everything was super yummy! the pot stickers were slightly crispy and the filling was really good. my dish was also delicious and well balanced. i "cooked" the rice a little longer to get crispy rice and it was so good! the server was really helpful. my favorite was the red bean dessert. out of my normal palette but wow, so good.

Sima crew with our high school grad
Matt S.

We've been pretty regular customers at Sima starting when our daughter was a preschooler. We were not surprised when she asked to have her high school graduation party hosted at Sima in their private room. The entire Sima crew did not disappoint. Hot food, sushi, salad, soup, all were on point and always stocked. We had the room packed with people and never had to worry about the food or drinks. Christie, Dana, Mrs. Kim and everyone else, forgive me, who works there that I don't know their name treated us and our guests like first class passengers. Our daughter had an unforgettable party, we had no food to prep and cook or clean up to perform, and all our guests left happy and full. Thank you to everyone at Sima. We are thankful you have treated us like your own family. Please come enjoy the Sima experience and know that what I'm describing is just another day for the wonderful people here.

Korean sides
Jamie D.

The Korean bbq was fun. Very nice set up, although the table areas are a bit small. The meats are cut so that it is easy and quick to cook up/ the Korean sides were good, especially the cucumber and kimchi. Nice serving of rice with the meal as well. The beef was a bit over marinated for me and you lost the true beef flavor. The ribs were well seasoned with a nice balance of flavor. To top off a nice meal is the bubble tea. Truly a great way to end a nice meal, it took a while to prepare and serve, but it did not disappoint. Some of the best I have tried in the area. Great balance of flavor and didn't skimp on the bubbles. The servers there are knowledgeable and seem to genuinely enjoy their job. One server said most of them have been there over 5 years.

Perfect kimchi pancake at Sima. Extra crispy.

I love this kimchi pancake. I eat half at the restaurant and take half home. It's great with a fried egg at breakfast.

The same $1.25 ramen photo on google that they added a little ketchup and are now charging 18 dollars for.

DO NOT LET THEM PULL THE WOOL OVER YOUR EYES!! Imagine if you lived in a country with no Italian food options and I opened an Italian Ristorante in your town, repackaging Chef Boyardee and up charging you 18 dollars. THAT IS WHAT SIMA IS DOING! BANKING ON NAIVE AMERICANS who don't know any better about Korean cuisine. I came here with my wife with high hopes and left very disappointed. The squid with mixed vegetables was less than 50% protein. When an entree is a named, the ingredient that is named first should be higher proportionally. In this case it should've been named vegetables that happened to have squid. But real disaster struck when I got my noodles and only to look at my bowl and saw that they flipped instant ramen and I was about to pay 18 dollars for it. In short: I cannot recommend to patronize a place that has a business model that relies on predatory practices of taking advantage of people who have not had real Korean cuisine. Please do not reward the owners for this behavior and find somewhere else to go. NOTE: My mother is Korean and I have been stationed at Camp Mujuk with the Marine Corps and have a very good idea what I'm talking about.

Bibimbap (Vegetarian)

Bibimbap was good. Not a ton of vegetarian options on the menu but the staff was very helpful and accommodating in finding something I could eat and would enjoy! Everyone I came with was pleased with their meals.

Beef bulgogi
Kathleen C.

My husband was wanting noodles for dinner. We went to three different establishments and none were doing dine in. As we were looking around, we passed Sima, which I had bookmarked in Yelp. Thursday was noodle night so it was perfect for what my husband wanted. They have ramen and other types of noodle soups for $10. We started with the special appetizer of Takoyaki which is balls of octopus with a yummy sauce. For dinner, I had the beef bulgogi which comes with five Korean sides (kimchi, cucumber kimchi, curry potatoes, pickled seaweed and soy marinated radishes/cabbage). All the sides allow you to order extra. It was great. Our server was wonderful. We asked for recommendations and she spent time going over the menu and what she liked. We will definitely be back. They have specials on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well as bbq tables.

Fire mountain roll and spicy salmon roll or at least what's left of them
Sam U.

