OMG - I found a new electrician! It is after 11:00pm and my wired smoke alarm would not stop chirping. If you have a dog, you know that this is unacceptable. I know nothing about electrical issues so I had to call the emergency line. Let's talk about what I expected this to cost!! I spoke with someone who walked me through disconnecting the alarm. He offered to come tonight but it would cost more money. I am so thankful for his help. I will call back in the morning to get on their schedule to replace the alarm - - apparently when the electricity went out yesterday, it surged and is now broken. Simon Electric - If you are in need a an electrician DO NOT CALL THESE IDIOTS. I recently called them to fix an outdoor outlet; after having installed two new GFI's and covers when they left I had discovered my pool light no longer worked. Since one of the outlets was being fed through the box that houses the pump and pool light switches, and they were working inside that box, I came to the conclusion they rewired something wrong. When I called to tell them they needed to come back and fix their error, the woman that answers their phones was incredibly rude, and although she herself had not been here, proceeded to tell me they did everything correct. They came out 2 days later, and proceeded to tell me the pool light never worked (which is a lie, because I am the one that showed them what the 2 switches inside the pool box activated). They then said everything was wired correctly, and the bulb must be burned out. I knew that was not the case. After 2 and 1/2 hours of them working in the box, these knuckleheads figured out the transformer that feeds the pool light only had the neutral hooked up to it, not the hot (120 V), so with no power feeding the light no wonder it no longer worked. Once they re-attached the hot line miraculously the light worked. Total lack of professionalism, rude customer service, and incompetent electricians; if you need an electrician, take my advice and call anyone but Simon Electric. read more

I used Simon Electric in 2019 - they did a great job and were awesome to work with. I tried them again in 2023 and would never go back. They came to the house and I showed them all the things that I wanted completed. Stacey (what a gem - in a good way!) suggested I buy the outdoor fan and exhaust before my appointment so they could install in the event it was the fans that were not working. The workers started to do the work and all of the sudden the power to my office went off. They apparently were at the circuit breaker and was not paying attention to what power needed to be turned off. Anyway, they turned the power to my office back on and everything was working but the light in the room (it is connected to a fan and it was working). So I asked them to take a look at it too and after they did, they indicated that they couldn't fix it. I explained it was not broken until they came to the house. Just received correspondence from Stacey who indicated if Simon Electric come back to the house, I would be charged $190 plus I have to buy a new light fixture. I just don't understand - the light was working before they came to the house, they do something at the circuit breaker while doing the work I asked and now the light does not work but "I" have to incur an additional charge? Words of advice - save yourself any additional money and just don't have them come your house. read more

I had a tankless water heater installed on a Monday by a professional plumber. On Tuesday, the next day, Simon Electric came to hook up the electrical. Danny and Antwane were able to get the heater operational after confronting a challenge to run wires by having to drill through 2 pieces of lumber at the electrical panel. I couldn't have been more impressed! This is the third time I have used Simon Electric for tasks that only a professional can handle. This business is tops in my book! read more

I decided to get an estimate for a small electrical job at my house, even though they have a policy of charging $225 just for coming out to the house. If I decided to use them it would be applied towards the job. The estimate was exorbitant and I paid them the $225, even though I felt it was unfair. The two men that came out were at my house for a total of 10 minutes and then spoke to a supervisor on the phone for another 10 minutes. When I made it clear that that estimate was way too high I was told that it was a "diagnosis " and not an estimate. This was not a "diagnosis" since there was nothing wrong with my electrical system. There was nothing to diagnose. I was getting a price on a new installation. They seem to play games with the words "diagnosis" and "estimate" of a project. read more

