My wife had order me a firearm by surprise from guns.com sent it to this Capitol Pawn without my knowledge ( I had just completed a purchase from guns.com sent to Tick Licker as my FFL of choice a week or two before) mind you my wife is 37 months pregnant we are married ten plus years now share the same address and bank account! She surprised me with a phone call saying our rifle is at Capitol pawn in Salem ready for pick up but she wasn't feeling well and I told her I would pick it up did not realize it was going to turn into a literal nightmare for us I called and asked if it was possible for me to come by do the paperwork get background ran etc in her place? Was told no immediately and semi explanation of why they couldn't but he would call me back later!! He never called back so my wife called the next day to basically say we didn't want any issues so she would come do the paperwork herself with our 3.5 year old son and run background, whoever she spoke with was rude and arrogant told her no we are sending the gun back something about a straw purchase and the ATF getting involved for what we had done!!! She called me from home panicking crying etc I immediately called Capital pawn back after consulting with OPD and real firearms legality professionals was told there is no comparison at all to this with a straw purchase I literally just has my background done a week before she has never even had a speeding ticket that we were willing to both come in together run backroad checks separately bring marriage license certificate shared bank account statements same home address with my wife 37 weeks pregnant and our three year old toddler any proof they couldn't possibly need!! DON'T BUY ANY FIREARMS FROM CAPITAL PAWN ALBANY. I purchased a used handgun Capital Pawn Albany online through UsedGuns.com. As you can see in the attached order confirmation, the handgun was to be shipped to my FFL for $38.00. When I checked the order this morning, it said it had been cancelled with the note "cannot ship." When I called Capital Pawn Albany to ask why the order had been cancelled, and a young lady with a nasty attitude told me "we don't ship firearms, so that's probably why it was cancelled." When I asked them why they can't ship firearms like another other store in 2024, she said "that's just always been our policy." Well if that's their policy, why wasn't the ad listed as Store Pickup Only? As you can see in the attachments, Capital Pawn Albany has plenty of other firearms listed for sale with shipping available. Their Store Policies say nothing about not shipping firearms. Seems like they just made up this "policy" because they sold the gun out from under me to somebody else. If you're thinking of shopping here, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. This place has zero customer service! I went there twice trying to purchase a gun with cash in hand. The first visit I was greeted by an obvious new employee. He wanted to help but was unable to do a firearm transaction. He attempted to get some over to me three times and the other employees there just brushed him off too. The second visit, I was greeted when I walked through the door, but when waiting to look at their firearms no one even acknowledged me standing there. One employee was busy, one was on the phone, and two others were just engaged in talking to each other. I finally just walked out and I really don't think they even noticed. A 10-15% discount AT BEST! on USED, damaged and stolen goods is outrageous!!! These people won't negotiate, cash means nothing and they think EVERYTHING is worth current market value. Do not recommend! I purchased a midi-keyboard here, and was told it was tested and that if it didn't work I could only return for store credit. I trusted their assertion that they had tested it. I took it home and immediately found it had a main key that didn't work, rendering it useless as a piano. They clearly had not tested it. Frustrated that I had trusted them, and that I would now have to settle for a store credit, I returned it the next business day to the same woman who sold it to me (there are only two employees). I have the receipt, I had put it in the box as to not lose it, but she is asking for a separate itemized receipt (one I don't remember receiving, and had not put in the box with the other receipt). They will not even give me store credit for the broken keyboard they personally sold me. I do not recommend this shop, especially for things that must be taken home to test. I ordered an item through the buya.com website where the shipping cost was itemized and I accepted the price of he item and the shipping cost... I was then called back by the pawn shop called "Capital Pawn" in Albany, OR, where they decided that the shipping cost was over what "they" expected (possibly a mistake on their part, but i do not think so), and they called me with the excuse that they do not have a binding contract with me and they can cancel the order - which they did. In the meantime, i lost the same item that got sold that was equivalent to this item from a music store. In other words, i accepted the entire fee, and they stated that there is not binding contract with me, and they can cancel if they want. First time, I have ever had this happen with me.. And I feel, that they realize that the unit is worth more and decided not to sell it.. Or as a pan shop they found a higher price... I do not believe it was just the shipping cost which I believe $125 for this item is suffice... even if that is not true, they made the mistake in the shipping cost, and i should not have to pay for it by losing this sale, especially losing the other item that I could have bought from music Go Round in Detroit area.. This is very deceptive, unethical, business, and i feel that they should honor the sale.... This is why pawn shops continue to get a bad name.. i even called up after to tell them to send only the instrument without the case, thus much less weight, to meet halfway on the shipping expenses, but they still refused. This happened in January. These people are rude and very deceptive, slanderous and defaming, Went into do a background check for a new rifle. They informed me that the background check is 10-14 