Awesome price!!! Even better service. He came to the house, confirmed the measurements, made perfect "pencil-roll edges" sort of pillowed past the edge of the table tops to protect the wood... pretty much perfect. And a hell of a nice person too read more

You can't leave a message because the vmail is full and I got a hold of 2 alternate numbers and they do not respond.

Always trustworthy, great work, speedy, good price. In July, we broke a wood framed window while unsticking them for open house! Skip made an emergency visit and repaired the window in time for the showing. He was a life saver. read more

I've done so much business with Skip. He has good service and great pricing. He stopped by my rental until to take measurements and then is able to provide an estimate of the cost fairly quickly. He also arrives on time whenever we have scheduled meeting. Would recommend his service to others. read more

Highly recommend. Very responsive and excellent work. Had a very large piece of glass cut for a built in credenza. The owner talked about the weight of glass that size and helped me pick the right thickness. He called again when it was available and met us for a COVID-safe pick-up. Will definitely use Simmons again. read more

Super-efficient and knowledgeable guys. We had a rushed expedited order for a glass replacement. They had the glass order overnighted and installed by next day afternoon. The actual install took 20-25min. These guys are real Pros and reasonably priced. Highly recommend! read more

These guys were really great. I called today and left a message explaining that I had a broken window in need of repair. He called me right back and was able to come to my home the same afternoon. He was very polite and professional and took measurements and assessed the situation. I was pleasantly surprised when he said he could fix it right then, for an affordable price too. Very thorough, careful, precise. I appreciated the high level of service and quality. I will certainly call on Simmons again, as I likely will replace some other older windows. read more

Top work, good prices and excellent customer service. We have used Simmons Glass several times now for glass and mirror replacements, and always had a great experience. They operate by phone primarily and will call back but sometimes it takes a day or two. read more

From the first call to the end of the job, Simmons glass has been one of the most courteous and professional businesses I've worked with in the SF Bay Area and beyond. A fallen over olive oil bottle caused a small crack in the mirrored backsplash of my kitchen. In renting this unit, I hoped it would be a cheap and easy fix. Unfortunately, it required having the entire panel removed and replaced by a custom cut sheet. :( Skip was very responsive and friendly with both the mirror and job estimates. In discovering an added outlet cutout requirement, he came out to measure the mirror and outlet dimensions to ensure the fit. Originally, to save $$ and being quite handy, my friend and I had planned to buy the mirror and replace it ourselves. But the added outlet would have required specialized knowledge and tools for further cutting/adjusting on the spot. :( Skip and his crew made this an even better decision and a seamless repair. It was even better than the original splash and truly a professional job with installation. read more

Skip Simmons returned my initial call promptly. He estimated a fair price over the phone. He followed up with a site visit for measurements. He and John delivered and installed my new mirror when promised What's not to like? I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

I had Mr. Simmon install new, custom shower glass panels on the brand new master bathroom after I found him on Yelp. Yesterday evening, when I checked it out, I was very impressed with the work. Great work, I admit. His crew spent most of the day to install it perfectly. I ended up driving to his shop this morning to pay the balance and thank his crew members. I highly recommend this company. read more

Skip was great to work with. I had my deck redone and wanted an unobstructed view without having all glass railings. We came up with the combo so that when I'm sitting on my deck my line of sight is not obstructed. The glass brings the height up to code and is very easy to keep clean. I love it! Please see the picture I posted. read more

I went Simmons to get a new glass shower door, new plastic molding for a shower door and a piece of laminated glass for a window. Skip was reliable, quick, and courteous with an old world charm. He helped me sort through the options. His prices are fair and his turnaround quick. What a surprisingly positive experience! read more

Skip, Thank you and your team for an excellent job. You were able to design and execute exactly what we wanted. Your glass is certainly one of the WOW features in our house. Our stairwell is now encased in glass and it is stunning. You kept the project on track and met our agreed timelines. You insured that the highest quality of materials and assembly was maintained. Please pass on our hearty thanks to your team of expert craftsmen. They were superb! read more

2 stars because Skip was so polite and likeable but he wasted my time by not following up after i took off from my work to meet him, he has not given me the estimate and it's been over a month! I'm guessing that he has lots of work and I would suggest that you only go to him with large jobs, over 10 windows or more otherwise this may happen to you too. read more

I am overdue for writing this review, but I tend to wait a bit to make sure someone's craftsmanship survives the test of time. The first time I called Simmons glass was after I was dealt with rudely by East Bay Glass who also gave me a ridiculously expensive estimate for getting 12 glass panels made for a brand new balcony railing. So I did some more research and found these reviews on Simmons glass and decided to give them a call. Skip answered the phone, we scheduled an appointment for him to look at the railing system and measure all the panels. He got back to me (after a couple of calls) and gave me a reasonable estimate and timeline. He completely delivered on it (and actually physically delivered the panels to my house). Stress free experience. That was over 2 years ago and the railing still looks great. So when it came time to have a large frame-less glass shower built (6 feet by 4 feet), I decided to call skip again. I was a bit more worried about it because it was not clear to me whether his crew had much experience with frame-less showers, but Skip came prepared with materials and clearly explained what the project involved. Again, his estimate was reasonable given the scope of the project so we gave him the job. Other than a little bit of miscommunication from his glass supplier, the project went well. His crew is extremely meticulous and details oriented. I am very picky myself and can tell you his workers are perfectionists. The shower came out amazingly beautiful and now a little over a year later, the it still looks great and is leak free. I posted a picture of it here to highlight how big and beautiful a project this was. We have since recommended Simmons glass to friends of ours who wanted an interior stairway glass railing done and they also loved the finished work. Thank you Skip and crew! read more

