I have just concluded a most unpleasant and unsatisfactory experience with Napa Kitchen and Bath(NKB) and it's owner, Rodney Bosche.
We went to NKB for help on a home remodel, the major feature of which is the construction of a corner bar. Rodney visited the property and came up with a bar design. He neglected to tell us that his design had the bar at "bar height," not counter top height. His design might have been appropriate for a free standing bar, but he knew that was not what we were ordering. He knew the bar would be in a corner opposite the kitchen. We will be spending almost 50% of the original order to have the bar height reduced 6". We also were replacing some kitchen cabinet doors. We were never advised (until the order was already "final") that once the order was submitted to the fabricator it could not be reduced or modified. The day after the order was submitted we received a bid for installation. There was an implication that the installer was independent, at least Rodney did not see any need to disclose he was not. We decided to look at his contractor's license and discovered that Rodney held the license.
Within 2 business days of the submission of the order we asked Rodney to reduce the number of cabinets. He said this was impossible even though it was also impossible that fabrication had started. He refused to exercise any influence he might have; he was in it for the money, not for the client.
These were not our only problems. We ordered an illuminated mirror for a bathroom which Rodney implied was custom. It was not and we bought it on line for 30% less. He also suggested appliances (wine cooler, beverage refrigerator and ice maker) that I purchased directly for 40% of Rodney's prices. Finally he attempted to charge me more for the quartz slab which would become the bar top than I could have bought it for at the stone yard.
Even if you live in the North Bay, go to a truly professional company, Sincere Home with warehouses in Oakland, SF and San Jose. We consulted with them on replacing Rodney. They were knowledgeable, responsive, professional and a pleasure to deal with. If only we had gone there first. read more
