Came in to get my septum repierced today with Natasha. Immediately after the piercing I knew something was wrong, it was very very low and extremely painful. I chalked it up to it being fresh and swollen. Had the thought that it might have gone through my cartilage, went to another shop to get a second opinion and I was right. They removed it right away and repierced me in the correct area. Worst part is Natasha had an apprentice with her and was teaching her with my experience. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I originally had an appointment with Rick the A**hole about a week ago and was told that he was going to tattoo me that same day when I made the appointment. When I get their I tell him I want some roses over my cover up and show him some pictures and immediately tries to say wat I want runs about $1300.. n I'm thinking for some roses.. it's not even a portrait.. it's roses. Than he does a quick sketch on my arm n says he'll run through some ideas and will do the tatt another time and work with me on some prices. He finally gives me a wack sample of what I want and charges tells me he'll do it for $600. I still think that's too steep so I shop around for other tattoo artist and find someone that is really good willing to charge me $350 for what I want which was perfect. So I tell Rick the A**hole it's good I'm going to go with someone else and requested my deposit back. He tells me no and than has the audacity to post on IG what I wanted tries to insult me. This was my first tattoo and Not really knowing what to expect, I was shocked how extremely nice the inside of Simms is. The entrance is small but once you get inside it's very nice, clean, spacious and the waiting area is amazing. Very hospitable. Miguel was great I showed him a pic of what I wanted as a memorial tatt for my brother and he sat down with me and spent sometime just talking about options he was very understanding and showed compassion towards the lose of my brother, which meant a lot. I got second piercings on my lobes by Alexis. She was very understanding of the fact that I had not had my ears pierced since I was 8 and made sure I was familiar with the piercing process. She listened to what I wanted to achieve visually and answered any questions/concerns I had about certain jewelry and possibly getting another lobe piercing in the future. I am super happy with the placement! Alexis is very knowledgeable and kind. They let an apprentice spend four hours or more tattooing an elder family member and charged per hour. First of all, I've never really heard of an apprentice charging per hour. Apprentices naturally take longer to tattoo regardless the design, mind you this was a simple black out turtle silhouette as well. They charged her 400 dollars for a tattoo I could have had done by @tanner_drake_tattoos in Chico for far less much faster. As someone who's been getting tattoos for a few years now I was appalled to hear the price when the pieces on my body with far more detail costed the same if not less. Very disappointing. 10/10 would NOT recommend Simms Ink for piercings. I got my faith pierced here back in June and it developed two fat bump which, yes I know is normal, but I finally decided to do something about it so I went to a piercing place down the street from my school and asked to get the jewelry changed. This wasn't the issue. The issue was that the piercer pierced my in the incorrect spot, so I now have wasted $53 and I am stuck babying two fat bumps on my ear. :/ very upset because I loved the piercing so now I just have to spend more money to get it fixed. read more

I got my second tattoo here about two years ago but I never wrote a review. 10 tattoos later, I feel like I have a better understanding of quality in tats. I got a Pisces sign on the back of my ear and and let me tell you, it is not the cutest. First of all, the artist was very rough and had such a heavy hand that the ink looked like it bled immediately. I also asked for a white ink shadow on the tattoo and when the tattoo healed the black and white looked mixed and just very sloppy. I have a large flower piece on the back of my other ear which took about an hour and a half and it was completely painless. I should've known he was going to hard when a quarter size tattoo was painful. I don't think it's fair to say all their artists use a heavy hand because this was years ago and maybe they have made adjustments but just thought I'd share my experience. read more

First off, walking in the guy at the front desk didn't even look up from his phone to greet us, I should have called ahead so I didn't interrupt his instagram scrolling, my bad. Got called back to get pierced, didn't even know the gals name she didn't introduce herself, figured out her name is Divine which is ironic as hell. She pierced my ears two sizes two big which I hadn't noticed until I went to another shop 2 months later to get the earrings taken out because they were screwed on so dam tight I almost resorted to cutting them off with pliers. I had to leave the earrings out for a day they could shrink to normal earring aoTo top it off they were crooked. If you want to get nipple rings in your ears come here. read more

