I need to start by saying I'm ashamed that yesterday was my first visit to this amazing spot, as I've lived in Lincoln for 27 years. My daughter and I both got the High Roller sandwich with fries (turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce and heirloom tomatoes). It was so big I could barely wrap my mouth around it and, so good! I recently tried Simply Pleasures and had a bit of a mixed experience. The club sandwich was absolutely amazing, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. It's definitely something I would order again. However, I was pretty disappointed with the fruit that came with it. The portion was extremely smal. It looked like the fruit was only about a quarter to maybe half of what I expected. For the price and overall presentation, I expected a more reasonable serving. I have unfortunately overlooked this place as a truly great spot for a good quality breakfast or lunch. For some reason having been only once before it hasn't been on my radar. That's now changed. Coming for breakfast after a meeting I found the atmosphere cozy and inviting. Located in one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, buildings in Lincoln it has a certain charm to it. Quickly greeted with a smile and seated, a menu came right away. There are quite a number of choices and many are standard breakfast fare with some unique standouts too. I opted for Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes with sausage. Of course coffee too. Staff is very friendly, courteous and very engaging. You can tell this is a family type establishment where people care and work hard for a good experience and meal. So, the pancakes were awesome! The flavors melted so well together and along with the sausage, a bit of butter and maple syrup, I was a happy camper. It came with two eggs I had 'over easy' and were equally well prepared. Coffee was good and got refills. My dining companion had the French Toast and enjoyed it too. They mentioned being closed for a period during the holidays into the beginning of January so check the opening times. This is a charming, satisfying place and I am definitely going back. read more

Simple Pleasures is my favorite breakfast/lunch spot in Lincoln. It is like Cheers where everyone knows your name. Super friendly and food is delicious. Some of my favorites are chorizo breakfast burrito; blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes and cannoli oatmeal. Bonus is the yummy Mexican mocha (hot or cold). Service is great! What a great, small town feel full of regulars and visitors and simple, tasty, fresh food. I had an omelette, potatoes and bread. Such a cute, hometown feel little place. Right when we walked in I felt welcomed and could tell that there were lots of regulars that loved this place as well. My husband and I came in on a week day with our 2 toddlers. Luckily there was a table in the back and they have high chairs as well. Here's what we ordered: Vanilla latte w/almond milk: absolutely delicious and much needed pick me up Avocado toast: was good, not my favorite because it had orange zest and lots of sirracha. This was a solid spot we ate for lunch yesterday in downtown Lincoln. Pretty cool location that seems it has been here for years that has seating inside and outside in the back. Service was a 5 star for sure and everyone that works here was super friendly and nice as well as very attentive. Food was also very solid. It wasn't over the top but what we ordered was executed and done very well. My salad that I had was the nutty Irishmen which was mixed greens, feta cheese, candied pecans and dried cranberries with added chicken. My wife had a BLT with added turkey. This cafe has a very inviting, casual and homey atmosphere. We have been there several times and had breakfast and lunch menu items. Which all were outstanding. One morning I had the fresh "Blueberry and Ricotta Cheese Pancakes" absolutely outstanding and then the next time I had the 5th Avenue Burger** 1/2lb burger made with a blend of ground brisket & ground chuck topped with cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & thousand island dressing on a toasted bun. So we were greeted immediately; told we could sit anywhere we like. Nice! Our server delivered our coffee and asked if we were ready to order.... I said I had a question. I asked which is more popular, the ricotta and berry pancakes with sausage or the biscuits and gravy. She said hold on, I'll be right back. The server disappeared momentarily and returned with a sample of gravy! Wow! What service. The gravy was good, but since I tried it I decided to go with the pancakes... After getting off a late-night shift at Beale Air Force Base, I was starving. A quick Google search led me to Simple Pleasures, and I'm so glad it did. When I arrived, I was greeted with huge smiles--even at 7:00 in the morning! The service was impeccable, and the food was even better. Had some out of town guests who discovered Simple Pleasures while wandering around downtown Lincoln. They came back raving about the freshness and tastiness of their lunch. They liked it so much they returned twice more during their short visit. We figured we should go see what they were talking about. Went for lunch and were immediately greeted by a friendly young lady. The menu offered a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. We each chose to go with a 1/2 soup and sandwich combo. Both 1/2 sandwiches were enough on their own and my 1/2 belt was on fresh wheat bread. The soup was a spicy Mexican tortilla soup which was both delicious and filling. To add a little crunch they served it with tortilla chips on the side. Prices were reasonable, the service was friendly and attentive. Ok last time, had the steak salad. Steak was actually rare like I asked for. 9 out of 10 places can't seem to do that. Today for me it was omelette with potatoes. My wife had veggie sandwich with potato salad. The sandwich was SUPER fresh. Sprouts were so good she said. Potato salad was extremely good. They actually sell it by the GALLON. Or quarter. We learned it from the owner who stopped by to say hello. Ok, the omelette is "pick three items and your cheese. Want more stuff, .50 each per item. Holy moly I hit the mother lode. Ham, mushrooms and Swiss. Everything was actually cooked. Not every place knows how to do that. The potatoes were a melody of small colored potatoes, cut in half and diced red peppers and onions plus spices. Oh my goodness, what goodness. The owner showed us where all the seating was and they try hard to recognize people and make them feel like family. Two waitresses, Kelly and Isabella recognized us after coming just once previously. Knew where we sat. Mind blown. Taste buds delighted. Wallet treated kindly. 5 stars not enough to recognize this place. Now my ABSOLUTE favorite breakfast/lunch place this side of San Francisco. Always good. Never disappoints when we come here. The place is always clean, the service is always excellent and always a homey and friendly vibe. The apple pie is the best. Coffee is good. We love the breakfasts we've tried thus far. We have not had a chance to try a lot of their lunches yet, but the one sandwich and salad I've tried so far was delicious. I went here for lunch with a friend and I will definitely be back. I ordered an iced coffee which was delicious and I ordered a sandwich, and fries. I was going to order the half sandwich and soup but they were already sold out of soup which is a good sign that this place is good. My sandwich was oven roasted Turkey, bacon, cheese and the toppings. The sandwich was so big I only ate half. The fries were hot and fresh and yummy! They were so good I forgot to snap a photo. I really like this place. Nice area of town, great food, great services and reasonable prices. I ordered the "Missy Melt" half sandwich with soup and salad extras. The total price was about $15.00 which was excellent. It had a stack of thinly sliced ham and turkey that was about an inch and a quarter thick. I just want to start out by saying staff was so incredibly nice, nothing negative to say there, however, I can say we were a bit disappointed with the food, we got a steak sandwich and avocado toast with a side of potato's, there was a piece of hair in the avocado toast, the steak sandwich was 95% fat, I had to take the steak out and cut all the fat off and was left with a small piece of meat for a huge piece of bread.