So my son owns a Chevy Volt. We needed a 240v circuit installed in the garage. Ordered through Home Advisor.They came out and installed a 110v circuit--STRIKE ONE! Came back out saying they misunderstood and installed a 240v circuit--but installed a 30amp when only a 20 amp was needed (THE CAR WAS SITTING RIGHT THERE!! CHECK WHAT YOUR DOING FOR GODS SAKE!--AND they charged us again for their mistake STRIKE TWO! Called the owner and "I" had to explain how wrong THEY were. He agreed to come out and make the appropriate changes. 9AM last Friday. At 9:30AM I called Home Advisor to explain that no one showed. Don't Use This Company - Their Dishonest! I tried replacing a light switch, and had a problem identifying the correct wires once the switchbox was open. I Called, & was told this would be a basic service call $125.00 When the man arrived, I explained the problem, several times. He proceeded to investigate and told me there was a major wiring problem. He then told me he was fixing an adjacent switch I didn't ask him to fix, and he wouldn't charge me for it. Then went outside of my home, and told me one of my outside floodlights was bad and I had to replace 2 floodlight housings. I only had him reinstall the light switch for which I had called. I did not have the outside lights repaired. He charged $250.00 for the switch repair. I later replaced the outside floodlight bulb, with a new bulb, and it works just fine. read more

I called Simon when I needed a new box and fixture installed in a bathroom that was being remodeled. Whoever answered the call, I do not remember her name, was great. Knew what she was talking about and quoted the job accurately and gave accurate information. The guys came in knew exactly what had to be done and did a great job. Not only did they do what needed to be done, they came back once the wall repairs were made by contractor and installed the fixture. They came immediately. This review is a little late as this was a few months back. However, when I called recently to have an outlet installed on a wall that was adjacent to a wall that had an outlet. My construction was complete, but I realized that room had no outlet to be able to redesign the room for another purpose. They sent Bernard who was supposed to arrive by 10 AM, called and said by 12PM, then 2PM, did not show until 4 PM and didn't seem to want to be bothered doing the job. I was annoyed, needless to say. My building only allows workers up to 5 PM. He started making excuses as how hard it would be, but that was only after he said it couldn't be done because there was no other outlet (which there is one on the adjacent wall where TV is) and he wouldn't be able to fix the hole in the wall (which they told me on the phone they would, but not be able to paint). His partner started to tell him a better way of doing the job and he turned around and told him to be quiet! The poor guy looked affronted. And then I was more annoyed because I wanted to hear what his opinion was. So apparently it could have been done, he just didn't want to be bothered. He was tired and must have been a long day for him. But they should have called me and said they could come another day instead of making me wait all day to only not have lost a days pay but not to even get done what I wanted. Over all, I think these guys are real good. But this was the second time with this guy who seems to know what he is doing but really doesn't want to work. We hired Simon Electric through Home Depot. They had to cancel our scheduled date, be we rescheduled this Saturday at 9.30 am. The woman that called us when we had to rescheduled was very curtious, and straight forward. She was able to accomodate us and work with our schedule. We felt comfortable with her and the company. The two workers came here at 9:30 am; I did not get their names but they couldnt have been more courteous or nicer. It may have taken them close to 3 hours to install 5 fans, but it would have taken us 3 months and may have caused one of us to jump off a bridge in despair; If you have ever looked at the parts you have to put together with ceiling fans, it is a nightmare. Ikea furniture is a piece of cake compared to this. It cost us $550 to install five fans in our house, and it is the most reasonable improvement we have done to our house in a long time. Our 5 fans cost $350 from Home Depot and they are beautiful. Simon Electric was professional and curteous and highly recommeded. 5 stars. read more

I have used Simon Electric twice and I would never use any other electrical contractor. They are very reasonably priced and efficient. I first used them to hang a huge light fixture in my dining room. They made it look simple! The second and most recent visit, they hung a light fixture over my kitchen island. It was a difficult task because my ceilings are very high. They were able to figure it out and did a great job. The two technicians sent out were very professional and friendly. I had an attempted break in to my home on Sunday. One of the things the police recommended that I do ASAP was to have security/motion lighting installed. Sunday late afternoon, I went online to try to find an electrician. I filled out the form on Home Advisor and within minutes they called me. On Sunday evening! I explained the situation and the lady I spoke with was friendly and said that she had an opening for 9 AM the following morning. They showed up right at 9 AM and got started and I headed off to work. Unfortunately, I had left the switches off so they could work on them, so they were unable to test. When I got home that evening, the light in the back yard was fine but the one at the front door wasn't working. They came back out the next day and everything is working as promised now. The pricing was good, service was friendly and prompt, and even though something didn't work right, they fixed it right away. I am very pleased and will definitely call them again if I have anything else that needs to be done. read more
