I'm local. Finally had a day off to take my wife in to look at the garden nursery. Long drive up from Napa. I'll usually stop at the Roastry first, they closed at 12. was browsing the nursery but had to use the bathroom. Usually staff is friendly, today, not so much. Walked inside from the garden area. Was 4 employees , 1 behind register. Looked for help with bathroom. Staff with ace vests, acted busy amongst themselves not eager to help. I was closest to three employees gathered around a cart in center aisle. one girl one guy with a mustache. Again the bathroom was urgent. I Simply asked where the bathroom was. The male employee with mustache retorted in the most rude tone possible DONT HAVE ONE! As he walked past me. SUPER RUDE. Needed a part for my bicycle hitch mount and was kindly greeted by the store manager and he contacted Lisa to help me. The service from her was amazing, she even helped me carry the hitch mount around the store to get the parts I needed to mount it on the car properly. This store service was unmatched, I will definitely be coming here whenever I drive up from Napa. The garden looked really nice too. Will definitely bring my wife down and pick some flowers next time as well. read more

Was walking through town, going into all the interesting shops and noticed they have an ACE Hardware Store. I don't normally go into hardware stores but I always get a good feeling when I walk into an ACE. This one was super cute. Nice selection of plants outside, veggie, flowers, herbs and succulents. So many other things too. They had their 4th of July decorations out which didn't surprise me, Calistoga is a very patriotic town. I was surprised to see frozen pies! Apparently many Ace stores sell these pies and they are apparently very good. read more

A few years ago I had left not so good review for this location. I must say things have improved immensely. I just wanted to say everything went well and I am impressed with the changes that have been made. It'll never be quite the same as it was when the Petersons had it but as of right now, I have no complaints. read more

IMHO - Covid Edition Wandered into this Ace Hardware to kill some time as we waited for a specific Calistoga restaurant to open. The store was undergoing a merchandise display re-work so it was busy with staff running around and making a lot of noise. LOL Yet we were still warmly greeted and asked if they could be of assistance to us. We made a key copy and bought a pool skimmer! Customer service was friendly and available. The young short lady wearing red on April 26 day shift overcharged me for 1 item. Seems like she didn't care to even pay attention to what she was doing or was careless because it was me. It was a simple two item checkout and she just scanned one item and ran it twice. Racist? Not the first time it's happened. Larry went the extra mile and helped me replace my car key battery that I didn't know how, it was the first time I had to do it, and I was concerned the battery could die at any moment and I couldn't open my car. And Larry was so kind, and replaced the battery I bought, and I'm so grateful because I didn't have the right tools in the hotel to open the battery package. TL;DR: as I parked after arriving in my hotel in Calistoga, after a trip from San Francisco, in a gorgeous hot Sunday afternoon in September, my car dashboard showed a message: "Key battery is low." I called my dealership, researched and went to a car repair close to my hotel to see if they could help me, and they couldn't, but they referred me to the Silverado ACE Hardware on Lincoln Ave, and Larry helped me replace the battery. One of the most scenic hardware stores in the US. Inside, it's clean, full of useful supplies from organic ant spray to bungee cords, stuff you'll need around the house. It is a genuine old school hardware store, with screwdrivers, wrenches, the literal nuts and bolts. Its best section is outdoors- plenty of seasonal and perennial plants for the garden. One can enjoy a breath of fresh air along with spectacular views of the Palisades and Mt. St. Helena. The prices are cheap (for Calistoga), the people are helpful, the views are breathtaking. You've got to be shitting me! No one's reviewed this place yet?! I tell you what, outside of Pagano's, this is my favoritist hardware store in these here contiguous United States. (There's a place in Lahaina that's pretty cool.) I still have a pair of salt and pepper shakers I got from here years ago. You know the kind; little glass barrels with little glass handles and little tin lids. They are so fucking cute. If you don't have any, you should get some. All the more reason to visit this place. Or Pagano's. While I don't believe this joint has quite the selection of Pagano's, it definitely does carry some items that Pagano's doesn't, due to its presumably more rural clientele. For example, Pagano's doesn't carry harrows, horse blinders, drawbars, yokes, or grain cradles. Neither does this place (I don't think), but you get my drift. I just can't think of any specific examples right now. So go to Calistoga. Visit some wineries. Play some golf. Get a mud bath/sauna/rubdown/etc. Do some shopping. Have a romantic meal. Get your freakity freak on. But save the very best for last: a trip to, whatchamacall, Silverado Ace Hardware. No visit to Calistoga would be complete without it. So I was admiring the herb garden while the bf was looking for something like pipes or gloves or, i don't know, a screwdriver (non-alcoholic). Suddenly, I hear someone approaching me from behind, and I turn just in time to see the top of boyfriend's head duck under an azalea. Cat and mouse, eh? Oh THE HUNT IS ON! So i start ducking and weaving through the sparse cover of potted plants, getting ready to sneak up on him. I can see the top of his hair through the basil on the other side of the isle. I sneak closer, then LEAP! In mid-air, I realize that my prey is, in fact, a middle-aged woman who has bent over to check out the peonies on the bottom shelf. And she wasn't playing cat and mouse with me. At least that's what she claimed. But we all knew who won. read more

This place is very unimpressive. It's easier to drive down 29 and go to the Ace in St Helena or the Central Valley Builder supply because the two younger kids who work in here I feel like need to be beaten over the head to get any answers or service out of. I have never seen two kids look more vacant in my life. Just a.... Blank.... Stare.... So weird! Anyway, the garden center leaves much to be desired, they do have a decent amount of household products but at ridiculous prices. The reason for the two stars instead of just one is because the store is clean and tidy and there is a parking lot. The folks are special, some are older types who have been around for a long time there, and have gone the extra mile for me. If they don't have what you require, they are frequently able to order for you. They also refer helpers for difficult tasks such as installing straps for a water heater. There are unique 'treasures' to be found here, also; I have a set of wind chimes purchased here that have such a lovely DEEP tone that I purchased them for indoors, and have them in my living room to enjoy their sound.
