Nice small shop, not a lot of selection but great prices. Walked out with a 1891 Quarter and a 24-dollar hole one my pocket. Worth it!

I opted for American Coin and Gold to start. I arrived around 4:45 on a weekday and despite the posted hours saying 10-4, the door was open. But the proprietor/owner was in. I thought he'd be happy to have a sale, but asked me to leave instead. Still, I went back the next week. When I arrived, he was on the phone with an automated system. He spent about ten minutes in the phone. I waited. When he got done, he came to help me. He appears to be quite knowledgable. He provided me with a couple of tips on coin collecting, just in conversation, but didn't seem incredibly keen on helping out. His selection of coin folders was severely lacking, but he did manage to sell me two over-lapping year nickel books. Yay. I asked if he could order up the books that were missing. He said it would just happen when he made his next order. I made a couple of inquiries, but he wouldn't tell me if/when he planned to order any more. I ended up just buying them online direct from the company. I also asked him about a magnifier, but he told me he had no idea where to find one. Huh. Hours are every weekday, 10-4, and he sells coins, currency, and other stuff. I had really hoped to encounter someone who would be happy and pleased to bring in a new collector. I got someone who told me that coins made before 1965 are out of circulation. Useful...but I found that info while researching Lincoln Pennies later that night. Disappointing.
