The Dealer wanted 1,500 and Good Year wanted $1,200. I checked a couple of auto part stores and I could buy a catalytic converter for $120. I didn't understand why they were charging so much at the national repair chains. My research said it was a simple install job that would take less than an hour. I found Acapulco's Mufflers & Auto on they web and they said I could bring my own part and they would install it for $50. They also offered to sell me the part and install it for $180. That the option I took. They had me in and out in forty minutes and did a great job.

The muffler I bought from there has not given me any problems so far. The second time I went there was to get my alternator replaced. I had bought the alternator from Auto Zone and they replaced it for 1/3 the repair price that Pep Boys would have charged. They got the repair done in about an hour and it's great. I highly recommend this place, the service is great and the staff is amazing. The only problem that one may have is that the staff does not speak English that well, but I haven't had any other problems.

I stopped into this shop after my MAINT REQU light came on in my Corolla. As I am driving 500+ miles back to St. Louis today I was concerned that this could be a hold up. I was greeted by a friendly woman (who's name I unfortunately do not know) who immediately walked out to my car and explained that my mechanic back home had likely just forgotten to do a reset. She did it for me super quickly and handed back the key. I was so grateful (and relieved). I offered a tip but she wouldn't take it so this review is the best I can do.

I told them that I would pay the $95.00 diagnostic fee and to have my car ready for pick-up, that's when the diagnostic fee increased to $150.00. I also came to realize that in the repair costs they had slipped in a $70.00 oil change. I ask you, who do you trust?

I'm a long way from home an needed a shop to give my 53-year-old car some TLC on a small service job. Not only did they notice that my car requires 6 quarts of oil (instead of 5), they found a tiny, almost hidden spot on a coolant hose where the fan had carved out a little divot and could cause me trouble on the road. They even wiped off a little rain and dust that the car accumulated while it was outside their shop. I can't say enough good things about their whole approach to service: honest and competent.

I contacted AAA twice, and both times, they confirmed the problem was not with the battery but the alternator. Contrary to what Five Forks later claimed, AAA never installed a battery in my vehicle they only provided jump starts. I ultimately had to take my vehicle to a certified Dodge dealership, where a full inspection revealed the alternator had been improperly installed. According to their official report, this incorrect installation caused significant damage, including failure of the fuse box and unnecessary battery drain. As a result of this negligent repair, I incurred over $3,000 in losses including: Unnecessary parts (over $300 worth) purchased based on misdiagnosis Rental vehicle expenses Lost wages Additional repair costs to fix what Five Forks should have done right the first time I provided all documentation to the shop including Dodge's findings and a video showing the issue and gave them an opportunity to resolve this fairly. Instead of owning the mistake, they tried to deflect blame to AAA, despite clear evidence to the contrary. This has been a frustrating and financially draining experience. I am now pursuing legal remedies, including small claims court, due to the lack of accountability and proper customer care. I strongly advise others to avoid this shop. When something goes wrong, you deserve a mechanic who stands by their work not one who blames other parties and leaves you to deal with the damage!

I had to get my car fixed ASAP. I couldn't pass my emissions test and my tag was expired. My other mechanic thought it was my charcoal canister which is an expensive piece to replace. So I decided to get a second opinion. I went to Payless and explained the situation to Desmond the owner. He was able to diagnoses the problem. It was not the canister but two much less expensive parts. He quoted me a price that was half the other price including labor. They were also very fast. I dropped my car off at around 9:30am and it was done a little after 1:00. I really appreciated that he respected my time and didn't wait until the almost closing time to get my car done or let me know it was done. I was also surprised when I learned he did my new emissions test so I could get my new tag right away. I highly recommend Desmond and Payless Auto Repair quality work.
