Absolutely wonderful customer service! Four staffers offered to help me find stuff. I was browsing so no need. But then the fifth staffer caught me staring helplessly at the dozens and dozens of different duct tapes. He actually hunted down the expert on the subject who listened carefully, asked me to describe the fixture I was trying to fix. Then he picked out the appropriate roll - color matched to the fixture! Unlike many other hardware stores, this one carries different grades of tools, anything from "I'll use this a few times in my life" to "this tool is my life". In addition, the store is meticulously neat and arranged. The lighting seems to be adjusted to a pretty bright level. No more squinting trying to read tiny font. This is one of those fantastic hardware stores that seems to stock everything with generous selection. Anything from household cleansers to loose fasteners to patio furniture. Unlike some other chains, the store seems fully staffed with well trained personnel. I thought this store might be high end at first with prices to match. However, inspection of the glue section (I'm fond of glues and I will stop by glue sections just to check prices) showed the prices were perfectly in line with other retailers. Then I checked the lock section. Once again, perfectly in line. The lock section was faintly disappointing, they didn't have any high end or exotic locks but then I also haunt locksmiths shops. read more

I don't know why anyone would post a negative review, especially about the Customer Service at Outdoor Supply. I am usually approached by at least one very friendly employee, often more than one, asking me if I have any questions, and offering help in finding a product. On rare occasion when I need to look for assistance, I can find a staff member in less than 2 minutes! And if that person can't help me, they will call for somebody who can. The selection at this store is huge! The Garden department looks healthy, and is gorgeous. The patio decor, and BBQ selection is vast. There's lighting, electric, paint, plumbing, tools, small engines, power tools, fencing, storage, home repairs, DIY, sheds, household products, and every hinge, button, stopper, roller, opener, knob, spring, clip, etc. imaginable. And that's not half of what's available at this store. If you need a home, car, or cabinet key made, it's done in minutes (unlike the other big hardware store in town). Best of all is the RENTAL DEPARTMENT! Hourly, daily, and reasonably priced. You can rent all types of equipment, and tools, Table saws, small cement mixers, heated blowers, high pressure washers, lawn mowers, carpet cleaners, metal detectors, a carnival style popcorn popper, a cotton candy making machine, and literally everything in between! My Mom went to this store to purchase a few items. An employee was walking around the store following her and looking in my Mom's cart. When she went to pay this same lady was the cashier, after my mom had put everything on the counter this lady kept looking at her cart and looking at my son who was sitting in the cart, like they were trying to steal (My Mom wasn't using a big purse nor did they have anything else big enough to put anything stolen in). My mom finally had to say "that's it" for this lady to ring her up. I find this very disturbing because my Mom is a Mexican lady with darker skin complexion and this employee is white. My Mom loves going to this store specially for plants but unless I go with her I am discouraging her from going alone to this store in the future. This is for their Moraga location. We bought outdoor Christmas lights this year. After 3 weeks half the lights went out. Brought back to return as they were defective and was told at first they wouldn't take them back at all. Manager was extremely rude. Finally- she told me they would give me store credit for the now discounted price- 75% off! Ridiculous- this is a hardware store, if items are defective they need to take them back! I sent an email to what I hope is corporate and hope they will make it right. Update: management called to apologize and gave me a refund for the lights read more

This is a great store if you need to purchase hardware supplies. The customer service is outstanding and they will offer to help you no matter where you are in the store. They also have a fantastic store manager Ryan O'Dell. We had purchased a Stihl Weed Trimmer that was having some problems, and he was helpful, responsive, and went out of his way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this store for anything that you need whether it's yard work, light bulbs, tools, gloves or even water sprinkler stuff. read more

