I've always loved this store. You typically pay a bit more than you would elsewhere but the selection and customer service make it more than worthwhile. Of course doing business with a locally owned store is always a plus as well. My wife and I needed a grill. We shopped this town, and once we determined the model that we wanted we found it to be priced the exact same at every store that sold it. However our friends at Ace gave it to us for the same price - as I mentioned - but they also assembled it and delivered it for no extra charge! As if that weren't good enough, while the OWNER of the store was delivering it, he stopped and shook my hand and thanked me for doing business at his store. Used to love this store, have probably been there 100 times. The last few times I have gone with my GF, who is African American. The same cashier has helped us the last handful of times and refuses to acknowledge her. He won't even respond when she says "hi". But when I say something, he is fine. Wtf is going on? This is Napa. This is the place I was born, and this is how people are treated? At first I tried to say "he's just quiet", but he talks to me like no other, even tried to ring up his truck payment along with my paint supplies, as a joke. Seriously. What the fucking fuck. I've never been so uncomfortable and she refuses to go back, after at least five times I've convinced her to give him the benefit of the doubt. read more

Nice having this place here and not having to go clear across town to get supplies. The store pretty much has whatever you need for working on your home project. The employees are knowledgeable and there service is good. The prices are a bit on the high side but overall the place is great. read more

I try to support the smaller businesses but sometimes they can make it very difficult. I was looking for a certain item and was willing to drive across town so I called. A man answered the phone when I asked him if he carried Fix All he replied I think so and I said but I do not need a 25 lb bag do you have smaller? His reply to me was I'm busy right now I don't know you'll have to come down here and look for yourself. A better response could have been I'm busy right now can I put you on hold, or can you call me back in a few minutes or can I take your number and call you back? I was in customer service for 42 years I would've never told a customer that. When I was telling my family members about the experience I had they said they do not like to go to that Ace because they have been treated rudely before. Zellers ace is very nice but did not have the product I needed. My other half was in Rio Vista so I called they were extremely nice even told me what aisle he could find the product on so needless to say he picked it up out of town. The help was more interested in an Attractive customer the. Helping me or anyone else. Very busy weekday,I couldn't believe how busy Ace was for the week day and the time of day,but alas my real two complaints,They sold me a Delta Kitchen faucet w/sprayer 1-2 years ago $100-130. So now the hose to sprayer broke and without hose faucet is risky useless. Help just stood there staring at a very attractive person and blew me off. I mentioned how faucet can't work without hose,do you have hose I don't think so and oh well! Oh well?!!! Really?! Maybe if you'd quit looking at the hot guys ass you keep straying at you could take a look see?!? Oh well by by ACe hardware. I'll use ACE downtown. I hope the owner reads this and calls me. I was very disappointed with the customer service at Clark's Ace Hardware. I went there to make 5 keys. There was line. Two key machines but one clerk making keys. I waited patiently. There was someone ahead of me waiting for his keys to be made. There was another man ( the bearded man) at the check stand but not doing anything. Then a woman walked in looked at the line and proceeded to the check stand. She quietly spoke to that man then he walked over to the other machine with her key in his hand. She said outloud, I want my keys made but I don't want to wait in line. I was so angry. I waited patiently but when she said that I was upaer. Now I have to wait for two people instead of one. I just put my keys away and said Thank you Very much AND WALKED OUT. I should have said something but I had a migraine and just got out of there. I hadn't gone to work but I needed keys. I didn't want to make a scene. I won't be returning. I have been a customer for 30 years. It was my favorite hardware store. Now my new favorite is Zellers. Never going back to Clark's. I miss the lady that retired. She always talked to me. The had customer service skills. To bad. I thought the clerk would have more common sense and say are you together or are you waiting for keys too. I should have been helped before that other women. I worked at a store I know customer service. The man had a slight beard and was older. Maybe 50 with dark hair. Can't believe it. Bad job Mr. Beard! Bad job. read more

I usually like going to smaller stores vs big box stores because of the level of customer service I get. Unfortunately today I went to ACE with an item that I wanted to return with receipt. I explained to Dick that I could not find the credit card i purchased the item on, but I had my receipt to prove that I purchased the item just 3 days ago in that store. I planned on buying multiple items well over the value of the item I was returning so I figured they could credit my return toward my purchase. No chance, he did not care and his answer to me was pretty much "too bad." I understand if your policy is outside of your control, but Dick clearly missed the memo on being nice and thought we were having a poker face stare down. Weird. I was bummed and unfortunately needed to still buy a single item while I was there, but I will gladly take the rest of my business to another hardware store. read more

I really love the hardware store. Much like a bookstore or a Walgreens or even a Target, I can spend hours hanging out there. Checking out every little thing on the shelves, making sure I've purchased everything I need for my DIY projects. On a Sunday morning, I decided to drop by my local Ace hardware store down the street. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the store and was helped with my paint choices. I wandered around the store like a little kid checking out everything I needed for my kitchen table project. One of the store clerks even commented on how I looked like a "kid in a candy store." Haha. That sounds about right. I love a clean, well kept store and this one was great. I walked out with everything I needed and a smile on my face. A great way to start my DIY morning! read more

