Chicken Taco Bowl
Kim L.

After reading the reviews I understand why there are so many negatives about the service. My order was taken right away and I was told 10 minutes. After 30 minutes later I had to go up to the register and ask the gal that took my order if it was ready. I think she might've been new cause she really didn't know what she was doing. She looked around and read back to me a ticket which was what I ordered. Nobody was calling out order numbers or anything?! Now, if I had not approached the registers and asked about my meal how long would I have had to stand there before someone noticed? I might've been there all day cause no one even acknowledged me at any point in time if those 30 minutes I sat there. The food was very mediocre. Don't waste your money here. Take that drive to a different tex mex place.

I hadn't had Silvestre's in a while and haven't visited since the move from across the street. I was nicely surprised to see the menu had quite a bit of new items!! I decided on the chicken and steal taco bowl in addition to my regular order of steak tacos and a pork and cheese papusa. I got the food to go. The taco bowl was well packaged and wrapped in foil with a plate on the bottom for reinforcement. The tacos were nicely packaged, and so was the papusa in plastic containers. The shell was perfectly crisp and unbroken when I got home. The food was delicious! My bowl had everything I asked for, including the yellow rice, peppers, onions, lettuce, sour cream, etc. Should have added guac, but next time! Tacos perfect. Papusa perfect! Nice to see the sauces in bigger containers! I remember the many small ones we used to get way back when. Can't wait to try some of the new sides I saw - cabbage, collards, pintos, etc. Service was quick and I love the parking in the back. It's cozy inside and the perfect place for lunch or dinner! Until next time!

Had lunch here and the tacos were definitely the highlight. I got the fish tacos and they were perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. The slaw and sauce on top added a really nice balance. The staff was friendly and gave good suggestions. Food came out hot and didn't take long at all. The place was bright and had a fun, casual vibe. I'd totally come back when I'm craving tacos again.

My kiosk number and I was not texted when it was ready.

I wish I would have read the reviews about this extremely inefficient speed of service. I placed my order in the Kiosk at 11:34 it's 12:03 and I'm just getting my food. After watching people come in after me, sit down, receive their food, and eat. The wait was horrible and there was no communication from staff. Not even an "I apologize for the wait".

This place is one of those hidden gems you don't want to get too popular because it's that good. The tacos are small but packed with flavor, especially the chorizo and barbacoa. Each bite had that fresh cilantro and lime pop that makes you keep going back for more. I really liked how the kitchen is open so you can see everything being made. It's obvious they take pride in their food. The guy working the register was super polite and made us feel right at home. Great spot for a quick, satisfying meal. I'll be back for taco Tuesday for sure.

This place knows how to do tacos right. The al pastor had such good flavor and came with sweet bits of pineapple that balanced the spice. I also tried the fish taco and it was crisp and fresh, not greasy at all. Portion sizes were great for the price. The guy at the counter was super chill and had good energy. There were only a few tables but it didn't feel cramped. Overall, a solid place for a quick and tasty bite.

I had the fish tacos and they were awesome. The fish was crispy on the outside and moist inside. Loved the slaw and sauce they put on top, gave it a nice tangy flavor. Tortillas held together well without falling apart. It's a casual place with a good vibe and friendly service. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. I'll definitely come back to try their shrimp tacos next time.

Silvestre Chicken is my go to spot for Peruvian chicken. Food is always amazing..although it does seem that their portions are slightly smaller. I would suggest their chicken, rices, enchiladas, basically try any and everything You will not be disappointment!

Don't use the kios. They like to up charge for your order after you paid for it. I generally eat here every wee. I guess I have to find another place.

Nasty ass fajita!!!!

WTF happened to this place??? The food used to be so good.. I went in there today, and ordered shrimp, steak and beef fajitas. The food was just horrible. No mind you, I loveeee this place. Never had a problem until today. The rice was bland, the black beans were salty as a snail, and my shrimp were so nasty. The meats were burnt!. It just was not a good looking plate of food when I open my container. I am beyond disappointed with this meal. $25-30. No way Jose. They should be ashamed of selling food like this!! Never will I ever go back!!!

2 steak tacos minus onions!! Yummy

I really like "The Spot" venue which hosts several restaurants include Korean Taco aka Kotaco. I…read morewas fortunate to be treated to the Korn-Dog by my colleague. It was fluffy , crispy, cheesy, and had a mild flavor. The batter had a light sweetness and was not too dense to eat. I enjoyed having it without a dipping sauce. The spicy mayo dipping sauce does have a slight bit of heat and paired really well with the bulgogi bowl. The bulgogi bowl was very nice. I opted for beef only though the featured dish offers beef and chicken. The beef was very tender and flavorful. The cucumber, corn, kimchi, kale, and bulgogi sauce was just the right combination. Next time I'll ask for extra kimchi and cucumber. The bowl was not too heavy while eating despite being plentiful. It's enough to share with a friend or eat by yourself. I do feel you get a good value for your money. The bowl cost $13.99 and the Korn-Dog in this configuration totaled $4.49. The area is very open and modernized. It is a shared restaurant space as a whole with a bar in the middle of the venue. To my understanding there are events held which I'll cover in my review of "The Spot". Ideal time to visit here to avoid crowds will be before 5-6 pm and likely weekends. From what I've gathered the government building and WMATA employees appeared as primary customers during business hours. Afterwards during happy hours and evenings should attract more locals and visitors trying something new. You can use the kiosk to place your order and pay to minimize your interaction with the employees or to avoid long lines when applicable. It offers touch-less payment that connects to your digital wallet. Overall experience 4.2 out of 5

I got a chicken and beef bulgogi bowl - 6/10 - sounded interesting enough but the execution was off. It tasted ok but felt old if that makes sense. Was definitely one of the healthier alternatives but it didn't wow me. Service was fast and the food was hot just didn't seem fresh. I'd come back but maybe try tacos instead.

It used to be the spot for me and my friends to grab a quick bite and everything about it was exceptional: who can say no to super affordable yet authentic street tacos served on paper plates. Sadly, it closed. Last night, I think I stumbled across a taco spot to finally take the wheel from our dearly missed El Chilango. Taqueria Al Lado is very no frills and a tiny spot, but it has tacos that make your heart sing. My friend recommended the Al Pastor so I got that with a chicken taco as well. Both were super flavorful, fatty, but really fresh and well balanced. The key here is simplicity and they do it perfectly. Each taco was about $4 or $5 if I remember correctly, so it's a great spot to grab food if you're trying to ball on a budget. We got the guac, too, which was good but not life changing; the fresh chips, however, were spot on. As far as service goes, we went on a Friday and it was super busy, but there were plenty of servers if we needed something (just had to be vocal). I will definitely be coming back!

The elote was solid, with real queso fresco. We also ordered aguachiles with shrimp and it was prepared nicely though when the delivery came the bottom of the bag was soaked with aguachiles water/ citrus. The Jamaica agua fresca was nicely done as well. Overall for legit Mexican in the DC area and for delivery Al Lado was top tier.

Bartaco offers items with mushrooms, falafel, and cauliflower. However I think it would be great if they could offer something with tofu as there is not a protein option for vegans. The chips and guacamole were decent but nothing special. Interesting that the chips come as large pieces instead of as individual chips.
