    Grocery Outlet, Napa
    Bruce K.

Most of the wine in Napa and Sonoma is crazy expensive. If you're looking to purchase something decent and not spend $50 or $100 for a bottle of vino, Grocery Outlet has you covered. Sure, there's some cheap Chateaux Plonk here. But there are some very good $10 bottles that will go down a treat. And yes, it's a full supermarket with all the other goodies including butchery, dairy, frozen, canned goods, produce and the like. It's basic but it's good and it's definitely inexpensive. I like both of the outlets in napa ,ca. Great prices but the one on Imola Ave is slightly larger with ample parking for my rv.

They have an odd focus on ethnic…read moreproducts from south of the border to some surprisingly specific products aimed at the keto/diabetic/alternative diet market. Rule number one: always check the expiration date of anything you buy. Rule number two calculate the actual price from other markets. The grocery outlet price is competitive, but not always lower. Watch out for the produce. It isn't always the freshest. I stay far away from the meats. Also from prior price comparisons that section isn't actually that competitive. I'm kind of amazed that for a chain that claims to be getting products from other markets that are about to expire or have excellent prices that the products in the store don't actually change that much. And I notice a lot of their specialty items aimed at the alternative diet market are not bargains at all. They are pretty much the same price as price competitive stores like Costco. And the one thing about Costco is you know the stuff is fresh. The real question is, can you finish it before the expiration date. You've got a chance with the Costco product. But with grocery outlet? There are some categories at the grocery outlet, which are kind of impressive. They range from the standard offerings of a regular supermarket to some fairly exotic choices. I have included three photos of the cooking oils. I was very impressed with this particular grocery outlet. The store was meticulously clean, the shelves were near perfectly stocked with a row after a row of completely full shelves. Checkout was relatively slow since there weren't enough people working the registers to handle the crowd. Also people kept shifting lines, hoping for a more optimal solution. the wine selection was amazingly large for a grocery outlet. But keep remembering this grocery outlet is located in Napa. I usually enjoy looking for an interesting wine that I haven't tried. But the selection here was so wild loaded with wineries that I had never heard of that I didn't have a chance. There were so many choices that in the end I was boggled and just couldn't make a choice at all.

It's of course all woolen and in those winters that's not a bad choice all woolen. Of course, if the Pendleton stores stocked all the goods from the East Coast, people would think they were living in a sauna. So they've added West Coast woolen goods and I guess the stereotypical West Coast woolen goods comes from the Native American traditions. At least that's what those patterns look like to me. I told the sales staff that I was waiting for a different year. Honestly, these particular patterns match absolutely nothing I own. So while I adore wool clothing, I have enough experience with moths on the West Coast to realize the stuff is going to be eaten down in no time. Apparently they haven't made any space-age wools that contain moth repellent. I am going to have to pass on Pendleton's for the for seeable future. They have got to get rid of those patterns. BTW, Pendleton makes some of the best wool products in the business. I have some socks from these guys. While all my other socks are biting the dust including some really high quality hand knit ones, the Pendleton just keep going.

For me and undoubtedly many others, it's the classic-iconic board shirts, popularized by the Beach Boys & the California surf lifestyle that have captured my fancy through the years. The textiles & design patterns that dazzle and can be dressed up or down. The style and quality that are often imitated with other brands but rarely duplicated against a cherished Pendleton. Amanda, aka Mandy is the store manager here who knows & represents the brand with the utmost knowledge & professionalism. Great brand ambassador. The outlet store here in the heart of the beautiful Napa Valley is well apportioned with everything related to the brand. Great in-store prices with sale & clearance opportunities plus selection not typically found online. And if there's something that catches your eye at the online store, there's advantages to having Pendleton merchandise shipped direct here to Napa, including free shipping. And a customer reward card-stamp program that I hadn't been previously aware of. But which Mandy was kind enough to set me up with. The rest of the outlet stores at this location are top notch as well. Great experience this time specifically at Pendleton and generally everytime at the Napa Premium Factory Outlet Stores.

A selection of China that ranges from vintage/high-quality to more ordinary items with high kitchen value. I've certainly purchased my share of mixing bowls and measuring cups. The clothing is a little bit more hit and miss. I tend to show up when the entire store is 50% off and by the time you do that the store has been picked over. So my impression of the clothing area is worn with very unexciting brands. The book section isn't too bad. I'm a big fan of cookbooks and gardening books. There was actually a quite decent selection of both. But let's face it my home library of both has a better than decent selection. I always succumb to the fabrics. I can't resist something beautiful no matter how tiny the swatch. The stationary section is usually quite useful. I'm always running out of a little bit of this and that and this particular section always has a little bit of this and that. Usually, I run into at least one appliance where I think I might need it, but not right now, but the price is so compelling that I'm tempted to buy it just as a backup. However, space considerations put a quick stop to this type of thinking. The truth is, I always find a lot of stuff that is very compelling, but I'm unable to buy it because I have no place to store it. On the other hand, I've discovered that Napa has so many outstanding thrift stores that community projects thrift is slowly fading into the background. I'm a bit sorry about this because clearly I have a soft spot for this thrift. But realistically, it's a very well, run thrift, that fits a specific niche. It will take care of a good part of anyone's Thrifting strategy. But there are thrifts that are so outstanding, that community projects clearly cannot compete. If you want a thrift that is also well rounded, but with more selection ( not necessarily better.) consider Eco thrift in Vallejo. If you want a very large thrift that specializes in furniture, dining room, supplies for renovation, home building. You need to go to Habitat for humanity ReStore. It literally has no competition. If you want extremely high-end, unique, designer clothing, and absolutely superb home accessories you must go to American Cancer discovery shop in Napa. Yes it's kind of pricey for a thrift. On the other hand, the odds that you'll find items of this quality in any other thrift are low to none. Goodwill in Napa was an eye-opening experience for me. My previous experience with Goodwill was, lack of any quality products, surprisingly high prices for well, I thought of it as crap. This particular Goodwill is extremely well stocked with clothing, primarily for men and women. The quality of the clothing beats the eco thrift, Sutter, Solano, and community projects thrift. It sure beats hunting for that one item that is of acceptable quality, style, and fit, and reasonable price. There isn't enough space for the other items that you expected a thrift. Small selection of books, almost 0 selection of furniture, tiny selection of electronics, even the knickknacks were puny. I was surprised by the amount of luggage. Some of the pieces were actually kind of desirable except I have all the luggage I need. All in all I would not bother with this thrift except to hunt for some nice clothes. I love the Echo Shop in Saratoga. The major reason why I hardly ever buy clothing at any other thrift is because of the Echo Shop. My wardrobe is completely stuffed with clothing that I adore. Just fair warning, first I became a customer, then I became a donor, then I volunteered, and then they elected me to the board. So obviously, I am deeply invested in this store. And for those of you who are either on a super tight budget or just love, amazing bargains, go to the Sutter Solano thrift in Vallejo. It's pretty small so the selection is limited, but the prices are the lowest I have ever seen. Their regular prices are lower than the biggest discount I have ever encountered at any other thrift.
