I took my vehicle to Five Forks Automotive for an alternator replacement and it turned out to be a costly mistake. Shortly after the service, my car began experiencing electrical issues. I contacted AAA twice, and both times, they confirmed the problem was not with the battery but the alternator. Contrary to what Five Forks later claimed, AAA never installed a battery in my vehicle they only provided jump starts. I ultimately had to take my vehicle to a certified Dodge dealership, where a full inspection revealed the alternator had been improperly installed. According to their official report, this incorrect installation caused significant damage, including failure of the fuse box and unnecessary battery drain. As a result of this negligent repair, I incurred over $3,000 in losses including: Unnecessary parts (over $300 worth) purchased based on misdiagnosis Rental vehicle expenses Lost wages Additional repair costs to fix what Five Forks should have done right the first time I provided all documentation to the shop including Dodge's findings and a video showing the issue and gave them an opportunity to resolve this fairly. Instead of owning the mistake, they tried to deflect blame to AAA, despite clear evidence to the contrary. This has been a frustrating and financially draining experience. I am now pursuing legal remedies, including small claims court, due to the lack of accountability and proper customer care. I strongly advise others to avoid this shop. When something goes wrong, you deserve a mechanic who stands by their work not one who blames other parties and leaves you to deal with the damage! read more

Took our Suburban in for a cracked A/C condenser 3 times and still failed to fix it. They kept charging for random parts, indicating each time it was "fixed" although they admitted they never found a leak or anything wrong with what was replaced. This was during winter, so never really got a chance to use the A/C for weeks at a time, so it probably only worked a few days after each visit. After over $1200 spent on something that should have cost little more than half that, we'll still need to go to the dealership. read more

Out of the 13 reviews I've posted over two decades, TruGreen was the only other business that deserved a one star. I feel compelled to share my experience for the benefit of others who might be considering similar services. To the owner of Five Forks Automotive: I hope my review serves as constructive criticism and encourages improvement within your business. I regret to say that my first (and last) experience at Five Forks Automotive was nothing short of absolute disappoint. There's so much that makes absolutely no sense, I'm still trying to rationalize why I was treated so poorly. As a staunch supporter of Lilburn community businesses, I had high hopes. However, my hopes were decimated by utter disregard for customer service and basic decency. On the evening of 1/24/24, I dropped off my 2011 Kia Soul with 165,217 miles at Five Forks Automotive for a humming/droning sound that faintly starts around 45mph, and much more noticeable at 65mph. At the higher speeds, a slight vibration moves into the steering wheel (just for context, I have new tires, and everything was road-force balanced beforehand). When previously making the appointment over the phone, I emphasized not just the symptoms, but that visually there was grease leaking onto the driver's side subframe , as well as grease leaking out of the boot on the driver's side inner axle. In my mind, I'm thinking the diagnosis is fool-proof, and I'll walk away spending $200-300 bill for labor, a new boot, grease and a clamp, or a worst case, pricier scenario - I'd need a new axle. I received my first call on 1/25/24 from Amy informing me that they can't duplicate the sounds/vibration, mainly because it was raining pretty hard. This made complete sense. I then re-emphasize that it's much more noticeable at 65mph, and that they have permission to take the car onto a local highway (Ronald Reagan Pkwy). Fast-forward to 1/26/24, the weather is much drier, and I receive a call from Amy stating again that they can't duplicate the sounds/vibration, even when taking it on Ronald Reagan Pkwy. She then states the boots were fine, there was no grease leaking, and everything looked in place. It was at this very moment I knew they were gaslighting me. But it made absolutely no sense at all - why the deceit? Why wasn't there more transparency on why the job wasn't worth their time? Upon arrival to pickup my vehicle around 4:10pm, during the payment process everything was congenial and civil. Once the bill was paid, I casually walked over to my car, immediately got my phone out, as I then laid on my back I squeezed underneath the car and snapped some pictures of the leaking boot while dragging my hand across it to gather my evidence. By that point I had an audience of two automotive technicians staring me down. Walking back into the front office with a very greasy hand, I politely show it to a surprised Amy and state," This is the grease I was describing; I'm just going to go wipe it off in the bathroom." When exiting the building, since I have the audience of two automotive technicians staring me down, I go to my trucks bed and get out my 3-ton floor jack thinking I can just end this now by showing them myself. As I start jacking the vehicle up, I'm approached by one of the older male technicians who keeps telling me to 'Stop.' Calmly, I tell him that I just want to show him the greased up boot. At that point he states "You can't, you need to leave," with Amy standing right behind him. Instead of addressing my concerns like responsible professionals, I was summarily kicked off their property. At this point, I acknowledged, packed up my jack, and left the property. Outside of the pictures attached to this review, I'd like to point out that the odometer read 165,217 when initially dropping it off, and it read 165,219 upon leaving the property, translating they drove the vehicle a total of two miles. Remember how they stated they took it onto Ronald Reagan? The total mileage to the closest exit and back to Five Forks Automotive averaged 4.3 - 4.7 miles. What's truly disheartening is the thought of other customers who may have been similarly mistreated in the past. It's concerning to think that anyone else seeking repairs might have their concerns dismissed and their voices silenced, all while entrusting their safety and the well-being of their vehicles to this establishment. Supporting local businesses is important, but it should never come at the expense of basic respect and customer service. It pains me to say it, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Five Forks Automotive to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and seek out a business that values its customers and takes pride in its workmanship. Lilburn deserves better. read more

