I've rented equipment twice from Simi-U-Rent, and have had a great experience both times. The first was a heavy duty saw. The second was a double-axle trailer and 1/2 ton U-haul truck. Read the reviews and called on September 12th as Simi U-Rent had a Toro Dingo and , as importantly, an 18" diameter auger and I needed both. Bob answered the phone, confirmed availability for the weekend of the 16th and addressed the costs associated with renting the Dingo, the scoop, and the auger. Bob accepted payment and confirmed everything would be ready for pickup Saturday morning at opening. Got crushed with early morning taskers Saturday the 16th and showed up at 0930 instead of 0800. No sweat, walked in to speak with Bob and present ID. Was given to Gary who loaded the scoop, auger bit, and finally the Dingo with the hydraulic auger driver loaded. After everything was chained down and secured on the brand new trailer I was instructed to not drive above 55 mph. I told Gary I would take Los Angeles to Tierra Rejada the whole way. Confirmed my lights and the trailer lights were sync'd and headed off. No issues getting home, off loading everything, and getting to work with the grading of my 3/4 acre lot. At the very end of Saturday one of the lines to the ram controlling the dump burst. I called and left a voicemail Saturday evening. There is no good day to lose the one tool you have to complete work ahead of contractors kicking off their work. Called in Monday morning early to ask for repairs and make arrangements to hold onto the device through to Wednesday the 20th. No issues with arranging for replacement of the hydraulic line. Bob confirmed I could hold onto the Dingo and all accessories through to the 20th. Back to work Monday, Tuesday and finally Wednesday evening to wrap up grading, and boring 17, 18" by 18" holes in my backyard for footings to support the new deck going in next week. My sincere thanks for having the right equipmen t as no one in the area had a Dingo, or equivalent skid-steer available, and no one has an 18" diameter auger in VC all the way down to United in Canoga. Anyone working behind a desk in this day and age has to put up a wall. Some consideration, respect and kindness for those tasked with supporting the general public goes a long way. The customer has a say, and I'm sure portions of the reviews have a kernel of truth. My experience is more than satisfactory. The rental, repair, and return process for a critical piece of gear at a critical time in my family's lives is clearly laid out here. I'm activating OCT 1 for 6 months and this week was the only week to support this tasker. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. We rented two large pieces of equipment from the company, when we being loaded up the manager came out and rushed the employee to get us out of the yard. No checking of equipment. Upon return, we returned one piece just fine and when returning the second, the tire went flat. I am now being charged for pickup of their unchecked equipment and the tire repair. Manager has terrible people and customer service skills. Won't be using this place again and definitely won't be referring anyone. read more

We rented a dump trailer from these guys. The main manager in the front is a jackass. I handed him my out of state id and he threw it saying it was no good. I said okay. So we rented it via an employee of mine. Then these jackasses show up one day and pick up the dump trailer without saying anything?! They have my card on file!!! The only reason I give two stars is that they are the only place in town to get some of this stuff. Rented a sod cutter for 1-day, picked it up at 3:30PM tuesday and returned it back thursday morning at 7:00AM and this guy tells me it is a 2-day rental. Really, get it at end of day tuesday back thursday first thing in the morning. That to me is a one day rental. He theels me i had it for 2-days and wont back down from it. Worst Customer Service!! General manager is rude and arrogant!!! I rented a stump grinder for 4hrs, I returned it like 20 min before the 4 hrs were due. I was overchargedso I let them know and they fixed It the same day. 6 months later I received a letter stating I owe the money I was overcharged. I went back and talked to them, the general manager was so rude wouldn't even let me talk he was like "you answer my question " I showed proved from my bank statements then he said "I have a credit card that's not right" He even asked the other customers that were there "How do you guys read your bank statements " very very unprofessiona. Wish I would have read the reviews before doing business with this company. I called them to schedule a forklift rental. They completed my rental over the phone and collected the delivery address, rental time, and my payment information. This was scheduled one week in advance. The forklift was for a piece of equipment I ordered for my shop. The equipment was arriving via flatbed from Ohio. On the morning of my rental I called at 645am to see if I could also rent some chains with my forklift. I was told "I was just about to call you, we aren't going to be able to bring the forklift." That's all I was told. Not that it's arriving late, or that it needs to be re-scheduled for a different day, simply that it cannot be rented. When I asked why, I was told they had not received the proper training on the forklift therefore could not rent it. They didn't provide an alternative solution, didn't help me locate a different forklift, did not compensate me in anyway, and they didn't even apologize! Terrible company, do not rely on them. I got lucky one of my friends had a tractor that we used to remove my equipment. I don't know what I would have done. The poor delivery guy literally drove from Ohio with my equipment and had other deliveries to make after dropping off my stuff. read more

