It is such a cool concept idea as 2 of the locations are small drive thru, like a backyard shed size. I was confused trying to find it at first because looking it up I didn't see what it would look like. The options for drinks are as endless as if you walked in to a coffee shop and they even have some breakfast food and bakery items on certain days. I pulled up 20 min to closing and was a little worried but I'm so grateful they weren't cleaning and closing everything up yet. The employee was the sweetest and made my drink super quick. I was not expecting a tiny hut but wow, hard working employees with 2 long lines on each side. Decently expensive drink menu with monthly drink specials including a seasonal "fizz"- their take on an energy drink. This month (September 2023) is apple orchard fizz- super bubbly and sweet with a hint of cinnamon. I ordered a medium caramel latte with almond milk- needs a little sugar but it's overall refreshing. Love this place! So excited that they are putting up a new hut on the west end as well. This place is easy to access...simply drive up to the window! I had struggled with writing this review, i stopped by here just before Christmas on my way to Waterloo for some present shopping and got a cup of coffee as a recommendation from a friend who knows the owners. I didn't really enjoy it, but to be fair I came back a second time when I was working this week to give it another go. This is a different kind of coffee shop. It's a small shed basically with windows on opposite sides. You can pull in on either side. Grab a coffee and drive off without ever turning the car off. It's a common setup in other states. But I only know of a few of them in the central NY area. First off, The coffee itself I think I'd like a lot more with a little bit of control. I like it to be a certain color. Prefer whole milk to cream and just enough sugar to cut the bitterness depending on where the coffee is from. Places like this take away all the control. And I'm not incredibly fond of that. The flavors of the roast are very good in themselves. And I'd probably like it more if I just bought a bag of coffee and ground it and made it myself. Both times I've been here. My coffee was just not made right. I told light whole milk and a bit of sugar. When I got the coffee and removed the lid. The color was very light. Which means either way to much milk or creamer was used. Which would be fine if I knew that's all they had. But I know it isn't. I'm fairly certain the girls were new as they were asking questions as they went along and so on so I can't fault them for that. But I really think for me I'm just better off somewhere I have more control. All in all I'm impressed with the flavors of the roast. They are very diverse and subtle and it doesn't sour incredibly fast when it cools down. I will still get coffee from here as it's fairly priced and quick. Plus with the coffee club membership they offer. You can get free coffee after 10 cups. Not everyone does that, so when in auburn instead of getting Dunkin and not enjoying that. I can get a quality roast and enjoy it more. read more

I've always told Dave that Central New York needs espresso shacks. These lovely sheds or trailers with a drive up on either end doling out great espresso (and in this case coffee) are prominent in the Pacific Northwest. The big boys out there are Dutch Bros (oh how I love them) but there are scores of mom and pop shops. Imagine how excited I was when we pulled up and this little green shack was waiting for us! These are wonderful for when the weather is gross and you don't want to get out of your car. I find regular drive thru coffee to be too impersonal but in these cases you order at the window, wait for them to complete your order, and have it handed right off to you. It's similar enough to the café experience for me. It was a fairly busy Saturday morning so we had to wait a few minutes before we got to the window where we were met by a friendly face. Our barista answered the questions I had about my order and helped me get exactly what I wanted. In Starbucks land it would have been a grande double dirty chai tea latte, here it was a medium electric chai, in layman's terms two shots of espresso added into a chai tea latte. This was one of the better dirty/electric chai's I have had. The chai was not overly sweet or spiced and did not fight at all with the espresso. The milk was foamed perfectly and it was the perfect example of a fall beverage. With winter weather coming I'm afraid it may be a while before we make it back to Auburn but I know where we are stopping for coffee (or tea) when we get there! read more

Simple Roast is quite possibly the best brew I've ever had on this side of the planet. I was first introduced to their coffee by my best friend who is lucky enough to live in the vicinity of a Simple Roast kiosk. For two weeks straight of my planning to visit her, she continued to rave about Simple Roast and their coffee; with this kind of recommendation, of course I had to stop by and gave their coffee a try. Simple Roast is not a full cafe. It's a kiosk located in a parking lot manned by two. The menu includes basic variations of coffee, basic variations of tea, plus smoothie and a few pastries. Nothing too fancy. The price is also pretty basic; $2 for a 12oz coffee, $2.50 for a 16oz, and $3 for a 20oz. That brew though is pretty special; enough that the line of cars willing to wait for their cup of java can sometimes wrap the kiosk twice over. I'm a slow coffee drinker, especially when I drive. My first cup of Simple Roast was a 20oz, which normally would have lasted me the two hour plus drive back to Buffalo. That first cup was gone within less than an hour, and for the rest of the drive, I wish I had gotten a second cup. For every trip back from Auburn since, I have known better and have gotten myself a second cup of Simple Roast. But. If there's a way to get a third and fourth cup and more to save for the next day and the day after, and the day after that, I would happily do so in a heartbeat. If you're ever in their area and are a java lover, do yourself a favor and give Simple Roast a shot. PS: Simple Roast uses paper straw, which disintegrates over time. Came up to NY to visit a friend and they told me of this cute little coffee shop. We approached a small green looking shed in the middle of a parking lot standing all on its own. On both sides you could order, so the line is never too long and it's drive thru only. Their drinks are great- monthly specials where you can order different flavors or even participate in their donations to things like the SPCA. I always order the specialty drinks on their menu. I went today for the first time in a while since Starbucks came to town, ordered a specialty latte they had listed, and nearly passed out when they told me my total. $6.75. $6.75!!!!!! What!!! I didn't make my own concoction, I ordered one of theirs! I cannot imagine in any universe where I'd knowingly choose to spend $6.75 on a coffee. I am so disappointed. My sister lives in Auburn and our usual coffee run was to Wegmans- where coffee was okay and service was usually quite slow.