The team at Five Forks Automotive are AWESOME! I have a special relationship with my Toyota.... I love my FJ! Used to let the dealer futz with stuff, but now would not go anywhere other than Five Forks Automotive for anything we need. The work is great, but it is a lot more than that. All the folks at FFA are great, caring people that really love their efforts to keep our wheels in motion. You call and talk to real people and my experience has been quick appointments. The team always keeps me informed and I have actually learned a lot about my FJ when getting repairs. NO surprises.... NO pressure up-sell effort, just plain old school advice and recommendations. First off, they charge you for a diagnosis for your car somewhere between $76-$100 to start the repair unlike large chain shops like Pep Boys. And if you like the price quote and decided to get your car fixed there, they use the diagnosis fee as a part of credit toward the final bill. I wanted to do a radiator flush. They quoted me a cheaper than Pep Boys, so I decided to do it there. Then when my hubby wanted to pick the car up, they told him that they didn't do a full radiator flush. They drained the half of the coolant and filled it back up. Is it why they charged less than the normal places because they did the less job on our car?? Then as soon as we picked the car up and drove the car about 1/4 mile, "check engine" light came on the dashboard. It's a very bad sign. So I called them back, but all they told me was to bring the car back, but if they found out the check engine light issue was not caused by their radiator flush, they would charge us $75 for the diagnosis fee. Does it sound ridiculous? Check engine light came on way too coincidental to the timing to get the car back from this repair shop, so I wanted them to figure it out why, and they want to charge us for it. Technically, if they have this diagnosis fee policy, they can get to keep jimmy rigging your car forever and keep charging you,. To me, it's the best to cut them off and not to deal with them anymore. I'm writing this review actually as a reminder for myself not to go there ever again. Don't be fooled by those 5 star reviews which are written by their friends who don't even live in GA. Summery: Cons #1. they will charge you for diagnosis. #2. They will give your a cheaper price than Pep Boys, but will return your car half fixed. #3. If you don't like the results, you have to pay for the diagnosis again. read more

This is one of those places that makes me wonder why anyone would go to a "chain" place for auto repair. I'm a long way from home an needed a shop to give my 53-year-old car some TLC on a small service job. Not only did they notice that my car requires 6 quarts of oil (instead of 5), they found a tiny, almost hidden spot on a coolant hose where the fan had carved out a little divot and could cause me trouble on the road. They even wiped off a little rain and dust that the car accumulated while it was outside their shop. 5 years ago, Five Forks Automotive, LLC installed a new catalytic converter in my 1995 GMC Safari. No problem, except the woman at the desk told me my Van was on its last leg. I said nothing, while, I rebuked her negative confession in my thoughts. Weeks ago, took Van in to fix the misfiring after someone else did my tune up. They charged $95 and did not do a diagnostic despite I asked them to. On Monday July 22, 2019, took Van in because the alternator was not charging the new battery and van would not start. Next day, Matthew called and said cost would be $523 which included new alternator brackets. I asked them to do a diagnostic to be sure that's all I needed. I also asked them to check the STARTER! Matthew said they would. It took 2 days for parts to arrive. Van ready on Friday July 26. Drove Van to Publix down the street. Van would not start on 1st crank. That continued for a few days, until on Monday July 29, at Havoline to do an oil change, Van would not start at any crank. Roadside assistance arrived an hour later and jumped Van. I called and spoke with Matthew while at Havoline. He said he'll be glad to look at it next day. Roadside person said it was the starter because he has the same van, same problem and loose starter screws was the issue, especially since I have a new alternator, new starter, new battery and other new parts. I lost hundred of dollars not able to go to an event the next day. Went back to Five Forks Automotive Tuesday July 30 at 9am. Matthew said he'll be glad to install a new starter for a couple hundred dollars. I asked if the starter was checked and he said yes. Brian said when I picked up the van that the starter was checked. I don't believe the starter was checked. I was furious and asked God to repay them for my lost income and the inconvenience they've caused me. I also rebuked Matthew's negative comments about my Van. Told him, his wife / woman at the desk told me 5 years ago that my Van was on its last leg, yet it still works. He refused to look at the starter. I left. I took the Van to another shop. Sure enough, there were loose screws with the starter which was a quick $35 fix. Everyone I told how much I paid for the alternator and bracket install said it was way too much. If they had done a diagnostic, they would have seen the loose starter screws. ALSO, my Black and Decker Jigsaw that I left on the floor of the passenger side over an extension cord is gone/missing. She informed me of all the potential problems that I could be facing as well as certain possible price changes. She was patient when i kept asking for different quotes for different things. She was humorous and efficient. The workers were also efficient they were able to cut the time that it was going to take to fix my brakes in half.