I was so happy when this store opened because I was so upset when Orchard Supply Hardware closed! This store brought it back! I have a lot of plants to take care of at my house, from outdoor succulents to indoor houseplants. Many of my plants were purchased at this store, fully established and healthy. They have everything I need for my plants. Their plant inventory rotates frequently enough that there's always new plants when I go. I've only had one plant die that I purchased from here, and I'm pretty sure it was my fault. Even though I was kind of embarrassed over killing it, I brought it back with the original receipt and received a refund. They gave me no grief about it and even let me keep the pot! They don't just have succulents and houseplants. Last year, all the fruits and veggies planted in my garden were purchased from here (watermelon, 2 bell pepper plants, 2 tomato plants, cucumber, eggplant, and I also got pumpkin seeds) and all developed into large plants that kept producing well into October. I ended up with my own pumpkin, 3 huge watermelons, 9 bell peppers, and more eggplant, tomato, and cucumber than I knew what to do with. I still had tomatoes on the vine when I pulled them out in January. My favorite experience at this store: One time, while shopping, a garden center employee showed me a tiny bird nest that a hummingbird had built into one of their trees that they had for sale. Inside of it was the tiniest little hummingbird! It just sat there, holding so still that I wouldn't have even noticed it if she hadn't shown me. I thought it was very cool that she shared that with me! read more

Although about 2 weeks ago I heard the Floor manager down talking to the employees and I really did not like what and how she as talking to the employee below her. Obviously she does not have management skills. And Im a bit surprised from it. First or all this store has many items/products for just about any project. The employees seem to share pride in helping you navigate the store and its been this way whenever i go to this store which is not often. The reason behind the rating is the lack of information in any form which is unacceptable. I purchased a Electric Stihl blower a battery pack and charger for just under $600. I use it a couple days later and determine i will take it back and look foe something different. I return to the store with all original packing and receipt and proceed to get a refund. The cashier who helped me informed me that a manager had to be contacted to assist wuth the return. After a few questions from the cashier i was told a manager was in route. The manager takes a quick look at my receipt and explains that i cant return the items back because thats stihl policy. If something was broke they could fix it and besides that the only alternative was to upgrade otherwise a refund was not going to happen which was cleary stated by the managet. In response to the manager and to better understand where this policy can be located i ask to be directed to wherever this information is posted. In route to the Stihl priducts the manager and I were joined by the in store associate who handles the equipment and he was asked if there was anything displaying stihls policy on purchasing there items. The associate stands in front of a display screen with sthil information and products for anyone to access to review products. After 2 taps of the screen and 10 seconds later nothing was found so the manager responds wih the same policy information. By now and thanks to the manager the hidden policy is no longer a secret. Now faced with this new found information and considering why i was there to begin with how can i not suggest to the manager " ya now to help make it easier to decide if i want to purchase a product with that type of policy it should be displayed in such a way where a customer has no choice but to acknowledge it before deciding." The manager goes off and directs the associate to provide me the number to the stihl rep . On the flipside atleast i get to inconvenience myself and now have to contact the sthil rep. read more

Horrible customer service, cashier didnt say hi or even look at you, young girl with sharp nails. She then called to get a price on something that didnt have a tag. She still hadnt talked to us. A lady came over and looked at the item and went to get a price. They then called with the price and said it was way more than it was, by $10. We told the girl it was wrong, she finally had to talk to us. She ssaid oh so you dont want them and took them away....we said no, they are diff price. She just walked away and got another lady. Im guessing another cashier manager, we told her that the price was wrong and she sid ok and gave it to us for the price we said. Fine. But she made it seem like we made it u, and said to us, i AM givivng it to you for the price you say. We just wanted them to check it. My review is about the way two of the managers in the Moraga store treat the employees. The first time another customer and I saw "Tammy" (an employee said her name is 'Tamara') being extremely rude and dismissive with an employee who was asking for her help to find something for another customer. I left the store feeling quite bad. No one (even at entry level jobs) deserves to be treated like that; even more when they are trying to do their job! A couple of days later I went back and saw another manager: "Adriana" talking to one of the employees with terrible contempt when she asked a question to help a customer. Adriana refused to help her. The employee told me the old management was way better. I have been shopping at Outdoor Supply Hardware since they opened up here in Moraga. That last time was my last. They lost my business. I really can't stand it when managers mistreat their employees. read more

