I purchased a rifle online and had it shipped to Tick Licker Firearms. When I went to pick it up, they only charged me a background check fee. While waiting for that, I found a handgun that I wanted but went home to think about it. We went back the next day and to purchase this handgun. I paid another $10 for a background check. After a few days, I handed my husband my receipt and asked why I was being charged a transfer fee for a handgun that was in their shop. Today he took my receipt and went into their store. The owner said the transfer fee was for the AR purchased the previous day. Then he refunded my $10 background fee for the handgun. On both accounts this is breaking the law. read more

I went in with my mom today to pick up an order we had on hold. The worker, which we think is also the co owner, spoke to us in an extremely rude manor and acted like it was a huge nuisance that we were there supporting his business. Firearms and their parts are not cheap, spend your money somewhere else where they genuinely care about their customers. Have been spoken to in a demeaning manor by multiple employees both in person and over the phone, don't waste your time here unless you want to be belittled and spoken to like you're a dumb because you're a woman. In the society we live in you'd think that women wouldn't be talked down to by men like this anymore, but that's not true at Ticklicker, no matter how extensive your knowledge of their products are (not that that should matter anyway...). I will not do any sort of business with this outfit ever again. They flat out lied to me about a firearm I had place an order for. During this time approximately 21 months they reassured me it had been ordered or they have emailed the firearm manufacturer. I had to contact the manufacturer directly to find out they never ordered it. At least the manufacturer took care of me and I had the firearm in 7 months. I went here looking to trade a pistol that was too difficult for me to use now that I have arthritis. I was treated so well!!! I was shown several automatics that met my needs and made an excellent trade. Terry was a customer service wizard and he made me feel like I was the only customer in the store (but there were plenty of folks shopping and being helped). I came in to purchase a gun I had been researching and was greeted by the staff as soon as I walked to the counter. They were very knowledgeable about their inventory and have their honest opinions to offer, they are not going to lie to customers just to make sales. they guided me to purchase what I feel was the best pistol for me. They always have a well rounded inventory, I just wish there was more ammo selection but in this day and age, nobody seems to be able to hold onto ammo for long. i am happy to see this store has always been a welcoming gun store to everyone, and you don't feel like you're being talked down to by anyone, which can be very common with other gun stores in Salem. This store has a lot to offer. They have a lot of items in stock that most stores around town don't and even some online stores. They have a large selection of firearms, both rifle and handguns. They have a large selection of accessories. The layout of the store is a little hard to see and the lighting makes it also a little hard to see some of the items on the racks, could be laid out a little better. Even though they have a huge selection, and also the specific parts I want, I won't buy from them. I attempted to engage one of the counter persons in parts and the difference. He walked away from me three times right in the middle of a conversation and started doing something else. I asked about a barrel to an AR-15 and he started to answer and then just turned, walked away, picked up a rifle and started looking at it, then walked over to another customer, leaned on the counter and started talking about the weekend. This happened two more times. If you don't have time to answer questions, then I don't have time to spend my money there. read more

I buy guns from several local shops yet find myself coming back to TickLicker time and again these past few years. The young women and men who work there - along with the older guys - have all been kind, courteous and honest - truly exemplary. Having now purchased or had transferred dozens of firearms there, I can unequivocally say I'm in their store every week and have witnessed hundreds of interactions with ALL types of people. I have never seen anyone treated rudely or disrespectfully and I have witnessed several cases where the employees made right some perceived problem or worked hard to correct issues. When a person enters who may not be familiar with firearms - or happens to NOT be a middle aged white guy - these folks step up, are encouraging and kind in their help and never degrading or rude, as has been reported in a couple (very questionable) reviews. Those reviews concerned me not only as a customer who has seen the opposite of what is claimed, but as a business owner in the community who appreciates other businesses treating everyone fairly, regardless of their looks, beliefs, backgrounds or politics. But don't take my word for it - go see for yourself. The proof, you will find, is that this is a great, locally owned shop with good people who are offering firearms at fair prices in a helpful and kind manner. read more

The first two times the place was busy and even though the staff was helping others they noticed those of us waiting and tried to see what we needed and wanted.