I reserved a truck through Budget Truck Rental to be picked up here. I arrived the next day, and there was no truck, and the manager at Simi U-Rent told me that it wasn't his problem. "You rented from Budget, not from me." He flatly refused to try to make it right. When I asked who I could call to try to fix it, he handed me a Budget brochure. They failed on all fronts. The only reason they didn't receive 5 stars is because the pick up was a disaster in terms of time. Scheduled pick up time was 11am and I called to see if it could get picked up earlier, no such luck. Now 11am had come and gone, at about 12pm I called to follow up and indicated I was waiting and waiting....driver was delayed....Gentleman I spoke with said well I guess I will come get it myself, another hour and 45 minutes later the original delivery driver arrived. No apologies after indicating my dad and I both had missed our appointments due to the delays. Don't rely on them for punctuality!!! I went to rent a U Haul trailer and they were very difficult to deal with. They wanted an alternative contact number and insisted on testing it to make sure someone on the other end picked up. You don't need to bug my alternative contact while she's at work. I left and went to the U-Haul location on LA Ave in Simi Valley and they were quite helpful. Don't go to this location. read more

Cheap beat up old crap renting out at full price with the threat of paying full retail if damaged. I recently rented a budget truck for my move the prices guaranteed online at 29.99 out the door but when I got there he tacked on all kinds of different fees then eliminated a few and said he was giving me a bargain. When it was all said and done he ended up charging me $85. I went in to protest charges and found out they had charged me $10 after hours fee + $25 late fee + tax!!! After i had agreed to bring it back after hours up front and he said he'd wave the fee. It turns out they duped me and wrote the contract that i was using the Budget truck for 1.5 hours only then tacked on the fees! I was livid, that's theft and dishonesty from a local business! I rented a 16' truck from a Budget place in Reseda earlier this month for our family's move, and dropped it off at this place near our new home in Simi Valley. I'm glad the guy at Budget in Reseda walked me around the truck carefully and told me to take pictures of the truck before I took it off the lot, because the manager at Simi U Rent went out to inspect the truck and came back in inform me that there was damage to the front corner at the roof and a small crack in the windshield, which would cost me $265, and it wasn't even covered in the insurance I paid for. I was livid, and I was pretty sure I was being taken for a ride. I got the manager of the Budget place in Reseda on the phone to discuss. I didn't know if I had a good enough photo of the roof corner, but there it was--easy to miss--and luckily it showed the small mark on the windshield as well. I had my evidence to go to court if it went that far. The manager at Simi U Rent had to back down from the repair cost demand, but he still pawned the issue off on the manager in Reseda. The manager at Simi U Rent was betting I was just another sucker who was going to grumble a bit and back down and get out the wallet for damage I didn't cause, but he bet wrong. Thanks to the manager in Reseda for actually looking out for me. So two lessons from this: 1. I will never go back to Simi U Rent, because I think these guys are predators who are looking for any excuse to pin the slightest damage issue on you. And most importantly, 2. TAKE LOTS OF PHOTOS of your rental before you take it off the lot! Walk around your rental and take snaps of every little thing, even inside the back. Don't let these bad apples railroad you into damage costs that aren't your fault. Keep looking out for #1, because Simi U Rent is looking out for themselves, not you. read more

I have rented from Simi U Rent many times and found their attitudes to be very DGAF. The equipment they rent is old and very used up, not worth the money they charge, but sometimes they're the only place in town to get something. The last straw was I made three calls over a week to reserve a lift. Two days before my pick up I called to confirm and of course the lift was broken. I had to be very insistent that they could get one from their Camarillo location, the guy said he'd check and call me back. No return call. I called back the next day; They had gotten the lift alright, and rented it to someone else. No apologies, didn't try to help me out, nothing. Really left me in the lurch. Worst customer service ever! They have no respect for customers. Took money for full 4 hours (1 to 5 pm).. when we started the rental at 1.30 and went back to return at 4.30 pm. They don't help at all. We have a 8 month old and my hubby needed help picking up and loading the the tiller we rented from them; they rudely declined and said we'll charge more if you don't get it in by 5!! We needed to rent a refrigerator dolly last minute on a Saturday. Originally, we called other more popular places and they were sold out. Ended up trying Simi-U-Rent. My husband went in to return the dolly a few days later. We were very pleased with the staff understanding and working with us instead of overcharging us on an issue we had with returning the dolly. read more

