the time the massage was over it was almost as if I was melted onto the table. I highly recommend the massage therapy services for those that are in any type of physical discomfort and for those that just want to pamper themselves all I can say is you'll thank me later after your heavenly experience!!!!! read more

The Most Relaxing Massage Ever!! My massage therapist, Latosha, was amazing!!! I had a 60- minute aromatherapy massage and the entire experience was relaxing from start to finish. She asked what areas, if any, were ailing me and focused on trouble spots. She was patient and allowed me to lay there for a couple minutes after the massage was over to slowly get myself up and back together. I appreciated the friendliness of the entire staff and the welcoming atmosphere. I have definitely found a day spa to meet all of my needs and can't wait to try their other services, like nails, waxing, and facials. On Saturday January 9th 2021 I was enjoying a deep conditioning treatment and haircut by stylist Toni Poole at Simple Wellness. Toni is an amazing stylist and I have been with her for close to 10 years if not more. The massage therapist for Simple Wellness named Ellaina Johnson, was offering free hand massage samples to clients and I accepted it for my left hand because I had injured my right hand doing a work out a few weeks ago. The salon owner Angela Hardy mentioned that the hand massage may help my injured right hand. I explained to Ellaina Johnson the sore areas of my hand and how I injured it and we agreed that we would proceed cautiously and she even gave me a safe word to use if I needed her to stop or change what she was doing. The hand massage caused me to relax to a level that I had not imagined possible from a hand massage and it helped my right hand feel better by reducing the pain and increasing the range of motion. I enjoyed the hand massage so much that same day I ended up getting a two-hour massage that included hot stones and a piriformis release. The massage was incredible! Words cannot begin to describe how relaxed I felt as well as how much better my lower back and tight piriformis felt. She encouraged me to go home and take a hot soak. My Epsom salt bath intensified the benefits and euphoric feelings of the massage and piriformis release that Ellaina did. I look forward to enjoying the works of Ellaina Johnson on a monthly basis and as often as needed since I work out on a regular and I'm trying to age gracefully being healthier and stronger each day than I was the day before. read more

I decided to get Sisterlocks, but wanted to talk to consultants. My hair had been chemically treated for 30 years. Due to health issues and medication the chemicals became too much for my hair. My hair used to be half way down my back and my signature trait besides my smile. I saw one consultant that gave me a price and a little information. When it was time to go to this spa for a consultation I wasn't feeling it at all. As soon as I walked through the door the negative energy got blown right out of me. I felt at peace and I was warmly greeted by Angela. She took her time explaining Sisterlocks and gave me more information than any other consultant. She also informed me she is a Trichologist so I knew my hair would be in good hands as well as a chance of restoring back to the way it had been. I got my locs in June 2017 and it is now September 2017. My hair is growing more fuller and longer. My missing edges are growing back in as well. When I say Angela is a miracle worker and knows what she is doing I mean that. I love my hair to pieces now and I touch it a lot. I never did that with the chemicals. I feel beautiful inside and out now. If you want a spiritual and physical transformation pleas visit this shop. So serene. Unlike other stylists she will not talk about you behind your back. This is a no gossip zone and feels so much more relaxed. They also provide other services besides natural hair care and hair loss. They give massages, do nails, sale accessories, and etc. If you haven't been there please check them out. They even offer complementary wine, but I can't drink because of health issues. I walk by this place all the time, and after desperately needing a haircut for a month, I finally decided to make an appointment. When I walked in, everyone was friendly. The customers who were there seemed to know the stylists well, so there was a very low-key vibe. The football game was on, which was a pleasant surprise. I got my hair cut about 2 inches with some layers, and the stylist definitely took her time to do it well. Then she spent 10 minutes blowing my hair out with a round brush, which I could immediately tell she didn't have much experience with. All of this was fine, but then came the final bill of $50. I was shocked, as a haircut is listed as $25+. I thought it would end up at maybe $30 or $35 at the most, but $50? I asked why the cut was so much-- her explanation was that cuts simply start at $25, plus there was the styling. The cut itself was good, but the "styling"? My hair was still damp and curly from the "blowout"! I thought she was just drying it so I didn't walk out with wet hair. I even had to put my own part in my hair, and thank god I had a headband with me, because otherwise I would have been embarrassed to walk out. This especially made me mad because my appointment was only for a cut, and I did not ask for any extra styling, so then to charge me $25 for the extra ten minutes was infuriating. The location is super convenient, and the cut was good, but being charged double what I expected left a bitter taste in my mouth. I don't mind spending $50 for a haircut, but then I expect more. I will not be returning to Simple Wellness. read more

First off, the staff at this place are always super welcoming and very upbeat and friendly! I've only come for massage but let me tell you the massages here are some of the best I've ever experienced! Chrissy and Ed are both exceptional message therapists and will listen to what you want and what you need. If you ask for a relaxing massage you'll get it, if you ask for some serious pressure to work through some knots then you'll get it. They do both hour long massages as well as 10-20 minute chair massages. I can't really comment on any other services offered here (just because I've never used them) but if you want a massage in Baltimore City then this is the place to go! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Simple Wellness Day Spa! The first highlight is that it is black owned and operated. They were able to schedule me last minute (the morning of) for a 90 minute massage. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a cup of cold water and given a comfortable chair to sit in while doing my intake papers. After a short time, they escorted me to the back and my masseuse, Latosha, asked me my focus areas, my aromatherapy preferences, and anything else I needed to share with her. The room I approached had dim and relaxing lighting along with ocean sounds and calming music. After undressing to my preference, I had to ring a bell to let the masseuse know that I was ready for her to come back in. She used gradual pressure during my massage and was receptive to all feedback. I loved having the grapefruit essential oil along with the hot stones on my feet and calves, that needed extra attention. The hot towels soaked in epsom salt were a perfect touch on my sore muscles and really took the massage up a notch! I was amazed that each of these amenities were INCLUDED in the massage and not add-ons. Upon leaving, I had an easy check out and payment process. All of this for $140, was amazing! My boyfriend was sweet enough to buy me vouchers for a spa day and I found this hidden gem down the street from where i live. I booked a pedicure, facial, and massage with them and boy was i impressed!! Nemi was incredibly well informed, well rounded, and attentive with her service. She is an absolute gem and taught me a lot that i needed to learn about skin care and seasonal skin like mine. Thank you Nemi for such a special and wonderful experience. Next up was my massage with Ed. An incredibly skilled and attentive massage therapist, Ed made the experience wonderful. I learned during my massage of how wonderful the owner of the salon was and that she had given him his first break...something he will forever be loyal to her for. I really, really, really wanted to love this place, especially based on the reviews. However, my message was not good. It started off really weak when I had asked for pressure to relieve the knots on my upper back and shoulders. I had to request more pressure a couple of times and though the pressure was better, there was little done to focus on the knots. So I left feeling a little better but largely the same. Perhaps I had bad luck, but I don't foresee returning, unfortunately. read more