Stopped in for a dinner date and the food was pretty good. I do think they prefer when people make reservations online so keep that in mind. The fire mountain roll was very tasty and I would definitely get it again. The spicy salmon roll was okay but I feel like it had just a little too much sauce that you couldn't taste the salmon, at least for my preference. I will say there was a bit of a wait and service seemed slow but that was because there was only one person bussing tables and she was doing her best so absolutely no slander on her. Just if you plan to visit make sure and make a reservation and be prepared to be patient.

Combo sampler and seaweed salad, yum.

It's a small unassuming building with fairly limited seating, but just enough for those in the know! Service was quick and super friendly despite them having a busy day, just remember to pay at the register when you are done. The fish dishes are super popular because they were out of them when we went, so that's next on our list to try!

I have tried quite a few things on the menu, and my top two are the ojingeo-bokkeum (stir fried spicy squid) and japchae (stir fried noodles made from sweet potato starch). They are both consistently delicious. I like that they will make things actually spicy if you want it that way. Too many places will tone down the spice level when I order it as a 4-5/5. The banchan is always good too! I have tried to make the cheonsachae (kelp salad) at home, but it just doesn't taste the same. I could eat my weight in that stuff! The restaurant itself isn't much to look at, it's a bit old and run down, but always seems clean. I have never used their bathroom, which is located around the back of the building. My husband uses it every time we go and he's never complained about it. The servers are hit or miss. The last time we went we had a great server, but sometimes they can be less bubbly than most Americans prefer.

The sleek, modern décor makes it feel both stylish and inviting. Since it's still new, it was quite busy with plenty of people eager to check it out. We expected a wait, and sure enough, there was one. The only downside is that the front area isn't designed for waiting -- there's just a small bench and not much space to stand without being in the way. The staff, however, were attentive and worked quickly to seat everyone. We were initially told the wait would be 45 minutes and were about to leave, but as we turned to go, they let us know it had dropped to 20-30 minutes, so we decided to stay. Right before being seated, we learned that everyone at the table needs to choose either the Kpot or BBQ option. We weren't familiar with how it worked, so we went with BBQ. Once seated, it felt a bit overwhelming at first -- the booths are very large! I'm on the shorter side, so I found it a little difficult to get comfortable since I had to lean forward quite a bit to reach the table. The food itself was okay -- tasty to me but not outstanding -- I think I just got impatient with the grilling. The prices were on the higher side. Still, the overall experience was exciting and fun. It's definitely a great place to go with a group if you're looking for something lively and different.

KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot offers an "all-you-can-eat" dining experience in which customers cook their own food at the table. Guests can choose between Korean BBQ, hot pot, or both, and then order a variety of raw meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles via iPad. Standing buffet seems sparse, and do rely on ipad and servers to bring a variety of noodles, veggies, rice, broths, meats, and seafood to your table for cooking. Tanya was our very informed server who talked very fast, but learn by experience was our task. Nicely remolded property which permitted a few parent with screaming children to cause us regret at selecting a lunch. Kpot has the potential of being a nice date night location - depends on screaming children who are in attendance. Travel tip, there is another Asian buffet on Kingsridge Drive. We like the newness of the property, the menu, the service, the food, and the overall experience. Kpot seems to be doing a thriving business, and this is a small chain.

The noodles are actually made in-house and have a lovely texture. I got the Classic Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup and was definitely not disappointed. The broth is light, but full of flavor at the same time. It is truly very comforting on a cold winter night. I think the beef slices on there are a bit tough, but it's not too big of an issue. The portion sizes are actually crazy. I got the regular size and could finish maybe just half to 2/3 of the noodles, along with a majority of the beef. I can't imagine how massive the large bowl would be... For health, I also ordered some stir-fried bok choy. This was stir fried well, but I'm not really sure what the flavor profile was supposed to be. Is it garlic? Is it spicy? I couldn't really place it. The prices are very fair for the quality of food they provide, and service throughout the night was decent. I will probably be back again, if I visit Dayton!