This is the most unprofessional rental company I have ever used. I decided to use them on a recommendation and was not only appalled at the lack of customer service, I am irreparably inconvenienced with not a single care from the company. I used their website which redirected me to Budget Rentals to make a reservation and did not receive a call until an hour before pickup that the vehicle would not be available. At this point there are no rental companies that have a vehicle and I will be forced to move what I can with my personal vehicle and wait to move the rest when another vehicle is available. The representative I spoke with had no remorse and just told me he never has trucks on the lot and it's not his website so he won't fix it. Sure, Simi U Rent may not be the owner of Budget Rentals, but if they are going to be a provider, I would expect you ensure all reservations are possible to meet and notify all customers in a timely manner if there will be an issue. It is just inexcusable to blame the company you represent and take no accountability for the inconvenience you cause your ex-customers Simi U Rent....I'll take my business elsewhere. First of all, I want to point out that most of the complaints are about "Budget" Rental trucks. If you are on a Budget, dont expect the best. As for my experience, this was my first time renting here and I have searched high and low for the perfect truck and trailer combo. Uhaul told me to go here, and thats how I found it. My experience at U-Haul was AWFUL!! But, My experience at Simi U-Rent was Amazing! Start to finish! There is a gentleman who runs the counter and he is a pleasure to work with, the Truck and Trailer were AWESOME (I got compliments on the trailer 3 times during my short trip). I was late to pick up and late as ever to drop off and was treated like a king with respect. They rent so many things! I needed a special forklift that was rented out and I was promised they could get me one when I needed it, but instead I went with a different setup. Variety, Professionalism, Quality, Quantity, and best of all ... The price is right. Its better than right. For all the Whiney people making negative reviews on this place, THIS IS CONSTRUCTION! If you want a polished and armor-alled New truck.. go waste your money at enterprise. If you want a company that will help you get your job done at the most reasonable price .. This is the place for you. I was quoted 500 bucks to have my stone picked up 19 miles away and dropped off in my driveway. This was the worst experience I've ever had renting a vehicle. The reereved truck was not here... Was "missing". Tried to rent a shorter truck just to have one, just as that contract compleated, the truck showed up. Tried to cancel original contract, but employees are incapable of operating the computer, bickering and fighting about who knows more. Do NOT rent from this place! I reserved a 10' moving truck through Budget moving trucks one month in advance. This U Rent business handles those reservations. On moving day I arrive at 8am an wait in line forever with one person (Gary) working the counter and 4 other customers behind me. Then it's finally my turn and he's looking up my rental and has NO trucks!!! Gary said 'John should have called you yesterday'. Well he didn't! So Gary goes to cancel the transaction so I won't be charged and wanted me to sign a paper that said 'balance $150'. What is UP with this place?? How I wish I would have read reviews before renting from this place. Reserved a Budget truck from them. ..what a mistake. I made my reservation two days before on line. I stood there waiting for my truck for an hour. Gary at the desk was not friendly and even took a phone call that lasted 10 minutes while I stood there! I said nothing until I returned the truck and he said I didn't fill the gas tank enough. I filled it as far as I could without in overflowing. It kept clicking off. He started to complain to me that he only made 17% off the rental and one of the reasons it took so long in the morning was because the truck was filthy. Not sure how this was my problem. He said he wouldn't charge me the $30 filling fee when I pointed out how he kept me waiting so long but he did use my card to charge $5 for gas. Maybe a way to make a little extra money. As a contractor I usually rent from different locations throughout Los Angeles and Ventura county. I usually get great service from the other tool rental stores. Which leads me to this review about this location and its customer service. There is certainly something negative about this place. I walked into this establishment and no one was at the customer service counter. After a few minutes of waiting I finally received service. I rented a tool I really needed for a job site. I returned in the afternoon and that's when the drama began. Upon arriving, I witnessed the guy in the back that helps with the loading and un-loading of the tools being scolded by his supervisor. ( the guy that helped me at the front counter ) I knew this was not going to be good. So, when it was my turn to unload my tool rental, the poor guy had the worst attitude, and you guessed it, he took his frustration out on me. raising his voice, he made a claim that the tool was not properly turned off and that next time I should pay attention to these details. Had I not witnessed the poor fool being told off for unknown reasons, my reaction would have been very different. but, as a business owner I composed myself and instead took pity on this foolish man, realizing the keyboard is mightier than the sword. Besides, I was in a great mood and I wasn't about to let this ignorant fool ruin my day with his drama. I didn't bother complaining to the manager because he did not look very happy either. The bottom line here is, this establishment has horrible work ethics and very unhappy employees. This all stems from lack of great leadership and management. I will not be returning to this place at all. This place is not only the worst tool rental place I have ever rented from but also the most un-friendly. We knew exactly what we needed the pick up for, and guy there thought he knew better, tried to argue and rent a bigger truck when we didn't need one. My husband refused, so they finally agreed the pick up would be Ok. Process of getting the truck out of there took over 30 mins when we were on a time constraint. We put in a request online to rent some equipment from them a week ago. Since we hadn't heard back my husband called on Weds. Spoke to a guy, guy says "oh sorry we missed your request" takes down info, promises a delivery of equipment to us for Friday afternoon or evening. Cool! Done right? We don't hear from them Friday but think probably a little later, 5 rolls around and nothing so we call and they are closed. So....... ok. First thing Sat we call to inquire if they will be dropping off promised equipment. Guy on the phone is SO RUDE. Basically says they don't have what we reserved and his hands were tied, and that maybe he could get one later in the day but probably not. Mind you he doesn't ask our names, or anything. My husband explains we are starting a huge project and it really just set us back in a huge way. Again, no apology, no trying to make it right. Just says he doesn't know who we spoke to but it wasn't him so there wasn't anything he'd be able to do about it. Such BS. We are so disappointed.
