We did a family trip up to the mountains for a couple of days and on our way back home, we stopped by the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens because I knew my mother in-law loved flowers and I thought she would enjoy it here. We parked in the parking lot next to the big open field. Unfortunately there was an event that day and we had to pay I think $10 (can't remember the exact amount). I guess it evened out since the garden is free? Anywho, the garden was a short walk from the parking lot. It's named after the former first lady who preferred Vail as their vacation spot and helped the community flourish to what it is today. There's signage throughout the garden to read about Betty Ford, the plants, and wild life. It's a small garden, but there are plants from all over the world and we enjoyed strolling through the various paths. My mother in-law enjoyed it as well, so mission accomplished! If you're in the area and love plants and flowers, it's worth a quick stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

It was so peaceful and enchanting to walk around the garden. In addition to plants and flowers, we also saw lots of butterflies and hummingbirds. Admission and parking were free, donation gladly welcome.

We sat at the bar because we heard great things about the happy hour from the locals. 2 Food: We researched before coming to Breckenridge what place had the best burger and Aurum's French Onion Burger came up at the top of the list. It did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection (we like medium rare) and the sea salt french fries were delicious (no condiments needed for the burger or the fries)!! 3. Employees: The Hostess was friendly and got us seated right away. The Bartenders (Mike and George) made our evening a blast. Mike Ruda has a signature drink on the menu that he created called the Duck Fat Cadillac and it is a home run cocktail (10 out 10)!! George Johnson is a great conversationalist and is engaged with the customers. We showed him a twist to our favorite drink back home in San Antonio, the Carajillo and he made it perfectly! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Breckenridge and make sure you grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the conversations and the Duck Fat Cadillac!!

Now I recommend going early for happy hour or making reservations. We were heading out around 5:30pm and there was no seating available. For happy hour I had a glass of Rosé and lemon parmesan fries. The food, people, and ambiance were so amazing, we made dinner reservations for the whole fam. Luckily there was availability. That night we were sat promptly when we arrived and the table was set up with menus and water waiting for us. For appetizer, we started off with the Parker House rolls with the house honey butter and OMG those rolls are so fluffy and delicious. Highly suggest getting the rolls if you like bread. The butter complimented the bread beautifully. I started off the night with the blackberry smash with tequila and it was delicious. Just the right combo of sweetness. For entree we went with their Pasta Rotante which for the night was a crazy flavor combo of tomato, pumpkin seeds, crunchy carrot strings, sage and chicken sausage. I'm probably missing other ingredients, but it was a dance of flavors on the tongue. Our waiter recommended pairing this with a glass of Pinot Noir and it was the perfect compliment.

We absolutely loved staying here. It's very homey and genuine. The website doesn't do it justice…read more The amenities seemed very limited on the site but they have a hairdryer you can use (I brought mine thinking it wasn't available), they will provide towels for the jacuzzi, there is a microwave and fridge in the room. A private bathroom in the room and a small kitchenette. We asked about the rooms when we got there. The site was confusing. We thought it was a shared bathroom for everyone. That's not the case. Most rooms have their own bathroom. The staff is very personable and helpful for local tips. The breakfast was very good. They cook a hot breakfast to order. Our first morning there, we had a hiccup and I think we were forgotten about after we ordered food. We waited an hour and finally left. We were so late getting on the mountain. We didn't get our first run til 11. Other than that one issue, everything has been great and the breakfast the following two mornings came out within mins. I think it was an honest mistake but we all just brushed it off. Thank you, Claire for your hospitality. You made our home away from home very comfortable. I had to write a review. This was so worth it. I looked at the reviews before we came to see how the beds are. The mattress is comfortable in the room we had. I didn't wake up feeling like I was hit by a bus. They have an entire dvd collection that we put to good use. The town is very cute and great food locally. There is a bus that will shuttle you to copper and breck. The hot tub fits about 6 in there. Very nice to have after a day of boarding. Thank you Frisco Lodge. We will definitely be bs

Our room had a shared bath with 4 other rooms. But we never ran into a problem. There were 2 bathrooms for 8 rooms upstairs. A few also had their own en suite. The room was well appointed, the hosts were delightful and full of recommendations for the village. The courtyard is adorable but it was a bit too chilly to spend much time there. Walking distance to everything in the village. And breakfast was SO good. They went out of their way to offer vegan and gluten free options which was so kind. Even had handmade lattes and barista drinks by request. All included!