days out. I asked them how do I ensure the Gun I want to buy is still in stock, they said that I could either pay for it in full now, or put down a non refundable deposit. They told me that if I had a CCW/CHL that the background goes faster. Which doesnt makes sense in the USA, My rights are given to me by GOD, not a man. Knowing how corrupt the OSP are, I decided to not do the background check there and potentially throw away money. Ive known Former retired police officers get denied, because of an unknown parking ticket. Ive heard through some of my friends in the Gun community, that they(Jason) slandered my name because I took my business elsewhere. So they have a fire, collect insurance on the damaged and lost property in their inventory. Did they call the owners/loan holders of said property? NO. They failed to do any due diligence in notifying them that their property was lost in the fire; they collected the insurance money for all the property lost in their inventory then tell customers who had property pawned with them that they can't track down their property and they won't be properly reimbursed. Sound like fraud? Sound like they made out like bandits via underhanded and unethical practice? It does to me too. read more

Would rate zero stars if I could. You might have an idea in your head about pawn shop owners being less than savory, and unfortunately in this case, you would be right. The owner of this pawn shop watched his guitar get stolen one day. Upsetting no doubt. But when that stolen merchandise then popped up on Craigslist for a quick sell - the owner did nothing. Saw the ad, admitted he saw the ad, but did nothing. In the meantime, a member of this small community (Z) saw the guitar up. Yes it was a good deal, but not a deal so out of the ordinary that one would immediately assume it was stolen. Z has been trading guitars in this community for nearly two years, so he knows the difference between a good deal and an absolute scam. He asked the seller for the back story of the guitar, of which the seller gave a plausible story. So in this case, Z goes and buys the guitar. Z was still skeptical, but he knew that worst case scenario, if there was anything fishy with the guitar, he'd be getting it off the market as soon as possible. Worst case scenario, if it was stolen, Z would be able to reunite it with its owner. So the next day, he puts it up on Craigslist, for the value that it's worth...and that's when the owner of this establishment decides to reach out. I'll cut to the chase. This business owner saw his stolen merchandise on Craiglist and DID NOT contact the authorities about it. Even though he had a police report!! Could have gotten his merch back and gotten the perp in the process!! But instead, he waits until an innocent buystander purchases it, with his hard earned money, to contact him instead. Z, being a decent human being (unlike the owner of this place) obviously gave it back, no questions asked. And the owner of this establishment chose NOT to pay even part of what Z had to front. So he let a thief go and then let a member of this community go high and dry. Dude - you run a business. You got the money from the person who sold you the guitar, and you'll get the money from when it sells from your shop. But the person who reuinted you with that merch? Nah, forget him, right? He's the thief in the scenario!!!! Such a detriment to have in a small community. read more

Stopped in to purchase a rifle for hunting season. I just so happen to have an ex-girlfriends diamond ring in my car and decided to try and trade up for a rifle. Maria was helping me out; she was extremely helpful, polite, and understanding of what I was looking for. She gave me an honest opinion and did not push me to buy anything I didn't want, nor was she pushing for me to trade in the ring. After looking through the selection of rifles on the wall and discussing things with Maria we came to an agreement on a nice rifle/scope combo. All said and done Maria decided to throw in a decent plastic case, sling and reduced cost on some ammo. All and all I was extremely happy with the customer service and honesty of the employees. First time I dealt with these guys I had a gun I purchased on GunBroker sent to them since they have an FFL license. They were on top of their game and responded to all of my emails exceptionally fast, and called me the moment my gun came in. Upon going into the shop everyone was friendly, they had a very good selection of almost everything (especially guns), and overall I was really impressed. This isn't one of those seedy, low life pawn shops like you might imagine. It's actually very nice inside, and the people who work there are very friendly and more than willing to deal. I'll continue to use these guys for their FFL, and buy guns (and other stuff from them) whenever they have something in that I need. I have been wanting to come here for a long time. Shorty after I entered I was greeted by Brian. He told me a about a special they were running. Like them on Facebook and get a free DVD. The store is stocked full of goodies. They sell and buy everything. They have jewelry, gold, sliver, firearms, and electronics. Some of there prices are a little steep but the will negotiate, especially if you have cash. The staff is friendly and more then willing to help. I live in the neighborhood so I poke my head in about once a week or so. Really nice shop that's clean and well staffed. I love buying video games and related equipment here their prices beat any other video game store in town. My beef with them though is their gun section. Old guy that's usually behind the counter is pretty ornery and isn't really honest with his stock or his prices. No, a Chinese SKS is not worth $500. Don't lie and say a gun that's been through a war has never been fired and price it as such. A gun made in the 70's is not from the Korean war. I mean I hate to throw around strong words but I get the feeling that they don't really know what they're doing or they're just trying to part gullible people from their money. It's not all bad though, a few of their guns are fairly priced or a steal. I just find myself shaking my head half the time I see their selection. read more