I liked how friendly the staff was, despite me being a little neurotic and clearly anxious. I think Miguel did a truely awesome job at not only execution, but also helping me feel comfortable and safe. He also gave really detailed after-care info which was really appreciated because when I got my ear piercings done elsewhere they only told me AFTER I asked then what to do. I'm not giving a full 5 stars because I was initially told I could pay $50 extra for a small amount of the numbing cream by the person who answers their phones during the weekdays. (I called 2x and made sure it was confirmed and that my artist was aware). Showed up at the end of the week (I made my appointment a week in advance), and was told it was far from it, $150! Had to get over my fear and just get the tattoo with no numbing cream which was totally fine, LOL. Miguel was super great and helped me through it. I was sporting a bear tattoo which was supposed to be a lioness for more than 3 years. Yeah, it was the last tattoo of that place for the year. Wrong move, but I really wanted it done before the year was over. I just moved to Hayward in February and pass by Simms Ink every time I come home. Two months ago, I just decided to stop by for a consultation to check them out. I talked with Rick about what I wanted done and if it can be done. Rick said no problem. He had been tattooing for 23 years, and gave me a quote. Came back a couple of weeks ago, and realized that I made the right choice. Rick was awesome, easy to talk to and he got what I wanted. I wanted a cobra head on top of my lioness. He did just that and more. He also made the lines sharp and made my whole tattoo more vibrant. He put more red on my phoenix wings to make it more fiery. He also improved my infinity thorns. Just the way I wanted it in the first place!!! Later, he told me that he didn't really like to redo someone else's, but he did a great job!!! I went in today for a consultation with Rocky. I will be getting my new tattoo in two weeks. The reason I am already writing this review is because I have one tattoo already done by Rocky and he is great so I know my next one will be even better!! He has changed location and is worth following. If your considering a tat get a consult with Rocky and look at his work. His detail is amazing and I love the colors! The shop is clean and I found everyone to be very friendly. The parking is at a minimum so that kinda sucks but other wise I don't see why the complaints about the look of the place. It is located above a very cool motorcycle shop and easy to get too ( right off the freeway in fact). I'm not sure what some people expect a tattoo shop to look like? As long as the place is neat, clean and has great artists what's the problem? After my fresh ink is in place I will be updating my review with photo's ;) 3/30/2013 update I got my new ink today ( by Rocky) and its everything I expected and more. He did an amazing job !! He also fixed up a old tattoo that I have always hated because the colors weren't right. I don't know why people have complained about the office. Its a pretty cool place. The bar area is nice and their bathroom, I know this sounds funny, is gorgeous LOL... I would highly recommend Rocky if your looking for some really detailed ink... I know he doesn't like doing cover ups but hear there are some artists there that do. This is my honest experience at Simms and I don't mean to offend or make anyone look bad, but I will post this to possibly help someone who does not want to waste their money on a badly placed piercing. I went to Simms to get my septum pierced and it was done straight into the cartilage. No doubt about it, it was way into the hard part of my nose. The piercer struggled to get the needle through and the pain was unbearable. I heard the cartilage POP and the piercing felt so tight. I immediately knew something was wrong but was too scared to say something as I didn't want to offend her (she has 20+ years of experience apparently?). She was also VERY rough and not gentle at all. She slapped my hand away when I went to touch my HAIR, (she thought I was going to touch my nose) and that completely turned me off. I went back the next day and kindly and respectfully asked to fix the placement. I even told her I knew it was pierced WAY off and she refused to believe that she messed it up. She took a look at it and claimed it was because my "sweet spot" was way high up and offered to do it slightly lower but at that point I knew that it wasn't worth it, because if she couldn't admit her OBVIOUS mistake then I didn't want her piercing me again. I went to another place that is now my new piercing place and showed a picture of where the hole was from Simms and they said they have people coming in all the time that went to Simms and had their septum done wrong. The other piercer did it in a COMPLETELY, CORRECT spot. The actual sweet spot. It was completely painless and she was so gentle. I didn't even feel the needle go in, and I was so shocked because at Simms I nearly cried at the pain. Use this review to warn you, if you want a septum piercing, rethink going to Simms and go to somewhere the piercer knows what they're actually doing. read more

Chelsey is a gifted tattoo artist. having 4 tattoos done by her in 5 months, I anxiously wait another one. She replies to emails fairly quickly, accepts your ideas to incorporate into her own and charges reasonably. I have also been pierced by Natascha and she has helped me out with cleaning advice , putting in new jewelry and helping with lost ones ;) eventually, I hope to be tattooed by Jen Marshall as well, her use of color is like an oil painting, stunning to look at , you don't believe it's actually ink the shop is clean and welcoming , with an awesome waiting area. I've never had a problem booking or rescheduling. the rest of the tattoo artists take a peek while getting done and are friendly, funny and great artists themselves. read more