Nice selection of products, but the staff makes this store great! From barbecues to key replication, these guys strive hard to help. My only wish is if they increased their outdoor plants in their nursery. More selection with flowering plants of solid quality to keep up with the rest of their departments. Store Manager- no customer service skills. Would not let us return a chainsaw that we have had less than a month (with receipt). Husband used it and it went dead within the first cut. He thought maybe the chain went dull, took it to repair who said it wasn't the chain it was a defective chainsaw. Manager at OSH said that we had up to 7 days to return, we were never told this! If we knew this was the case my husband would have used it within the week. Manger refused return or exchange. Manager refused to accept or take responsibility for employee who didn't do their due diligence and explain the purchase details with us. $300 worth of useless trash.... To my knowledge store returns defective item, damages it out, vendor provides store with credit- all parties happy. read more

Pretty well rounded store that has almost everything you need for construction like Orchard supply had. Service is good and place is kept clean. They carry lots of quality tools you can buy or rent. Glad they opened makes it nice to have something on this side of town. read more

This is reminiscent of yardbirds or one of the small ace or a orchard stores , by way of the amazing customer service. Not the large selection of Home Depot but medium selection. Well stocked and clean. Plenty of employees to help. The eagerness to help you find what you want once you engage them and the sheer number of employees has made this my first stop. Then on to Home Depot if they don't have it. I will say I have been here 4 times already and only 1 time was it a encounter were I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing Thomas I engaged them. I was so excited to see Outdoor Supply Hardware come into Napa after the closure of orchard. Im a very easy going guy. But the last two trips i had bad experiences. The first one there was nobody to help me in the nursery. Walking in thr main store someone asked if i needed help. When i told her what i was looking for, she said probably in the nursery. I said there is nobody out there to help me. She said sorry and called it quits. I just got back today from anothet trip. I was looking for a free standing fan.I asked an employee who was walking by. He replied, not yet. I said really? He just walked away, shaking his head like i was the bad person for asking. While he was eating something while walking away i gueat view. Very rude!!. I was really excited to see a hardware store back in this spot. The original OSH was great, I had the same expectation for this place. What a disaster. Overpriced, very poor quality for some of the higher priced everyday items, and an attitude that says we are doing them a favor by being in the store. Customer service is non existent. I tried shopping here several times, at least 5 or 6, thinking it is new, they will get the kinks out, but I'm done. As the old saying goes, Lead, Follow, Or Get Out Of The Way. Love this place! Not sure about the other negative reviews as my 3 experiences here have been superb. From Christmas tree shopping, to purchasing plants and succulents, to gifts like Lodge Cast Iron pans and Yeti coolers and cups, they have it all! I've always had great service here and so glad this places opened up near me. Much better and more convenient than heading down Soscol to the bigger stores. I always come here to check out their indoor plant selections. It's very hit or miss.. sometimes they have a good amount of plant and other times it's pretty scarce. Today I found one that I liked, there were two of them. Both were in not too great shape so I picked the one that was "better". When I got to the register I pointed out the condition of the plant and asked if there would be any way I could get a couple dollars off. I was on edge about buying it at full price because the plant wasn't in good condition but I thought I could nurse it back to health. The cashier was very polite and agreed and said she had to ask her manager. The manager Lori lot Laurie straight up said (very rudely) "I'm NOT giving you any discount I just got that in yesterday!" My reply "well you can see all the dead parts of the plant it's not in full price condition." Her response "I don't care I just got that in I'm not going to discount it for you" so I just bought the pot and not the plant. I'm not going to pay full price for a plant that isn't in good condition. And they should want to sell good quality products. She needs to work on her customer service skills because now I will never shop here again. Not to mention the plant was mislabeled anyway. Maybe osh should have someone that really knows about plants working in the plant section of the store ‍ next is HR to file a complaint for the way she speaks to customers. read more