Update: we did indeed have Simmons Glass return to have made for us and to install a beautiful, custom glass shower door and glass cabinet doors that we wanted with a very specific degree of opacity and color. Skip and Baskum returned to the scene with the same professionalism, class, and downright good-guy-ed-ness as before and, again, did a remarkable job for a very fair price. Knowing that Skip inadvertently underbid me on my previous mirror project but refused to accept additional payment for that, I tried to get him to charge me more for this project, but he would not, despite my repeated attempts. They're back now to make an install a new beveled mirror for us and I was so happy to see them again. Not often you feel that way about a contractor...or maybe even a family member! :) read more

they put in a mirror into my house that covered the entire wall! They were able to carry it in, install it, and make it look beautiful. And also very careful with my purchases. That mirror was HEAVY!! They even carried it up a narrow staircase read more

Simmons is extremely professional, offering excellent customer service, and beautiful work. I agree with all the other 5 star reviews! Thanks Skip, John & team! read more

I hired Simmons Glass to replace one window. The price seemed very competitive but I found out later why. After destroying my trim bead around the window Skip indicated he would find a replacement but never did. After I had to make repeated calls, I never heard back from Simmons Glass. While they replaced the window I don't have any protection (glazing bead) around the window, leaving it exposed to the elements. Simmons Glass was very unprofessional on how they handled this small job. Anytime you see reviews that are really bad and really good it tells you that one end of the spectrum are fake - you can decide which is real. read more

Skip and company did a top notch job. They are attentive to detail and are outstanding where customer service is concerned. We had a shower enclosure done by them and our windows redone. We are incredibly pleased. read more

Our shower door is beautiful, was incredibly affordable and Skip was so easy to work with. The estimate and order process was smooth, efficient and Skip kept us up to date on appointments and order timing. We decided on Simmons glass bc it was the cheapest with the quality we wanted (got quotes from 3 places) and could not be happier. There was a mishap with the door install but Skip replaced everything quickly and easily. We would definitely use Simmons again! read more

We called Simmons after another glass company failed to show when we needed a window replaced in our storefront. It took me a year to get around to writing this, but Simmons Glass did a great job installing a wall-to-wall mirror above our bathroom sink. They were more thorough and less expensive than the other companies I called. The mirror looks great. Only thing the could've done better was be more prompt; they ran late for the estimate and the install. All in all, I would certainly use them again. read more

I called Simmons Glass after a terrible experience with Island Glass (Island Glass basically stood me up; they never showed up for our appointment). I needed to replace the broken glass on a bedroom window. I spoke to Skip from Simmons Glass on Wednesday. He asked me a few questions about the glass (including measurements) and estimated that it would cost anywhere from $120-$150, though he couldn't confirm the exact price until he saw it. I agreed that he replace it and we scheduled an appointment for the following day at 9:30am. Here's how I would assess their work: -Customer Service (Excellent): Skip called me before heading over as he had agreed to and showed up on time at my home. He was friendly and informative and so was his coworker. -Craftsmanship (Excellent): The work was taken care of quickly and with attention to detail. They replaced the glass and made sure to clean it as well as the lower part of the frame, leaving no residue of any kind behind. The quality of the glass itself seems great (though I'm no expert). -Price: It's difficult for me to assess this because I got estimates from only a few other places. In the end, Skip charged $145, which is on the higher end of the range he gave me over the phone. A few other places, which have been considered pricey by other yelp reviewers (for example, Jimenez Glass), gave me estimates of about $150. If $150 is in fact on the higher end of what is usually charged for this type of work, then Simmons is pricey. This is the only reason why I give them four stars instead of five. In sum, Simmons Glass offers excellent customer service and craftsmanship. While they may be a little on the pricey side, I would hire them again any day. read more

John is very friendly and professional. He replaced a large (about 8ft wide by 5ft tall) cracked mirror very well. The old mirror was carefully removed from the bathroom wall, without further cracking and without dropping any glass. The new mirror went in without a hitch. John made sure it lined well with the walls and finished the edges very cleanly. John then cleaned up the workspace very well and was on his way. Installation was done when promised, clean and good quality. Price was very reasonable too. read more

I needed an ~36" square single pane window for our old house on a Sunday. Our local hardware stores did not carry panes this large. Called Simmons Glass and the owner (forget his name, drat!) picked up the phone and said there were not open (it was a Sunday) but he was doing the books and would take care of us. He had the pane waiting for us when we arrived. There are folks out there that remember what service is. Charming personable individual. read more

Beyond amazing! Skip and his crew are super polite and professional; exceeded my expectations more than I could have expected. New to Oakland, and relying on fellow Yelpers, I took a chance. As other Yelpers, I wish I could give Simmons Glass more stars than five. Skip skillfully--and carefully--removed 50-year old textured sidelight glass from my home and is warehousing it for future projects. The care given the project was as if my home were his home. Skip also replaced glass in two panes that I added to the project list at the last minute. The installation was sooner than scheduled and Skip worked with my schedule His crew cleaned the glass and swept the work area, taking with them all the debris. Pricing was spot-on competitive but it was the attention given that made this experience beyond belief. Look no further than Simmons Glass for any glass need you might have. read more