Very simply they will deliver a BBQ to your house but they will NOT deliver a lawnmower. Both of these don't fit in a standard car so I bought my lawmower at homedepot instead...free delivery. Ace lost a $400 sale....they may want to rethink their policy.... read more

Whether it be the ever-helpful Loretta at the front counter, or Mark, Matt, Justo, or one of the other employees, you won't feel ignored. The store is convenient. The prices tend to be higher with limited selections, though they can have deals. It would've been nicer if curbside pick-up was truly touchless; you still have to sign a piece of paper even if you buy/order online. read more

Recently returned a propane tank for a trade out, for my barbque. I had used it less than three months. (It was empty) They refused to take it back saying it was out of date! They would sell me a new one for a much increased price. (I even bought the barbecue there). Went to Orchard's And brought a new tank which was cheaper and cost less to renew in trade-in. I thought this was very poor customer service and will not be trading at this store again. I hope you all do the same. PS. They were not very nice about the entire incident. I purchased a weber grill ($450) from this hardware with the promotion that they would assemble it a deliver it at NO CHARGE. That is the reason I purchased from them. It took them 12 days to deliver the grill at an inconvenient time. Quote" we only deliver in the morning 1-2 days a week when the owner's pick-up truck is available. This the the deal" Unquote. And the grill was delivered with grease finger marks all over the grill metal. Very poor service. Yes they are small and friendly but they don't seem to really be able to pull off assembly and delivery. As soon as OSH is back I wont use them again. read more

If you go to Home Depot, you'll get to wait a half an hour for help finding the part/ tool you need. When someone someone finally shows up, you'll get a 20-something bonehead who has never worked a home project in his life, or an over-qualified "I used to own my own business" expert who is too self-important, and too embittered about his failed business and his new job at Home Depot, to help you find your (washer, 90 degree plumbers wrench, fill in the blank). Thank goodness there's an alternative. Don't make Ace your backup (when Home Depot proves a bust), make it your go-to place for any home project. They don't have the big-tool selection of Home Depot, but what they do have is folks who actually know the difference between a lock washer and a paddle lock. They won't wave you in the general direction of what you need, they'll take you there. Then you'll give you a couple pointers about your project along the way. Then they'll make sure you have (again, fill in the blank) to save you another trip back to the hardware store. Don't let the size of the store fool you. Go with your experience. In my experience, I can get what I need at Ace (especially this particular store) in less time than it takes me to find the same thing at Home Depot, if Home Depot even carries the item at all. read more

This Ace Hardware is the place to go for hardware that you can't find anywhere else. Their Serv-A-Lite aisle has screws, grommets, springs, nuts, bolts and items that I don't even know the names of and if you get overwhelmed you can ask an employee for help. The rest of the store is packed with all kinds of items like old-time hardware stores used to have. Like any business with a staff some of the employees are less than enthusiastic but the majority are friendly and helpful. Much better than the big box stores. read more

Outraged at the incompetent, disingenuous and irresponsible service received! Arrived with a blank transponder key and master and had cut by one of the staff. Cut was incorrect and did not work although the blank was identical to a non-transponder key also cut successfully. Clerk assured me it was his mistake and offered that if I returned with a new blank Ace would re-cut and reimburse me for the cost of the key ($20). I returned with a new blank and receipt for the cost only to be told by a manager that there was no guarantee for keys not purchased at the store and no reimbursement would be made. Policy never mentioned, stated or in any way referred at the original request. I was shocked at the complete reversal of policy and rigidity of the manager. Wow, this place must be losing a lot of money or certainly will with customer relations like this! I will be spreading the news to all my neighbors and never, ever, enter this pitiful excuse for a hardware store again! read more

I went to both Ace stores looking for specific items. I found the people there not pleasant, but yet when someone came in they knew my name their attitudes changed. They should treat all the same no matter what. I also called both places whole at Michaels because I had misplaced my backpack which had everything in it. When I called back they both stated they looked everywhere and could not locate it and I said I would back track. Went to the last Ace store, went to the areas I was in and WOW guess what there was my backpack. Yeah they really looked. What if it had been there information they had misplaced. People, learn how to be more people pleaser and maybe some of us might shop your stores. Going back to my Orchards, they have mostly always been nice to me.. Over many years we have wandered into Clark's Ace Hardware and posed questions about windows or plumbing or tiling. Every time we have found staff who knew their business, could and did offer could advice and worked with us to come up with solutions when it was a novel problem. The caring people at Clark's make this the place to go when any hardware related problem comes up from how to attach the keys to your purse to how to get the water out of the basement and lots inbetween.
