Hello Everyone, I cannot recommend Simple Stitches enough!!! I flew in from San Francisco to Chicago, and drove to Rockford, IL in the morning to attend a Wedding Rehearsal & Dinner & Wedding (the following day). I bought a dress last minute, the day prior to my flight, and I could only zip up mid scapular region of my back. Despite all my methods to zip this beautiful dress, I could not. I knew I was going to need this dress to be tailored. The only issue was I needed a VERY fast turn around time, as I needed this dress to be ready by 4 PM the same day! I called about 10 minutes after they opened, explained my situation, and was asked to come in. Immediately I was greeting by the friendly faces working there! They took a look at my dress and gave me a solution. The prices & rush fee were EXTREMELY REASONABLE!!! My dress was done within 1 hour of me dropping it off. And I felt like a princess!! They did such an amazing job, and I would not hesitate to fly all the way from California to Rockford, IL to get any of my clothes tailored. That's how amazing the service was. I received so many compliments on my dress (a House of CB dress), and the alterations made only further enhanced the beauty of this dress. If you are in need of alterations, I beseech you, GO TO SIMPLE STITCHES!!!! Oh, and by the way, if I want to remove the alteration, I can do so without any damage to the dress! And if I don't it is sturdy that it can stay as a permanent alteration to the dress! I wore this dress pretty much from 4 PM to Midnight, and it held up, perfectly! read more

Simple Stitches was established in 2018 by Paige Raupp. We are a custom tailoring and design shop, offering assistance with all things sewing. We opened our first storefront in March 2024 and are proud to be a part of the Rockford community.

However, the last two times I have gone have been a nightmare. Before even seeing the garment I was told that it was take over a week to hem a jumpsuit. This was an outfit I needed sooner than that so I just returned it instead. I recently went in to have a dress altered and before even showing the gentleman the dress, I was told it would be at least two weeks before they could get it done. While that would've been fine because I didn't need the dress right away, the tone and disinterest in my service was already frustrating. I continued to show my dress and explain what I wanted done. Shorten the straps, take in the waist, and hem the length. While I know that is a good amount of work, the dress is not lined and has spaghetti straps, so definitely not the most complicated garment they have had to alter. I was quoted $85 for a dress that I spent $40 on! Absolutely not! Not only was the man rude, but that price seemed a little high. I took my dress to a cleaner In Sycamore instead where the woman was an absolute delight. She had me try the dress on, pinned it until it was perfect, gave me a couple small discounts and then quoted me. For all of the work listed above, I paid $40 and the dress was done in a week, probably could have been sooner if I needed it. When I picked it up the dress looked great, exactly how I hoped it would and they even pressed it for me. V.I.P cleaners made it clear that they did not value my business, they must be far too busy with more important things. I will not be back as I will be visiting my new "place" in Sycamore from now on.

I went out to my car to bring a bag out. What I saw him do made me question getting my laundry. The man was circling inside the laundromat looking for me. He kicked a chair in frustration. He kept asking for my phone. Ladies, your keys are a weapon, your phone is a weapon, carry pepper spray, protect yourself. It wasn't Martha there. Simple Stitches repaired a pile of clothes for me that had actual or sentimental value. Mostly zipper replacements and tears and gigantic holes. The results were so professional and the pricing was fair. They are the real deal, professional work. The attendants were so friendly and helpful! Offers repairs, modifications, and costume creation. If you have a situation that needs help in this area, I would just present your item and ask what could be done. read more
