Just like Sameer and Rajiv, even I have been visiting this place for over a decade now. I first landed upon this place back in 97, when I was new in Dallas and was looking for a place serving authentic Indian dishes. Back then, I used to frequent this place once or twice every week as it was very close to work. Then with work moving away to Carrollton and to Plano, frequency of visits kept going down and for sometime hardly got a chance to eat at Silver Spoon(SS). Now that I am back in Richardson, SS is back on my list of Lunch joints. I absolutely love their Punjabi Kadhi that auntie (call the owner lady Auntie and see the love in your food) makes.. sad, she makes it only once a week. So a bit of effort to call ahead and find out to if the dish is available on a particular day. My favorite dishes are Butter Chicken, Chicken Karahi and Daal. I usually go for the Naan, but their Paranthas (fried) are pretty good too. Overall the meal is fulfilling, great taste, greasy (Yes, isn't that what adds taste?) and cheap. The restaurant itself is very small and can seat about 20 max. And if you happen to be here a little late (around 1:30pm ) on Fridays,...forget about getting a seat. Ok so not it's bad, but not my fave Indian takeout. I guess we are just super basic but the main Indian dishes I crave are the chicken tikka masala and palak paneer and they just didn't hit the spot here. They weren't bad, but they just didn't have that creamy addicting quality that I crave from these dishes. The chicken in the tikka masala dish was dry and the sauce was just way too tomato-y without the richness of cream. Just didn't do it for me. We also had the fried fish which was actually quite delicious but that's not what I crave when I want Indian. Again, the food wasn't bad, just not up my alley. I always love having a work training and I get out of the classroom to eat lunch out like normal people. My coworkers and I found this hole in the wall Indian place and decided to give it a whirl. Having only had Indian food one other time I knew I would probably like it but was still a little unsure. Walking in there is a giant silver spoon on the door ( took me back to the silver spoon show lol) anyway... The inside had 4-5 tables and the me I was posted on the wall with pictures for people like me who needed a visual. I stuck with what I knew I liked.. The tiki chicken Marsala mild.. They have the choice of mild, medium and hot. Being a wimp when it comes to spice I played it safe. I even felt this had a bit of spice too it. It was delicious and the naan bread was so amazing! I've been to Silver Spoon twice, with a good friend of mine. Out of all the South Asian restaurants that I've been to in the areas surrounding McKinney, Plano, Allen, and Frisco, in my honest opinion, this has to be the best! The ambiance is great, the customer service was remarkable, and the food was delicious. At that time, I still ate meat, and remember ordering their Haleem, and their Goat Karahi on two separate occasions. I also ordered their naan separately as it doesn't come with the meal. With regards to their Haleem, they make it with chicken. Traditionally it's made with any meat, whether it's chicken, beef, or lamb. Growing up, I've mainly had it with Lamb. Nonetheless, their Haleem is in a tier of its own. The dish itself was very rich in flavor, the spice was nice, and the chicken was cooked perfectly! For the Goat Karahi, it was very distinct in flavor. The making of the dish, compared to the North Indian variant is very different, and imo, more flavorful! The goat was very tender, and soft, the masala itself was was the real deal in terms of how close to authentic it was, and really blew me away. Elite to say the least! Their naan was soft, fresh, and not overly buttery! Conclusively, if you looking for one of the best South Asian restaurants to dine at, you cannot go wrong with Silver Spoon, as they will leave you feeling satisfied, and appreciated! read more

I travel a lot for work and try different Indian restaurants all over the country (mostly the chicken tikka masala, but some other dishes). If I lived in Dallas, I would eat here multiple times a week. Where can you get an entire meal with drink, cover tip and still be under $15. That is insane. If the food was decent, that would be awesome. But this food is AWESOME! The naan was perfect, the rice had great flavor and the chicken tikka masala was amazing. Came here for my birthday lunch! It's a small place but it's kept pretty clean. We had the chicken tikka masala spice level medium. It was pretty tasty came with a decent amount chicken cubes. We also had the goat biriyani which was my favorite of the two. The goat was very tender and came right off the bone. Rice wasn't overcooked or undercooked. I got a mango lassi as well. I thought it would be good enough for 2 people, but when we started eating, it was not good enough for single person. Taste was fine. All these stars i guess are fake reveiws or given by people who don't have a choice for other restaurants ( as they serve halal food). I thanked the Gods of Good Indian Food when I found this restaurant again. They were previously in Richardson and I was kinda bummed I couldn't get my favorite samoosas. These people know what a real samoosa is. My new favorite meal is the chicken combo which is ridiculously cheap. I feel bad that they only charge $10 so I try to add a tip each time. There is enough food for a family of four within this single meal. I got a huge piece of tandoori chicken, biryani chicken and curry chicken plus a naan bread and a dessert. By the way, Silver Spoon is an extremely clean restaurant in terms of food handling from what I can see. I have never gotten sick eating there, and food is packed very nicely. I heard a lot of good things about this place so I finally decided to check it out. I ordered the mixed grilled platter with beef & chicken kababs and a quarter tandoori chicken leg. OMG the spices they use and the marination were so full of flavor. Grilled to perfection!! You can honestly eat without bread or rice but of course I had to try their Naan which was delicious. The owners are super friendly and helpful with guiding through the menu. I found out they are the first halal restaurant in Dallas with another location in Richardson, which means GOOD QUALITY protein that's not mass produced/injected with hormones. I love coming to this place because the owners are very friendly, and the food is excellent! They use less oil in the biryani, which makes it healthier, but doesn't lose the flavor. Family owned and operated by Mom, dad and two sons, small operations, super clean, very reasonable prices, great value, remarkable tasty food and exceptional customer service. Nothing like going to a restaurant and you're greeted like a family member. I've been there twice and both times both the food and the service were outstanding. First time I had the mixed grill. I had the fish, chicken tandoori and the minced beef grill. Wow, the chicken and beef were good, however the fish was heavenly. Seriously, one of the best I've ever had. I also had some spiced up basmati rice that was quite delicious. Second trip I had the beef nahari with white basmati rice and naan bread. Again, so delicious and the spiciness was well balanced and spot on. Next trip I'm going for the chicken tekka masalah. I'm looking forward to it. Overall, great food is nice to have, but when you add superior customer service and personalized hospitality, the final product will be quite impressive.
